I make a point to write reviews when service exceeds expectations, as exceptional efforts often go unrecognized. Unfortunately, today I feel compelled to share a negative experience due to significant frustration and disappointment.
I booked my first cruise through Online Vacation Center in November. This trip is especially meaningful, as it was intended to fulfill my father’s wish for one more family vacation before he passed. While that opportunity was lost, I moved forward with booking this cruise in his memory for a group of 12 sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas on May 1st.
On March 17th, when my family attempted to begin the check-in process (45 days prior to departure), we were unable to locate our reservation. Since my husband and I are currently traveling in Europe, my son contacted Royal Caribbean and was informed that our reservation had been canceled due to non-payment.
This came as a complete shock, as I have documentation confirming payment was successfully processed on January 21st. My son then contacted Online Vacation Center, and fortunately, the reservation was reinstated.
When I was able to call, I simply wanted clarity on the following:
• Why was the reservation canceled despite payment being made?
• Why was there no prior communication (call, email, or text) before cancellation?
• Were we able to retain the same cabins?
• Were all original booking incentives and extras still intact?
I do not believe these were unreasonable questions.
On March 17th, I was told I would receive a callback after the representative handling my son’s case returned from lunch. I explained I was on a tour with a 7-hour time difference and requested that an email response would be perfectly acceptable. I received no follow-up.
Two days later, I again activated my international phone plan and called as soon as the office opened. I was told the matter had been escalated to a supervisor, who would return my call shortly. Again, no call was received.
After waiting six hours—late evening here in Europe—I called back once more, only to be told the issue was still with a supervisor and would take additional time. When I asked for any estimate of when I might receive a response (especially given the cost of repeatedly activating my international plan), I was simply told to “be patient.”
At this point, I have interrupted my trip multiple times and incurred additional expenses trying to resolve an issue that should never have occurred in the first place—and still have no answers.
Regrettably, this experience has significantly eroded my trust in Online Vacation Center.

She got us everything we wanted. The rooms in just the right place on the ship and close to each other (we were traveling with friends). It was perfect!
