My loan was transferred to Mohelia from…

My loan was transferred to Mohelia from another servicer in October 2024. When my recertifucation time came in January 2025:: they would not process my IDR paperwork. They kept making excuses that I needed a name change, which was already done with the prior servicer, and also said they could not read the application. (The application only had my and my husband’s signatures which were quite legibile). Then, they told me IDR would increase, I am retired and only on Social Security, have always had a very low pay amount. So, I had to make my fifth call in few days to them and they then told me to ask for a recalculation, which I submitted. Today I see the IDR got approved, but they won’t tell me the amount until the end of April! So I have to make another call to see if they will give me the amount!!! Awful company, I miss my prior servicer!

Mohela is horrible!

Mohela is horrible!! I have submitted documents to them several times that shows that I worked for the companies that I provided the public loan forgiveness forms for, and they have still yet to review those documents even after having the information for well over a year now. If they would review the information I have submitted then my student loans would have been forgiven by now because this information covers all the months I had remaining.

Worst of the Worst

If I could give a negative rating I would. Mohela is so incompetent. I have made a number of calls to their toll free number for weeks and have hung on hold for hours without getting the assistance I need. Department of Education how are we suppose to take care of our Mohela business when Mohela won't take care of US!?!
Why hasn't this been addressed with so many of the same complaints with Mohela? Is anyone working for the American citizens (Mohela customers)? Doesn't appear to be the case. With this being the situation please have some mercy for Mohela 'customers'.

Complete Scam Organization

Mohela is one of the governments many scam agencies, I can completely understand people wanting to see the DOE shut down when their experiences are with federal companies like Mohela and additional entities like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) only exist to check a box and pretend that they hold these scam agencies accountable when their continuous reply is the same "the company says they are still working to resolve your issue" BS. I have submitted 2 complaints about the same refunds I was supposed to receive from Mohela and this process started back in December 2023. It is now the end of February 2025 and I have not received a penny back for the nearly $1,000 I am owed that they supposedly are still working on even though they reversed those payments in my account 6 months ago. I have now had my loans reconsolidated through AidVantage who also paid the full balance of what was reflected in my Moheal account so now they have been paid twice for payments they reflect as refunded. If it takes you over a year and you still can't figure out how to issue a refund your workers are highly incompetent and you need to be shut down.

A five hour wait on the phone

A five hour wait on the phone. What the hell. One time I waited an hour then it dropped me. No such thing as customer service and emailing is not an option. It’s like hiding Devin’s the facade of a computer. It’s not like they have an office to visit and nearly impossible to reach via phone. I feel scammed. When you are lucky to reach them, the workers are incompetent pushing you to studentaid services which they will tell you to get hold of your lender. It’s a back and forth dilemma

If I could give no star I would

If I could give no star I would. One of the worst paces to do business. Waiting hours (3 was the longest) to speak with someone only to be transferred and need to wait another few hours. After sending a written request, it took nearly 6 months for them to place my loans in repayment. Because of their incompetence (my loans were finally forgiven), I ultimately overpaid by $8k that I cannot get back!

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE SERVICER

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Every time you call customer support, it's a minimum 4-hour wait, with 6-7 hour wait times being the norm. Almost impossible to reach an "advanced agent" who can actually help you! Even worse, they will purposely delay processing forbearance and IDR applications and start billing you full price even though federal laws prohibit them from doing this! ILLEGAL.

Harassing!!!

Harassing phone calls all day long if you're even one second late on payment. Please calm down and recognize that people work and can't take phone calls, and you are tying up my only line. Your 20 calls a day will make no difference in my response time. I am sure this review will do nothing, and they'll continue, but I am fed up with their antics. I wish I could give zero stars

Mind numbing

Mohela messed up my student loan repayments so badly, I had to break down and call them even though I knew it would be an awful experience. Waited 90 minutes to speak with a representative who then forwarded me to an "advance rep"-- wait time was a whopping 3 hours, so I asked for a call back. The call went straight to voicemail, and the number they left was the original number, so I started from the beginning. Now waiting for a call back from a rep that won't be able to help me and will have to advance my call again. Also sent them an email a week ago and they have yet to respond.

This company is the absolute worst!!!

This company is the absolute worst!!!! I truly hope the federal government find a new servicer!!!. They keep you on hold for hours, and then transfer you to some one else and they put yo on hold for hours, only to not be able to assist you with your issue. I have been trying to get my records of payment for weeks now and have not been successful. They sent me an email stating that I should look at my account history for that information. The account history does not have your name or account number and the payment records are all convoluted and you cannot make head or tails of them, this is ridiculous!!! If I could give them zero stars, I would. They are awful!!!

This is so ridiculous

This is so ridiculous.
Terrible experience so far. This is the worst company ever. The customer care service is so horrible. I really wish I never got this loan because of the whole failed payments. I was fully stressed so much while on call. I was finally able to pay them off using mygains on-Morewins, if not the company would have been a total mess to my life.

Making payments nothing goes to the…

Making payments nothing goes to the principle. Nothing. Hold times are hours when phoning. and if anyone answers they are clueless. No one can tell us what we have paid to principle and interest. There is NO accounting. Each payment goes towards nothing and the amount owing continues to increase.

How can a class action lawsuit be filed!!

Horrendous customer service

Horrendous customer service. I have not had this experience with any other company. It's brutal and making me worried that I will have issues with payments. They should not be allowed to administer student loans.
