In the realm of customer service, professionalism and trustworthiness are paramount. However, my recent encounter with Pop A Lock (Berea, Ky) has left me feeling utterly disappointed and frustrated. What began as an ordinary request for assistance quickly spiraled into an experience marred by deceit and unprofessionalism.
Initially, upon contacting Pop A Lock (Richmond, KY), I was quoted a price of $59 for the task at hand. The individual assured me that they would arrive promptly to undertake the job. True to their word, they arrived within fifteen minutes, yet their demeanor was far from welcoming. With a visible chip on their shoulder, the atmosphere was immediately tense.
As the individual assessed the situation, they abruptly altered the price from the previously quoted $59 to an astonishing $120. This sudden change left me bewildered and took me aback. When I voiced my concern and called them out on the blatant discrepancy, they had the audacity to laugh in my face. Such a response was not only unprofessional but deeply disrespectful, making me question the integrity of the service provider.
Determined to resolve the issue, albeit reluctantly, I proceeded to a nearby gas station to withdraw the $120 required. Returning to my car, I handed the money to the service provider, hoping to conclude the transaction and part ways. To my astonishment, they then attempted to lower the price to $80. This contradictory behavior and erratic pricing strategy further eroded any semblance of trust or confidence I had in them. Sticking to my principles, I refused their offer, recognizing the unethical nature of their actions.
This experience serves as a cautionary tale for anyone seeking reliable and professional service. The blatant unprofessionalism, coupled with the manipulative pricing tactics employed by this individual, highlight the necessity of thorough vetting and reviews before engaging with any service provider. Trust and transparency are fundamental tenets of any business transaction, and when these are compromised, the customer’s experience is severely tarnished.
In conclusion, my interaction with this particular service provider, was nothing short of a scam or rip-off. The initial quote proved to be a deceptive lure, and the subsequent price manipulation was both unethical and disheartening. The experience has underscored the importance of remaining vigilant and discerning in our choices, ensuring we demand and receive the professionalism and respect we deserve.
It was a simple task of unlocking a car door which took 2 minutes. I could have had a second key made for $120.

Don’t use this company

The technician that was sent out to put the spare on my car broke my 2 bolt. One is completely half broken
He tried saying it was already broken but I know for sure it wasn’t because I got my state inspection done 2 weeks ago and it was good. Now it was only $16 for flat tire but I have to pay $600 that tech broke it
and I can’t use my car
I called them they told me they will call me back but never call me back for 3 days
Don’t use this company

Locksmith doing flat tire repair/nasty phone rep

I requested roadside assistance from my auto insurance provider for my flat tire on the Florida Turnpike Highway. Pop a lock decided to accept my service request for roadside assistance. After waiting for a while I received a text from a Pop-a-lock technician stating he was 15 minutes away. I responded with ok thank you. Later the technician called me asking my location. I told him I had a flat tire and I was on the Turnpike Highway as I have stated several times. Also, the tracking link displayed my exact location on this highway. The Pop-a-lock technician stated that he could not come on the highway to service my flat tire. This ordeal took 50 minutes. I called my insurance company and had to wait an extremely long time for another service provider to be dispatched to me. Ultimately, it took almost 3 hours to get service. When I called Poplock’s Orlando, Florida‘s phone number at (407) 204-173 to object to how the service call was handled the woman representative was extremely rude and apathetic. She stated that Pop-a-Lock has no wrongdoing because the of the address dispatch provided. It is not just about the address that was provided, Pop-a Lock is a locksmith that doesn't advertise flat tire repairs on its Orlando website. Additionally, since they offer limited services they should have confirmed the address when the technician contacted me. I now had to wait an additional two hours for a service repair mistake that was not my own. Pop-a-Lock (knowing their limitations) should confirm the customer’s needs request instead of focusing on being the first service provider to grab a service request from the dispatching company. Especially we they are contracting out services they don't advertise for. Again, whatever contract conflict or problem that dispatchers and service providers are having is not my problem and I am not the one that should have to suffer for it. As a business, you work proactively work out the kinks. This could have easily been avoided. I have also filed a complaint against the dispatcher.

Almost immediate response

I have now had pop-a-lock(Alford)out about six times,3/4 times for a friend & twice for myself,each time he has come out within half an hour,he knows what he’s doing & is very helpful & friendly & is the first one I turn to with any problems with any locks on doors or cars etc

I had a great experience my ignition locked up on my 2009 Ford flex and they told me exactly what to do and it worked.I appreciate it so much they're the best.

I got pics

I got pics. This is pop lock in Brooklyn I believe. They got 2 roadside requests from me. The first time he said his jack wouldn't lift my truck🤔 he said he would send someone else he didn't. So I request roadside again he never came same guy. Yet he marked that he did. I told Verizon but they don't care. So he got paid for nothing smh. I may switch phone service and just go thru my app.

Ruined locks x 2. -…

The Guy showed up on a timely manner- only good thing I can say- ruined 2 locks after working for over an hour! Never got in my house - my son got off work and came over and figured out how to get into the storm door in 5 minutes Pop a lock told me it was because my “locks” were all too old - I had my son replace the locks he ruined - will not use them again.

Incompetent and Unapologetic

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THESE people. I scheduled an appointment 15 hours in advance and they managed to get the Name, car and address wrong! When the tech began arguing with me about the appointment details, I asked if they hadn't gotten everything wrong then how did he have my phone # "Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhh" was his reply. Instead of turning around from the WRONG DIRECTION, he apparently took another call instead. Having taken time off from work and setting the appointment the prior day, he didn't like that I was upset and was reluctant to reschedule if it was on his day off. When I pushed back, he said I was 'blacklisted' and hung up. I called the 'remote call center' and was lied to again. NONE of this would have happened if they were competent. No one apologized, explained, offered a discount or mad ANY effort to make it right. PLEASE use local businesses. I don't know if this is a franchise but I wouldn't recommend this as it currently staffed. I called a local place right after and everything was dome efficiently and honestly. I just have to wait 3 days since I made the mistake of calling 'Pop-a Lock'. Call ANYONE else unless you want to waste a day off or get 'blacklisted' by people who don't care about the customers or their competence. All they had to do was try to make it right. Getting a key shouldn't be so hard.

Pathetic Service and customer care

Pathetic Service and customer care. It’s a straight up scam and lie. My rental car company unfortunately contacted them to unlock the vehicle. It took them more 4 hours to reach within the city. Customer care representatives are rude and lied each time about the ETA.
Highly NOT Recommended!!!

They ran my car through my house because they let a guy who was new and didn’t know how to drive manual in the driver seat while he was checking if the key worked but he didn’t press the breaks he pressed the gas petal like a f*ing idiot and broke everything

Crappy service

requested a jump start in SE Austin at my employers address. I had been working late. The car was parked out in front of the business's entrance. A DOD contractor.

I was given no expectation of when to expect service to arrive.

I got a text message that a person had been dispatched. I started heading to the car. I got a call but then phone did not ring, unrecognized numbers get forwarded to voice mail. I noticed the call as walking and called back. I literally was on the phone with the driver while inside this secure office space .
I exited the. building and got the drivers attention. Pop a Lock while I was on the phone with the driver cancelled the service. THis was in a span of 2 minutes. I had been waiitng 45 minutes with no clue to even whether they were going to respond to the call.

Then pop a lock dispatcher said that he tried called my number. I was on the phone with the driver. I may phones logs have no record a called from the dispatcher.

I was in front of pop a locks driver, when he took a call from dispatch and was told to not provide service.

This all happened within a span of 2-3 minutes.

They honestly don’t care if you live or die

Unfortunately, my insurance company contracts with pop-a-lock for roadside assistance. Nobody showed up for over an hour and a half. When I called the number my insurance company gave me, they did not help at all. Still waiting, I called back. The person on the phone was rude and lied. When I asked her to let me speak to the manager, she gleefully said “I am the manager. Surprise!” and hung up on me. This is while I was stranded with a dead battery, in temps of nearly 100 degrees, with four kids. This is the Staten Island NY branch specifically.

I am not a customer

I am not a customer. I work for the management company for the building where someone had called for service. The service technician parked in a 10 minute parking area. Our guard went up to the tech to find out how long he would be and the tech waved him off. The guard told him he just wanted to know how long he would be here and the tech just kept walking and gave him the finger.
When the tech came back out, about 10 mins later, I told him all the guard needed was an estimate on how long he would be. I asked why he would just wave him off and then give him the finger? Proudly he replied "Yes I did." I told him there is a right and a wrong way to do things and that wasn't the right way. He didn't reply. He just got in his van and left.
I did call their office and spoke to a manager there who apologized and said he would talk to him about it.
He was not a good representative for their company at all.

Lady came out within 10 minutes when our lock wouldn't work. She was knowledgeable professional and really helpful and polite. Wouldn't hesitate to use again. She knows her locks!
