Car Park
I work in an office at Regus house Exeter and the car park use to be free. Then they decided to bring out a charge for parking so now have to pay parking cost on top of this I was issued with a parking ticket for parking at Regus, Emperor Way, Exeter on 15th June 2023. The car was parked there between 7:30am and 5:00pm. I have been charged £100.
I subsequently responded to CPM and appealed this charge as I believe that it was issued unfairly. The location where I was parked is my usual place of work, however, I was not using the car that I normally use on this day due to maintenance required on my main vehicle.
On the two days prior to the date when the ticket was issued, the car I was using was parked with a visitor’s permit displayed. On the day when the ticket was issued, I attempted to contact the reception team at the Regus building in order to obtain a visitors pass but was unable to do so. Due to no one being at the desk. Once I did finally see a member of staff I was informed there was no tickets available and I will be okay and if I do get a ticket Regus will sort it out.
In response to my appeal, CPM state that a valid permit was not displayed on my vehicle – which is the case – however, you may or may not be aware that due to a limited number of visitors passes being available, the reception team at Regus keep a list of numberplates for vehicles belonging to individuals who work in the Regus building.
The parking attendant from CPM who visits our car park would fulfil his usual duties, and then come into the building to speak to the reception team to check if any of the cars parked without permits are expected to be there, and whether or not they should be issued with a notice.
With this in mind, it is quite common to find vehicles parked legitimately, but without a parking permit on display.
As the ticket was issued for parking at my normal place of work (albeit in a different vehicle to normal) and the circumstances on the day meant that I was not able to obtain a valid permit, I believe I am not liable.
Finally when I did get the fine I spoke to a member of Regus and I was informed to bring the letter in on monday and they will sort it out. So I brings the fine in only to find out the member has left and the others could not do any thing about it.
Disappointed is an understatement. Toilets are dirty and the hot water for tea on our floor do not work.
