Report them to someone!!!
Hello, can someone report them to someone or make them be investigated or something? I’m the student from Italy who was studying with them and wrote a negative review. I cannot do anything other than swearing to god in italian or asking for your help or both. please do something!!! Oxbridge and Barston are still accepting students but as soon as you mention the fraud they disappear…
Started in Hope, Ended in Administration: My Oxbridge Home Learning Nightmare
My experience with Oxbridge Home Learning has been nothing short of a disaster, and I feel compelled to share my story so that others might avoid the same fate.
It all started so promisingly back in September 2024. I enrolled in the Counselling Skills Level 3 course, full of enthusiasm and hope. Initially, everything was perfect. The materials were accessible, the platform was easy to navigate, and my tutor was responsive and helpful. It felt like I had made the right choice for my education.
However, as the months went by, this initial perfection began to fray at the edges. By July 2025, with my course due to finish in September, everything ground to a halt. The turnaround time for marking my assignments became excruciatingly long. My personal tutor, who had been a source of support, suddenly vanished. Communication with the institution became a soul-destroying exercise in futility. My emails were met with automated responses from a bot, and the phone lines might as well have been disconnected.
Then came the final, devastating blow. I discovered, not through any official communication from them, but through my own frantic research, that Oxbridge Home Learning had gone into administration in October 2025, having ceased trading in early September. I was left high and dry, my course unfinished, and the significant sum of money I had invested completely lost.
To add insult to injury, their website remains online, actively advertising courses and, presumably, still taking money from unsuspecting individuals. It is a ghost ship, luring people in with the promise of education, while the company itself is a wreck. Digging deeper, I found that the founder of Oxbridge, Matt Jones, is now associated with a new venture called Barton College, which seems to have risen from the ashes of Oxbridge's collapse. This has left me with the sickening feeling that this is a recurring business model.
Now, I am back to square one. I have to find a new university, pay for another course, and invest even more of my precious time to achieve the qualification I should have been celebrating by now. My experience has been one of disillusionment and profound discouragement. I wouldn't wish this ordeal on my worst enemy. Stay well away from Oxbridge Home Learning; you stand to lose not just your money, but also your time and your faith in distance learning.
I worked as a tutor for this company…
I worked as a tutor for this company and about 2 years ago they stopped replying to my messages and I was unable to login to my tutor portal to access marking. As a contractor they didn't bother to inform me that they no longer needed my services, they just froze me out of the system. Also, I noticed numerous mistakes in their study materials which I raised with them but nothing was ever done to fix the issues.
Extremely Disappointed – Left in Limbo After Completing My Course
I completed my NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) with Oxbridge Home Learning in May 2025 and was repeatedly told that my portfolio had been “sent for moderation” and that certification would follow in around 12 weeks.
Unfortunately, the company went into administration without warning, and since then I’ve received no certificate, no confirmation of moderation, and little response to multiple follow-up emails. My last contact was in July, and even as late as September, Oxbridge’s website was still promoting new courses — despite the fact that the company was about to close.
Many students are now left completely in the dark about their qualifications, portfolios, and whether our work was ever actually sent to NCFE for moderation. We’ve lost significant time, money, and trust, and there’s been no transparency or accountability since.
It’s deeply disappointing, as my tutors were genuinely supportive and knowledgeable, but the way this situation has been handled feels unacceptable and unethical. Students deserve answers and recognition for the hard work we put in.
Do not purchase a course with Oxbridge! They have gone bankrupt
Do not purchase a course with Oxbridge! They have gone into administration since Oct 1st 2025 and offer little/no support to those of us who have already paid money for A-Level courses and exams. I am a parent and very upset at this and the fact that I have lost over £3.7K to this company because I paid for 3 A-levels and the exams upfront as they told me they would sort this out. They can no longer assist with any course support, marking or exams because they are no longer accredited.
My son signed up to do his A-Levels here and was due to do his exams next summer. There is very little support and we are told it's our responsibility to find another provider which leaves us very frustrated and confused.
I am going to make official complaints about this company and I don't know why their website is still accepting new students and Oxbridge is still online. Their trading standards is unethical and should not be accepting any more students. Be warned!
DO NOT BUY - BANKRUPT COMPANY- BUT STILL TAKING PAYMENTS!
DO NOT BUY - THEY HAVE GONE INTO ADMINISTRATION!!!!
But they are still taking payments for courses!!!
Warning to others
Warning to others — possible scam or unethical practices
I enrolled my son with Oxbridge (online course provider) and paid around £1,500 for a course that was advertised at £1,000. Soon after payment, the company stopped answering calls or emails. Their accounts appear overdue, and I have since learned they are reportedly going into administration next month.
Despite this, their website is still active and continues to take enrolments and send emails using different names, which raises serious concerns about their business conduct.
We received no proper communication, no refund, and no course delivery. I’m posting this review to warn other parents and students to be cautious before paying any money. Please research carefully and check their financial status before enrolling.
Company gone into solvency but still…
Company gone into solvency but still operating and selling courses. complete disgrace. Matt Jones cleverly CEO continues trading using a new company logo. . Meanwhile students are left without assignments being marked, no predictive grades or academic references for university next year. Before you respond with "contact us to discuss the matter." SOLUTION. Transfer all existing students to your other company free of charge and allow them to continue their studies. I know there is absolutely no point in trying to call /email as they do not respond.
We can go after the director personally
I’ve been doing research as they owe me £7.6K for Alevel courses and their exams, which I paid via bank transfer 2 months ago and will no longer receive.
They are still taking payments, I posed as a prospective student 2 days ago and they called and emailed me within MINUTES trying to sell me courses.
If you google “gov uk object to a limited company being struck off”, it should take you to the gov page about how to object to a limited company being struck off
I can’t find the details of Oxbridge online on the gazette but my next step will be to figure this out and object to them being struck off. If they’ve already been struck off, you can petition for them to be reinstated in cases where they still owe people money. A new law was established in 2022 that allows you to hold directors financially accountable for debt as a means of preventing companies from “phoenixing” after covid loans, but it should work in this case too. It seems that the director Matt Jones has done exactly this, carrying on business as usual with “Barton College”. I will be looking for lawyers to help now. I do think that if this was done collectively, it will be more powerful. All of us need to work together somehow.
All style and very little substance
I am not at all surprised that this company has gone into administration. They should have spent more time and effort on providing high-quality teaching materials and less on trying to obtain 5-star reviews for minor interactions that have nothing to do with the teaching or materials. The prices were inflated to start with and my materials full of errors. After weeks of conveying my corrections to my tutor (I'm a proofreader), I eventually wrote a letter of complaint, to which I've never had a reply. That's simply rude. I have taken multiple home learning courses over the years and this was by far the worst. Just because something is online doesn't mean you shouldn't stick to the same standards required to produce a book. That means thorough editing and proofreading. The only good thing about the course (Astronomy) was my tutor who is a true professional.
Appaling service do not use!
We brought 3 A Level courses on the 16th of September for my son and have recieved non of them. You cannot get a person on the phone it just rings out and they don't answer emails. Do not buy a course you will loose your money!
Devastated
Devastated.
This too! BBC South also ran a feature in their evening news on 10th October 2025. 8:12 in.
I understand the owner has bought the rights from himself and has another similar company. Don't get scammed.
Absolutely disgusting joined in late…
Absolutely disgusting joined in late august when they knew they was going bust. Lost £600 and I think I saw they are under a new name Barston or something.
If they are we should all boycott the reviews and site so people are aware not to waste anymore money.
They knew they was going bust and basically conned people out of money.
They don't even deserve one star.
I just cant believe
I just can’t believe that this can happen in this country, college under administration, students left alone facing all this stress without any straight forward action to help gain our qualification. Apparently it’s our responsibility to find know another college to transfer our work which is not working for me, i have contacted couple of colleges and non of them is accepting my course work. How how is possible this, two years of all that effort and work and time to finish the course and know im left alone waiting if i can get the refund and what next, start again the course from beginning? Unbelievable.
Absolutely furious
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NOW IN ADMINISTRATION AND ARE FOR SOME REASON STILL ACCEPTING STUDENTS. Ive lost £300, my qualification and potential work due to oxbridge going into administration with at least a years intetnal knowledge of their ongoing issues which would result in administration. I started my course a year ago! Absolutely furious that they allowed people to spend hundreds of qualifications they knew they couldn't fulfil.
They’re now trading under a different name leaving us all behind! How do they sleep
The very least they could have done was transfer us to their new college!
“Closer examination revealed that Barston College is trading under the company Home Learning Ltd (Companies House ref 9622558), registered at the same address as Oxbridge and with Matt Jones also named as director.”
From the businessdesk.com
no tutors
overall the learning itself is fine, however there are no tutors left whatsoever ! up until early september everything was fine, assignments being graded quickly and tutors answering emails almost immediately. now since this new academic year has started, no work is being marked, no word from tutors, all emails unanswered and no one picking up the phone. i don’t know what to do
In Administration
In administration but still advertising courses. Your webpage should reflect this.
No contact after registering
No contact after registering. What couple of weeks I had admin was terrible after signing up and the Tutor was even worse. I am finally now aware the company is no longer accredited since it has gone into administration and it took them 2 months to tell me! Now I am at risk of not going on into University on time.
I am going through my credit card company to get a refund under section 75. I suggest you do the same asap too since it like likely to take between 60-120 days to sort it out. I have no faith in this company to progress with a refund via them, but if its your only option then do it asap.
I have also been looking to switch to other accredited online colleges, however none are accepting and have to begin again from the start. Open Award is not helpful at all and were quite abrupt actually. (Exam board) The department of education knows nothing and cannot help. National careers service were nice but not much help either. I literally have to begin from the beginning, which is also a shame because the course via Oxbridge was fine, it was just ruined by admin and tutors who failed their students and the company in my experience.
Further to my other review
Further to my other review, an update. I have spoken to the news editor at BBC and they are starting research today.
Being interviewed on camera with BBC tomorrow morning. Will keep this review updated.
Second update. My daughter and myself were interviewed by BBC South (we are in Oxfordshire) and it will be aired this evening at 6.30pm. As yet Oxbridge have failed to respond to their contact BBC.
I have also emailed Ms Bridget Phillipson who is the Secretary of State education for the UK requesting her help and possible intervention. I will keep you posted.
