From Leeds to Isle of Man
We were picked up by taxi from Leeds to Wakefield

The positives:
The taxi pickup from home in Leeds to the bus station at Wakefield went well, save that the addition of another couple towards the end meant that we were less than comfortable in a small taxi.
The return taxi journey for two was fine.

The coach was comfortable and modern, the driver Grant was amiable and helpful at all times and was knowledgeable.
The coach and ferry trips both ways were smooth.
The excursions were well chosen and enjoyable.

The negatives:
The hotel, Chester house, was well located , on the front, opposite the beach in Douglas.
But it was grim, unloved, shabby, drab and a complete let down. The front steps were minus some warning strips and there was no ramp.

Our room , 212, was poky, and dark, the carpet was stained, and full of crumbs.
The lower pane of the sash window was covered over to conceal the dreadful view of the rear of thee hotel, thus blocking out a lot of daylight.
There were few power points.

The bathroom was also poky but at least the shower and sink were relatively modern.

Breakfasts were adequate, and the bacon was good. However, the evening meals were of very poor quality, overcooked vegetables, fishcakes, or fish which was solid and which i found inedible. There was minimal choice and turkey was the main option twice in 4 days. The mushroom stroganoff consisted of mushrooms in a thin watery liquid..
On a positive note, the staff ware mainly students who were very pleasant and helpful.

My wife and I would urge fellow travellers to give this place a miss. There is no shortage of good hotels nearby.

The door to door pick up was good. Coach driver very professional & patient. Our hotel was great, food & cleanliness spot on. The tours were magical. We went to Portsmouth Historical port museum, & could have spent a few days there, so much to see.

Everything was efficient and a very high standard of hotel with good food and comfortable rooms. The pick up worked well and the driver Gary was a careful and helpful. The days out were good and interesting and enjoyable.

Windsor Castle was fabulous and to finish off the Thames
Also the company all very friendly Abit of a mix up inthe Hotel about the beds which they sorted.Staff brilliant but didn't rate the hotel

Couldn't fault the attention of the driver and all our excursions were great.
The hotel was very accomadation.

We were left by the coach at our collection point. He had to come back for us. I didn't think cream tea was luxury it was very average

My holiday was made extra special by the attentions of Judith and the driver Grant . They went above and beyond to ensue all had a good time . My one complaint is that the evening meal was buffet style . It is not good for mainly elderly guests with poor mobility to get up and down several times a meal .

Palmers Coach and driver were excellent, cannot say that for the service and food at evening meal. Starters and Desserts were good but the main course was very poor quality food. The service was very poor, not enough staff to serve the amount of people dining in the restaurant or in the section we were in.

After an excellent holiday in March to wales. This was a true disappointment.
Hotel very poor service. Not enough staff. First evening meal took 2 and 1/2 hours. Ordered beef and Yorkshire pudding. Meat inedible. Dried up chunks . Not able to cut or chew. Yorkshire pudding non existent.Hotel was very quiet first night.
Hotel busy from then on. Service still poor especially for coach tour. Food did not improve. Last night again inedible.
Hotel long way from other facilities. Outdoor pool derelict. Indoor pool still in use.
End of term party one night very busy. Hard to get to bar. Toilets disgusting. After telling reception did not improve till mentioned to bar staff.
We did enjoy each others company on our holiday . Having a laugh together. Just a shame this hotel let us and Palmers down.

Everything about the holiday ,the places we visited "Castle and Gardens of Kent"The hotel was comfortable, meals very good and staff helpful. The driver was extremely, helpful and the people on the coach very friendly.Beautiful scenery /countryside in Kent.

Going round the Cathedral is lovely, also an experience going round the Weald & Downland Museum, with all the old buildings, and agriculture machinery on view.

5 days at cricket st Thomas. Food was excellent. Evening entertainment very good. Accommodation not very good windows in room very small letting in no fresh air. Room was not cleaned once towels changed only once. Room was old fashioned not modern at all. Main house was lovely along with grounds and gardens. Although lots of Wasp's in Main building when eating. All amenities are a good walk from Room. The coach is described as luxury we disagree very limited leg room not great on a long journey.

Driver very good. Trips good. Hotel too many stairs for some of your clients and some evening meals not that grand. Staff at hotel excellent. Good door to door service.

First time travelling with Palmer holidays ‘ we would definitely recommend them. the door to door service was great & on time, our driver Bryn was an excellent driver, the hotel was lovely & staffvery helpful & the entertainment team were fabulous.

As we are getting older we like the fact we can be picked up from home and taken to our holiday coach and our cases are taken care of.. it's the same when we get to the destination. The places we have holidayed in have been of interest and the hotels have been of a good standard.

The driver was very helpful and would help in any way he could

Apart from the weather, which is beyond your control, the holiday was good. The coach was new, the driver Lewis was very good, and the tour manager was exceptionally knowledgeable. It was good to visit so many places, but the time allocated for both Harrogate and York was too short. A longer time in York and zero time in Harrogate might have worked better. The cruise on the Leeds to Liverpool canal was pleasant, but didn't deliver quite what we were expecting. 2 hours with afternoon tea would have been better. But, overall the holiday was still a good experience.
