The government and Ofgem have come…

The government and Ofgem have come under significant criticism for allegedly prioritizing their own financial interests over the welfare of the public in the energy sector. Many believe that they are complicit in a system that allows energy companies to reap excessive profits, reportedly between 23% and 25%, while consumers struggle with soaring energy costs. Over the past five years, these companies have amassed profits totaling £30 billion, raising concerns about the justification for high prices amidst global crises like the Ukraine-Russia conflict. There is a growing call for reform, advocating for a cap on profit margins to a more reasonable 9% to 10%, as well as demands for accountability from government officials, including Ed Miliband, who are seen as failing to protect the interests of the public.

Company is failing

This company is failing as a National Regulatory Authority, prioritizing profits over people’s lives and raising bills by so much which is unsustainable for a quarter of the population.

Price cap increasing again in Jan '26

The energy company lap dogs continue to kowtow to their masters.

Taken from: theregulatorguy dot co dot uk

"Overall, the Price Cap will increase in January 2026 to £1,758 from the current £1,755 – but half of this increase is going directly to supplier profits! Energy suppliers can expect to benefit from an additional £50million in profits from this announcement!"

Got to keep them in the riches of which they are accustomed to.

I can only think the slack-jaw Jonathan Brearley gets his energy for free. But on his eye-watering salary he can afford it...

Refusal to determine

Following poor service from a DNO, Ofgem asked to carry out a determination and declined as it failed to meet an undeclared threshold - leaving Customers with zero support.

Zero stars if it was available. I called in the hope to get some help about a specific Ofgem Regulation. Adviser constantly talking over me, not listening properly, she made an intepretation on the regulation, when I queried it she said they can't interpret/explain the regulations, only tell me what or where they are!

Very unprofessional company that does…

Very unprofessional company that does not even mention on their 'smart meter' page that these devices emit radiofrequency radiation 24/7. This is most certainly not safe for human health and absolutely no long term health studies have been done, and they want to force these devices on every household in the UK, and the agenda moves worldwide also.

The way I see it, the Government and its agencies want to weaken the human being into compliance, and whether it uses electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) and mRNA jabs to accomplish this, they don't care about you, and it's nothing to do with a green agenda or climate change. It's about control.

The lady my husband spoke to at Ofgem actually cut him off. She said, I'm giving you a warning (for interrupting me) and then hung up when I mentioned that they were the regulators who were telling the energy companies to fit these dangerous devices. She didn't want to deal with the questioning and cut us off. Unprofessional and a very sinister evil company who is harmful to human health 100%.

UK has highest energy prices in Europe…

UK has highest energy prices in Europe with obscene supplier profits (typically £1.2Bn per supplier) in an industry that sees consumers secretly forced to pay for multiple bankruptcies & other extensive regulator failings - yet Ofgem congratulate themselves for this abysmal performance.
The truth & facts need to be exposed via publication & broadcasting until apparently corrupt & incompetent, supplier linked Ofgem directors are brought under control & provide consumer protection & value in an industry seemingly comprising of parasites. Appalling Ofgem leadership should be replaced so it may be transformed into a useful public body instead of what seems like a dodgy quango :-(

Usless organisation

What a waste of time this organisation is, they are useless, they have the power to entice these energy companies to lower prices, but do nothing, any excuse to put prices up, covid, war in Syria, war in Ukraine, never go down, especially as these enery companies make huge profits, and useless ofgem do nothing, might as well not have them, they are as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Ofgem are totally corrupt

Ofgem are totally corrupt. Their former Director, Christine Farnish resigned in 2022 for exactly this reason. Like all so-called "regulators", their title is a deliberate attempt to deceive the public to imply fairness. Criminals like Ofgem, Ofwat and Ofcom exist to ensure greedy international energy providers gain maximum profits by ripping off the public. Christine Farnish said this, "Ofgem is favouring businesses over consumers with a rule change that will add as much as £400 to the average UK household energy bill".

Miss Farnish said the regulator “gave too much benefit to companies at the expense of consumers”, according to a leaked internal Ofgem announcement. Across the UK's 27m retail energy customers a £400 annual bills increase could cost households more than £10bn. The bias of Ofgem towards companies by insisting that energy be sold at the marginal cost of the highest cost producer has been a long-running theme.

They also cynically exploited the war in Ukraine as a pathetic excuse by blaming Russia for the increase in energy costs. The sad thing is that most of the British public believes this nonsense while Ofgem laughs at us all the way to the bank. Meanwhile, the public are willingly complicit by their indifference.

Ofgem problem.

I have been having major problems with British Gas (see my BG reviews) so I decided to contact Ofgem about a month ago but have had no response to my complaint. I contacted them again, filled in form as best I could but found it difficult to navigate. So I decided to phone (03304401624) I called 5 times and each time the message came up ''call ended''. Just a waste of time, no ones interested, even the people that are supposed to be on your side, its a joke and needs an overhaul!

UPDATE:- 04/07/2025 Ofgem have been of no help.
Umpteen emails to BG/SEG for the return of my documents are being totally ignored I want my documents back asap.
