I would not recommend
emails sent, DBS still not received – 70 days and still counting! I would not recommend them! and before you respond to this, PC, check your emails!!!

The process was very fast!
The process was very fast. I got my results within a day. I found the website easy to use and the support was timely. I would highly recommend personnel checks. I couldn't proceed with online verification, so I did my verification in the post office. It would be more helpful if they could improve their online verification system. Thanks to Jamie.

As part of your application, you were required to visit a Post Office branch to complete verification. As you are not based in the UK, we understand this was not possible. We previously advised contacting your employer to see if they can help facilitate this step.
Regarding the £12 cancellation fee, this charge is outlined in the terms and conditions agreed to during the application process, and we’re unable to remove it.

System error blamed on user, then asked to pay again
I had an issue with a DBS application because the online form didn’t allow me to enter the flat number for one of my addresses. This is clearly a limitation of the system, not user error.
I was told that the application was withdrawn by DBS because of this, and that nothing could be done by Personnel Checks, and that I would need to pay again to reapply. However, the issue comes from the form not handling certain addresses properly. It is not reasonable to shift responsibility onto the user and expect an additional payment because of a system limitation.
If something like a flat number is so important, the online form should clearly explain it. This should be made clear through a user guide or a message in the address section, rather than leaving users to deal with the consequences of a flawed form.
There was also clear miscommunication. I received an email asking for the flat number, stating that the application could be withdrawn. In a later email, I was told: “we will notify you immediately as soon as we receive a definitive update from the DBS regarding whether they can proceed with your current application.” However, no such update was ever provided.
When I followed up, I was told by Gemma that they had already informed me, referring back to the earlier email which only mentioned that the application might be withdrawn. That is not the same as confirming an outcome.
Overall, the communication was unclear and poorly handled. The email content and writing were very basic, with the exception of Levi and Bret.

I was filling out my details on the Personal Check website for my DBS application, but my driving licence number kept coming up with a “surname mismatch” error. I spent most of the day trying to fix it without any success, so I eventually called their support line.
I was fortunate to speak with a wonderful lady named Isobel Brown. She could not have been more helpful. She patiently guided me through the entire process step by step and made what had been a very frustrating situation feel completely simple and stress-free.
