One star as couldn't rate at 0 or less!!
Waste of money .... Did one and a half of one side of 4 6'x6' plus one 3'x6' panelled fence with diluted Ronseal fence paint (to thick to spray as-was so diluted in line with given instructions)... However, even that required CONSTANT cleaning of filters after the first side of the first two panels... and for the final sides of the last two 6x6 and the 3x6 panels the sprayer only produced a single and very weak jet despite full pressure in the cylinder!! Ended up doing those panels with a paintbrush!!!
Supposed to quicker?? Liar liar, tongue on fire... with time wasted on cleaning filters, etc it would have been a job done far quicker using the paint brush from start to finish....
Sprayer now consigned to land fill....

I couldn't give zero so had to give one star.we have just used this on our shed and it was horrendous, thin amd took 6 coats .i contacted ronseal and was offered 4 pound back, told them to keep their four pound and contacted amazon who have offered a full refund .we bought some from aldi to re do it and it was fantastic highly recommend,so no it doesn't do what it says on the tin

Réponse de Ronseal
Be honest and accurate when describing colour

Réponse de Ronseal
This paint is awful it's so watery it does NOT do what it says on the tin and it's certainly not a one coat job don't waste your money buy another brand

Réponse de Ronseal
Appalling product and a complete waste of £30. I spent more time cleaning it out than I did spraying even though I used the Ronseal treatment specified. Save yourself some money and just buy a fence brush for £6 from Wickes. Also the Wickes fence treatment is far superior and a much better colour which I used to cover the Ronseal treatment. This is just a cheap gimic of a product and would be over priced if it sat on the shelves of Poundland! I work as a fencing contractor on sites and have finally managed to actually tackle my own at home. I really wish I didn't bother now and will definitely be boycotting Ronseal products from now on

Do not trust what is written on the tin. This company gives false promises on their products, after contacting customer services I received email after email asking for this information and that information none of which was relevant to their promise stamped on the product, only to then receive a long winded email implying we haven’t a clue how to paint a gate!!! We’ve been decorating our property for over 20 years and this is the first issue we’ve had clearly it’s the product. Absolutely rubbish company with rubbish products. Don’t waste your hard earned cash! Buy another brand, we certainly will be.

If l could do minus stars l would have. Ronseal fence sprayer is absolutely RUBBISH! and does “not do what it says on the tin!!!”. I had spoken to a friend who’d told me “sprayers are not worth it” but l thought l knew better. I read all the instructions to make sure l was doing everything correctly, cos l was going to have my shed painted before the spin cycle had finished on my washing machine! Ready to start:
Ronseal fence paint….check! Stirred to an inch of its life…check! Thin enough with no lumps….check. Pumped the canister…check. Here goes…. The paint came out like an old fella with a urine problem… not even a decent drip!! ( no offence to old fellas, an working in the heath service l know these things!). Soooo my son opened the nozzle to check ( big mistake) a splurt got him under the chin! I laughter coz after all it was funny. After me running water through the nozzle, son cursing, l connected again. Here goes 2nd time…. Pumped handle again and hurray yesss l have… er two little sprays? Going in different directions! East and west! Son not impressed again as he’d decided to use a brush, and my sprits was covering him not the shed!!! Ok soo l looked at nozzle hose pump ect again! As ld taken everything apart it was now all over my hands, and spots on my feet, legs. I filled the sink and threw all bits into it. Soaked them…. Blew??!! out filters cleaned all with a brush… this was NOT going to defeat me! Ok all done… what can l say 2hrs later, having spent more time standing at the sink washing and unblocking the nozzle ld had enough! I wasn’t laughing now was l! I’d only managed to spray myself, not shed, l had tiny little dribbles and spits, and didn’t know what was freckles and what was paint. Very little had managed to reached the shed, and if lucky enough to work came out in a sad dribble! All in all my son had painted shed with a good ole fashioned brush! Take my advice don’t bother buying! For the sake of your own mental sanity nothing beats a good BRUSH!!!

Well already made contact wwith this company regarding a fence treatment called ONECOAT
Well let me tell you that after four yes four coats of this so-called ONECOAT the substance started to fall off the fence. I now have to find a reliable fence coating that should at least stay on longer than ONECOAT.
WHAT A RIDICULOUS NAME TO CALL THIS USELESS SUNSTANCE. I contacted Ronseal and one of the idiots stated after I told him that I would contact some agency for support regarding the poor performance and got greeted with 'Well good luck with that then and let us know how it goes'!
Poor customer service! The date is an estimate for when I (ho :ho : ho painted the fence.
Further statement dated 19th May 2025
I hope you do not need payment receipts for that load of rubbish called ONECOAT. I can send you phhoto attachments and will measure the fence for you!

Absolute terrible product. Bought the decking stain and in less than 9 months, without the decking being used it has all come away and looks awful. Spent a lot of money on this and a lot of time prepping and painting. Customer service not interested at all. Don't waste your money (or time)!
Also received a reply as below and then heard nothing from.them! Terrible products and terrible customer service!

Réponse de Ronseal
Don't waste your money. I bought a large tub of Ronseal paint for my garden shed. It was just like water and simply didn't cover. Not sure if even ten applications would do the job. The colour was also supposed to be sage green but was actually blue. Ronseal should be ashamed of themselves and so should stockists who heavily promote this stuff. Verging on contravening the Trades Description Act.
PS (added after original posting): I see Ronseal themselves reply to some here saying they have "high standards". Not high enough standard to improve their paint so they don't achieve a 90 pc poor rating. Quite frankly Ronseal your product is so bad I would like my money back. And if you doubt my word I have photos to prove it - with pictures using your paint and that of a competitor.
MY REPLY TO RONSEAL'S COMMENT:
Thank you for getting in touch, which I really appreciate. I look forward to discussing the issue.
NOT SURE IF RONSEAL WANT MORE INFO BUT PERHAPS THIS WILL HELP:
I have a shed that's a few years old and I wanted to rejuvenate its appearance. I sanded the wood first of all though there was no blistering anyway. I then stirred the paint thoroughly (which appeared a definite blue rather than sage and very watery) and applied a coat. There didn't appear to be any colour as I brushed it on. Once it dried there was no colour. The next day I applied another coat. Again, virtually no colour. I then bought a competitor's paint. What a difference. Much thicker. Covered easily...and the right colour. Took a picture showing half and half - Ronseal and the new paint.
As of 26 May, still haven't heard from Ronseal despite giving more information as they requested. Doesn't seem they were really interested. But all rather academic now as I have moved on and happy with the new paint (i.e. from a competitor) I bought.
Edit 30 May 2025: For those following this saga, it has ended but not quite so amicably. After a great many emails going back and forth telling me I hadn't stirred it enough, try it using a spatula, try it using a big wooden spoon, can they have more pictures...they ended up saying I'd need to strip the shed down to bare wood and apply two coats. Well, I had originally given it a good sanding and wire brush and given it two coats to no avail. And even if you had completely bare wood two coats still wouldn't do it. It is so thin. But you know what? As compensation they offered me another tin...completely free of charge! I won't print what my real answer is. Their only plus point is the polite and prompt way they deal with a complaint. That said, you could hardly expect a manufacturer to say their product is rubbish could you? And likewise, Ronseal, you can hardly expect me to ever buy your products again. End of matter. Make up your own mind folks.

Avoid spending your money on the most useless piece of kit on the market. Absolute garbage, spraying fan to jet to fan to jet even after constantly stopping to clean / flush through. Need to water down the Ronseal "sprayable" fence paint to get any kind of flow.
Don,t waste your money / time on this, get a 4" brush & do it manually, save yourself some heartache.

I bought a 500 ml tin of Ronseal Wood Hardener. When I tried to open it, the whole plastic lid and pourer came out of the tin, and when I tried to pour it out the sticky liquid spilt all over the place. I then tried to put the pourer and lid back into the tin opening and thought I had succeeded, but then I knocked the tin over with a cable and the lid and pourer came back out. I now have half the tin of liquid on the garage floor making a large stain and a noxious smell. I also got it on my hands and shoes.
The design of the lid is meant to make it safer, but it is clearly defective and dangerous. I have read other similar reviews going back five years. One poor person said their glasses were damaged by splashes. I am not sure why Ronseal has not changed the packaging. Perhaps Trading Standards or the Health and Safety Executive need to look at this.
Update: Thank you for your reply Ronseal. I have tried to send a direct response to your request for more details, but it sent before I could add any details. I can only add that the design problem is that when trying to remove the cap, the whole plastic fitting comes out of the tin far too easily. It is then impossible to pour accurately as there is just a circular hole in the tin. It is also difficult to get the plastic fitting back into the hole in the tin so it stays there securely, as I found when it came out again spilling half the tin on the floor and my hands and shoes. I am concerned that this is a safety hazard for other users, and I have seen reviews where other people have reported similar accidents with bad consequences. I am happy to give further details though I believe the nature of the problem is clear and needs to be acted upon swiftly.

Bought Ronseal Fence Plus Slate two tubs 9 Liters each. mixed paint before use. Painted before fence shed was ok c5 years back. This time it is nightmare. The paint hardly covers the shed panels or fence. Colour starts to be uniformed after 5 coat..... Not sure what did you do over 5 years to your product but it is not same quality, it is rubbish., done with those maybe 10m of fence one side, and front of shed 3x2.2m, to finihs the job in the garden with this ration I will need another 4 tubs, and week to paint and wait to repaint. Can you advise what is going on??? I have bought Cuprinol and another think wickes small cans to test different paints and they work ok with one coat compering to the Ronseal. Taken fresh plank of wood one raw, second smooth, tried same issue first two coats hardly any color left, on third starts to come out but a lot of gaps post drying up, fifth coat starts to look proper, but still places where wood is visible... I expected better, if I do not hear form you guys will buy competitors products and never get back to you.

Ronseal one coat is absolutely garbage. Had to use at least 4 coats of paint.
Ronseal are not being honest about this product
I will NOT now buy any ronseal products at all.
The reviews that are 5 star are either lying or painting over the same colour.
I think the trades description act, may have some thing to say about the marketing on this paint.

Réponse de Ronseal
First of all I find it fascinating that the Ronseal Trustpilot reviews are so overwhelmingly negative...Maybe it's time for some introspection on the part of Ronseal.
I sent them an email recently with a picture of fence I'd painted some years ago. I was hoping that as the experts in their own products they might be able to give me an opinion on what colour it might have been so that I could match it with one of their more current products.
Zero response.
Not even, "Sorry, but there are too many variables to come up with reasonable answer."
Their customer service apparently doesn't do what it says on the tin. Or if it does, it's pretty poor customer service from such an established business.
Update:
Even your dumb copy and paste response below shows that you haven't even read what I wrote. My issue is with your customer service not your product!
My email was sent on Sat 3 May at 06h08 to the CS address on your website.
But to save your time I've since bought one of your products and as it wasn't a match just had to repaint the whole fence...No need for further follow up.

Bought a large tub of Ronseal One Coat in Charcoal Grey to paint a wooden bench and a wooden planter- why this is called one coat I don't know! The paint is like water and I've had to use 4x coats on the bench and I can still see the old paint underneath it, the wood just soaks it up! It's certainly not one coat and I'm sure the paint should be much thicker to cover whatever your painting. I won't be buying this stuff ever again, very time consuming and ultimately doesn't do what it says it does

Indoor white satin paint. Absolutely terrible worst paint I’ve ever bought. Thin milky transparent liquid doesn’t cover at all complete waste of money.

I bought 2 tins of Ronseal fence life plus today 28th April 2025.
On removing the paint from the boot of my car the handle on one of the tubs snapped resulting in the paint tub dropping to the floor and smashing. Subsequently there is paint all over the driveway, car and my husband’s brand new hooka trainers.
Sent an email and got fobbed off about lid security and ease of intentional removal, however if they had read the email the lid was intact it was the handle which was faulty.
Sent another email which has been ignored !!!!
So a full tin of paint all over my drive, brand new £110 trainers ruined and Ronseal accept no responsibility and blame the customer do not buy from them
Update - Ronseal replied they wanted to reach out to me on 8th May it is now 18th May and nothing further from them so much for putting it right !!!!!

Réponse de Ronseal
Ronseal Black Gloss Anti Corrosive Metal Paint. Politely, absolutely useless. 3 coats applied last autumn on railings, having removed existing rust and surface cleaned per instructions. Outcome - rusting next Spring. Hours of work, waste of money and waste of time. This water based paint is technically not fit for purpose. I'm back with solvent based Zinsser for a more predicable outcome.
Update on 08-May-2025 following a request via Trustpilot for 'details to discuss more about what has occurred here'.
Should Ronseal need any further information, I suggest that they look at the 1 star reviews under Screwfix item code 733KH for this 'paint' (currently 24 1 star reviews listed) . To copy a few review titles - "Terrible paint. It covers like coloured water", "Utterly useless", "Worst paint I have ever used.", "Shocking paint", "Thin paint that flakes in no time...", "DO NOT BUY THIS PAINT". No point in me elaborating further. The critical reviews of so many unsatisfied users should give as much detail as needed.

We've bought 3x 12l tubs of Ronseal One Coat Fence Paint, and hiw it says one coat I don't know, we trusted in the brand name Ronseal and as my husband and myself are in our 50s and we have back problems, we bought the ronseal sprayer which we have no issues with, we thought one coat brilliant, but my husband is painting the fence again, it's had near enough 2 coats already and it's definitely gonna need another one, so that's gonna be near on £90 we've spent on this paint, previous tenants did paint the fence a grey colour on one part of the fence and patches of red on the other 3 fencing, but that wa nearly 4 years ago, so not a happy customer and I certainly can't give good feedback with this sadly
