I am well impressed with Only Paws. I have been with Only Paws for a few…
I have been with Only Paws for a few years.
Have never had any complaints and never had to put in a claim.
Then I did. My little cat needed an Xray and blood test.
I thought I would have a battle making a claim, but no.
Only Paws paid out with out any of the usual trying to get out of it that I had had in the past with other insurers.
So I am very impressed with them.
I have a new kitten and I am insuring her with them as well.

Disappointing
I’ve had an extremely disappointing experience with this pet insurance company. My cat began urinating outside her litter tray, and after veterinary investigations, crystals were found in her urine. Naturally, the initial concern was that this was a medical issue, so I made a claim based on the vet’s assessment and the diagnostic work that followed.
Once all investigations were complete, my vet concluded that the behaviour was behavioural rather than medical. However, the insurer then refused to pay the claim because the final diagnosis was behavioural.
This makes very little sense from a customer’s perspective. The reason the investigations were needed in the first place was to determine whether there was an underlying medical condition. You can’t know it’s behavioural until medical causes have been properly investigated and ruled out. Penalising customers for responsibly following veterinary advice feels incredibly unfair.
Insurance should provide peace of mind when you’re trying to do the right thing for your pet, not leave you out of pocket after you’ve paid for essential diagnostic tests simply because those tests ruled out a medical condition.
I wouldn’t recommend this insurer based on my experience.

We are one of the few providers that allow you to enhance your cover, providing an additional £500 for behavioural treatment. This can be added to your policy at any time and not just at renewal, details of which can be found on our website via www.onlypawspetinsurance.co.uk.

Renewal Pricing Felt Predatory — Switched providers
My renewal with Only Paws increased by 19.8% despite no change in cover. When I questioned this, I was repeatedly given the same scripted explanation about “continuous cover,” even though its irrelevant to my situation and Only Paws themselves were offering equivalent cover at a lower price on comparison sites.
The whole experience felt opaque, dismissive, and frankly predatory. Customer service didn’t engage with my concerns at all — just repeated the same line over and over. I’ve cancelled my renewal and moved to Whistle & Wag, who offer the same cover at a fair and transparent price.
Disappointing experience from a company I expected better from.

Unfortunately I had to make a claim for one of my cats recently but once I got online it was straight forward enough & then only paws contacted my vets who dealt with the claim . The only downside was lack of communication to myself as I didn't know how the claim was going .a simple email would have been appreciated but all in all a very positive experience

Only Paws used vet information from 6 years previous where I had gained advice on my Romanian rescue dog biting as a puppy. I had forgotten this was ever an issue as so much time had lapsed. They cancelled the insurance policy based on my dog showing, "aggressive tendancies" and would not pay out on my claim. They asked how my dog was on walks and I answered honestly that he pay pull or growl at other dogs as he is frightened of his own shadow but that when my friends bring dogs round they play happily in the garden. They joined the 6 year old information and the leader pulling and growling to judge him as a violent dog. Disappointed and annoyed to not cover how I feel about this as there is clearly no understanding towards puppy and rescue behaviour and how this can change and significantly improve with love and training.

Voiding a policy is a last resort and will only happen when aggressive behaviour happened before a policy started and was not disclosed during the quote journey.
If you disagree with the decision, there is an appeal process which gives you and your vet the opportunity to provide further information that may not have been included in your initial claim.
