I have found online study difficult however the modular structure of Navathome made it easier to stay on task and progress.
There are some discrepancies between the online course and the RYA manuals for example MOB procedure however these are in areas where the practical RYA course is the more appropriate avenue for that knowledge.
Online assistance was generally prompt.
I would recommend Navathome for those who are time poor and can't find a week off for the classroom.

Great source of knowledge with a certificate on the back end. The final quiz was challenging enough to cement the syllabus. A variety of typos throughout and some questions, through a lack of context, lead to frustration but nothing is insurmountable and the assessor is patient. If I could fix one thing it’s making the app more accessible - it doesn’t narrow down enough to work on a phone and is still quite small on Safari so could be hard for many with not perfect eyes. Having said that, I did also manage the whole thing on an iPad from a couch. Solid value for money.

I liked the dry humour (no pun intended), and the glossary entry for “landlubber”.

Really great and informative course. It was very helpful to be able to learn the theory from home alongside my day job and then apply it when out on the water.

The course information is very well written with lots of good descriptions and video link displays.
It also provides excellent flexibility to work through topics at a pace to suit your own time, availability, and speed.

Coastal Skipper certification theory course.
A very comprehensive course with a clear structure.
The topics are clearly explained, and the exercises help to clarify the topis.
The regular assessments help to keep you focused and to gauge your level of understanding of the topics covered any your progress through the extensive course material.

Support is always available with well-structured answers to all my requests for help and further explanation on any topic.

Overall, the course is comprehensive, interesting and at a high level, but at the same time is fun and interesting to work through. I look forward to applying and building upon what I have learned through this process.

The course was well written, easy to read and understand. The simulated radio exchanges and radio interface were very helpful. It made doing the test quite straightforward.

There is a real person on the other end of this online course. This makes a massive difference when it comes to getting feedback on your passage planning. I learnt a surprisingly large amount that I could transfer to my hands on experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone else looking to acquire skipper skills

Generally easy to follow & succeed at. Excellent animations & interactive onscreen media learning. Some challenging parts, tidal curves for example. An enjoyable & achievable online learning learning experience.
