We had three discs that had been through a fire. PDR was able to get two of them to spin up and retrieve the data. The third wouldn't so they were able to pull it apart and get the data that way. Very easy to see your data via the online system to confirm that everything is there that you wanted/needed. Staff is always available and very helpful!

In August of 2014 my TB hard drive crashed. I gave the to Proven Data Recovery and a week later I had my hard drive back and all my information was there. I would recommend Proven Data Recovery to everyone.

Mark was very prompt returning initial phone call as well as responding to any questions/comments I posted to the ticket. Pick-up of disk was same-day and person-to-person (as opposed to mailing it somewhere). He assured me that great care would be taken to get the most data possible off my failed drive.

Initial estimate was below the final cost (as I recall), but the company was very open to adjusting cost based on my expectations and notes from initial discussion - something else that was pleasant and unexpected.

I would recommend this company to anyone with a failed disk drive.

They keep you up-to-date on the status of your recovery, which is so helpful and allows you to manage your expectations. One error was when the wrong hard drive was returned to me but they immediately sent out the correct one with all postage paid. Mistakes happen but it's somewhat rare when a company immediately admits it and goes the extra mile to make everything right for the customer. Highly recommended.

I came back from a blissful vacation only to have the first abysmal experience of having my SD memory card infected by a nasty virus known as Cryptowall, which encrypts data files with a super strong virtual key enabling a type of Ransomware that has to be paid to the cyber criminal scumbags in order for the files to be restored through an anonymous abomination currency known as Bitcoin. Anyone who has had this happen to them knows how devastating this feeling is like losing a loved one so there I was feeling awful and angry the entire month. To make matters worse, there were no other data recovery service that could help due to the extreme difficulty of eliminating the virus, not even one of those big name, commercialized tech tools who ended up misleading me, wasting 3 weeks of my time! Nevertheless, they rectified their incompetence through a refund and gift card so now they're not that bad after all but still the time lost sucks..

The total recovery process took about 7 days and this crew was even kind enough to ship it directly to my home, aside from sending me a Zip file which could be saved to a hard drive.
The only thing about this process that set me way back was the price and I have to say get ready to spend an amount equal to 2 months' rent in a big city if you are serious about your data being recovered. My Mac Book Pro froze and then would not reboot so I took it to the Apple Store and the genius there said the hard drive had failed but he could see my data and that it should not be too difficult to retrieve. He recommended that I go to Micro Center. Micro Center confirmed that they could see the data but could not retrieve it and said they would have to send the laptop to Boston. I found the techs at Micro Center to be condescending and rude. Even though I had brought a drive to put the recovered data on they tried to sell me a new drive saying that since my drive had been used previously they could not put my files on it.
I decided to find someone else and took my Mac Book home. Micro Center charged me $35 for doing nothing.

Although data recovery is expensive, it was my own fault for stupidly not backing up my work. Proven's price was right in line with all of the data recovery services I spoke with.
