NACA is a life saving program for people who are housing insecure and without means to access the real estate system by way of traditional mortgages. Also, NACA provides great support with clear stepping stones on the path to homeownership which is vital to the process. As a prior long-term renter who has faced a lot of hardship with the rental market and not knowing where else to turn, NACA is a wonderful channel that is making a pipe dream of homeownership into reality!!!

​I am so grateful for the NACA program and the guidance I’ve received so far. Meeting with my counselor made a huge difference, they take the time to look at your specific situation and help you navigate the document requirements without feeling overwhelmed. The program takes real effort and commitment, but having that direct support makes homeownership feel completely achievable.

My parents bought their house through the NACA program back in 2014 and it was the best option for them to become home owners, now I’m going through the process myself and so far it has been a great experience, all of the staff that I have talked to has been very nice and the process has been easy. Ive been preparing myself to become a homeowner so most of the requirements and documents needed I already had access to them and it was a simple process to get everything submitted and reviewed. I would recommend NACA to anybody that’s looking to become a homeowner.

I am having a very positive experience with NACA and would highly recommend their program to anyone serious about achieving homeownership. What sets NACA apart is their strong commitment to making home buying accessible and affordable, especially for individuals and families who might not qualify through traditional lenders.
Throughout the process, the counselors were knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in my success. They took the time to walk me through every step, ensuring I fully understood my financial situation and how to improve it if needed. Their guidance around budgeting and long-term affordability was especially valuable.
One of the most impressive aspects of NACA is their loan program, which offers competitive interest rates with no down payment or closing costs. This makes a huge difference for first-time homebuyers. While the process can require time and dedication, it ultimately ensures that buyers are financially prepared

I spent months in the NACA program and ultimately walked away without qualifying despite repeatedly providing updated documents, explanations, and financial information.

The process felt like a moving target. As conditions were satisfied, new requirements appeared, documents expired before review, and obtaining clear answers regarding timelines and remaining qualification hurdles was difficult.

The most frustrating part was learning about significant additional qualification requirements months into the process that would have impacted my decision to participate had they been disclosed earlier. I ultimately pursued other options.

One thing prospective applicants should be aware of is that participation activities are part of the program. In my experience, writing reviews was encouraged as part of that participation. Because of this, I would encourage people to look beyond early-stage reviews and focus on feedback from individuals who have successfully completed the entire process and actually purchased a home.

If you are considering NACA, be prepared for a potentially lengthy process, repeated document submissions, and uncertainty regarding qualification requirements and timelines.

I truly wanted to give this program a 5-star review because the concept and assistance it offers to families purchasing a home is wonderful. Unfortunately, our personal experience was closer to a 2-star experience.
The representative assigned to us, Kimberly K., came across as dismissive, discouraging, and at times unprofessional. As a biracial family—my husband is Caucasian and African American, and I am Hispanic—we were excited to participate in a program designed to assist diverse families. However, throughout the process, we often felt overlooked and unsupported.
One example that stood out occurred when our credit scores were reviewed. My score was 805 and my husband’s was 810. We were proud of how much we had improved our credit over the last year and simply celebrated with a quick high-five. Kimberly immediately responded by saying, “That doesn’t matter here. What matters is income and proof you can afford the home.” While technically true, the comment felt unnecessarily dismissive and took away from a moment we were proud of.
Over the course of nearly two years, we repeatedly attempted to qualify through the program. My husband’s income increased significantly, from approximately $85,000 to over $135,000 annually. However, because he had only been earning the higher income for four months, Kimberly stated she could not use the updated income and advised us to wait another year. We offered updated pay stubs, employment verification, and supporting documentation, but were told the underwriter would not approve it. The application was effectively declined before being submitted for review. Mind you the raise was for the same company!
Communication was another major concern. Appointments were rescheduled multiple times, emails and phone calls often went unanswered, and despite bringing documents in person, we were instructed to upload everything online rather than having them reviewed during our meetings.
Throughout our interactions, Kimberly frequently spoke about how busy she was, how many clients she was helping, how tired she was, and how much she was looking forward to her vacation. While everyone deserves time off, these conversations often left us feeling like we were a burden rather than valued participants in the program.
The most frustrating part was being consistently told what we could not afford. During our first evaluation, we were quoted an approval amount far below what our financial situation supported. We were repeatedly told, “I can’t approve you for what you can’t afford,” despite our long history of paying nearly $3,860 in rent each month.
Ironically, after stepping away from the program, we successfully purchased a beautiful five-bedroom home for $586,000 with a 3.99% interest rate and very little money down. We were ultimately approved for well over $800,000 through a traditional lender. This outcome demonstrated that our financial qualifications were stronger than we had been led to believe.
Another concern is that participants are encouraged to leave 5-star reviews before the process is completed. Reviews should reflect the entire customer experience from start to finish, allowing clients to provide honest feedback once they have completed their journey.
I understand that every family’s experience may be different, and I am genuinely happy for those who have been helped by this program. However, based on our experience, I cannot recommend it. We spent nearly two years being told “no,” despite consistently working toward the goals we were given. In the end, we achieved homeownership without the program and with terms that were equal to or better than what was being offered.
I am sharing our experience not out of bitterness, but in the hope that future participants receive better communication, more encouragement, and a fair opportunity to have their applications fully evaluated.

This program is one of the best out here ! Nobody can beat what this program has to offer, however must be patient. Naca is very valuable, and can make homeownership possible, for those willing to stick with it.

My experience with NACA has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the qualification process was straightforward, well-organized, and much easier to navigate than I expected. Every step was explained clearly, and I always felt supported throughout the journey.

I would especially like to recognize my housing counselor, Antonio Coronado, for his outstanding professionalism, patience, and encouragement. Antonio took the time to answer my questions, provide guidance, and ensure I understood each step of the process. His knowledge and genuine willingness to help made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel manageable and attainable.

For the first time in my life, I truly believe that homeownership is within reach. As someone who will be the first in my family to purchase and own a home, this journey has restored hope that I didn't realize I had been missing. I am incredibly grateful to God for opening this door, and I sincerely believe that His grace, combined with the opportunities provided through NACA, has made this dream possible.

Programs like NACA is helping change so many lives. Without this opportunity, the dream of owning a home would remain just that—a dream—for countless hardworking individuals and families. NACA has created a pathway that makes homeownership accessible to people who may have otherwise believed it was beyond their reach.

I’m just starting the process and have recently met with my advisor and she has laid out everything clearly. I’m happy to start this process.

I have to say that NACA and my counselor, Faith Beach, have been very hands on in providing the information and assistance needed to see me through this process. So far the process with NACA is going very well. My NACA counselor Angela Barnett explained the process very thoroughly to me, very knowledgeable. There are a lot of parts to this and it can feel like its never-ending but Ms Barnett gave me very clear next steps to continue the process. There is no downpayment and no closing costs when you work with NACA so I am looking forward to the end results and praying for a good outcome.

I went to a workshop with my parents. The people who were managing the meeting were thorough and attentive to our questions. My family is currently in the process with NACA. They have been helpful.

The process has been smooth. What has been helping our family a lot is the patience that our advisor has shown us. They have been very helpful in every step.

I am having a great experience with NACA. Their commitment to helping families achieve affordable homeownership is truly impressive. My counselor Dwayne Jordan is awesome and very knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated to guiding me through every step of the process. While the process requires commitment and documentation, the support and potential savings make it worthwhile! I appreciate the organization's mission to make homeownership accessible to people who might otherwise face barriers in the traditional mortgage market. NACA is an awesome program. No down payment, closing costs or PMI. In addition, you can buy down the rate. That's unbeatable. However, it takes a lot of work. A lot! and a lot of patience! I've been in the program for a while and have seen it change a lot (over the years they limited the amount of buy down or how often one has to be re-qualified). What has remained consistent is my housing counselor, Gladys DeGutierrez. She has been awesome to work with! If you're willing to work hard and be patient, this program is worth it.

NACA experience is so far good. Have submitted all the documents requested. It was alittle pain staking gathering all that paperwork but worth it. Our counselor has been thorough and honest with us from day one which is helping to keep us on track. She educates us which I appreciate. Have to be patient as you go through process.
