Sessions College Avis 

I registered, enrolled, and completed the Multimedia Design certificate program. I thought the cost was a bit too steep at first but once I got started with the program I soon found I was wrong about my initial thought.

The instructors were excellent - their feedback was always thorough and informative. Any questions I had were quickly answered. The lesson were well-written and organized. The assignments were easy to follow and enhanced the material learned.

Academic advisors did not micromanage but did periodically check in to see how I was doing in the course.

Overall, I enjoyed my time completing the course. The skills learned are invaluable!!! I’d recommend anyone to invest in the program!

I enjoyed every single course at sessions. The teachers are there to teach and guide you through every step of the way. They inspire you and encourage you to give every assignment your best! It’s something I really appreciated. They could easily chose not to, with all the courses being online, but they do, you can bother them with your questions and they will have answers and they’re very patient. I started as someone with little to no knowledge in digital art and now I feel a lot more confident about showcasing my digital art skills. Sessions provides a supportive and nurturing environment to their students even with the classes being fully digital. I have attended classes at famous art colleges in the US and none of them even come close to the sincerely shown by the staff at sessions or their curriculum. They really do their best to prepare you for a job in the field of digital arts.

The school is great, and the idea is great too. I like the way everything is built. The one thing that I dislike and sometimes it made me angry, that some teachers could spend literally almost a week to answer your one tiny question. I can't say that about all teachers, some of them were really fast and helpful, but with some of them I have never gotten the answers, which made me hate online education for sure.

The program was very informative, however, the lecture examples and projects felt a little bit outdated. Sadly, you don't get to keep this information for life to revisit and I was a little disappointed by that because some of the tutorials I would love to keep forever. You cannot download videos and the lecture notes aren't easily downloadable without copying and pasting the text into a separate document. I would love to see more examples of the exercises to understand what the standard and expectations are for the work. I also found a lot of the supplemental resource links were broken or websites had expired.

The professors gave great feedback and most of them responded promptly. I had a couple of professors that took longer than what their syllabus says they'd respond. I went to one of them for some additional book recommendations and general insight on designing for marketing communications but she sent me a basic link to a graphic design inspiration website that anyone could look up and it wasn't really related to what I was asking. I would have appreciated if the professors had psuedo "office hours" or post when they'd be offline for an extended amount of time that way you'd know for sure they would be online because it took one professor a long time to grade my work.

Some things I would add to the program were an extended reading section with published books that I could look to for more learning. Also, a lecture dedicated to laying out work for different projects, a lecture, or whole class on InDesign because a lot of companies use it and require it on resumes and positions, and finally I would love a portfolio lecture because I had completed all this work but still have no idea what the best websites or ways to display my work.

Finally, for my experience with Sessions advisors, there was a bit of miscommunication for completing my program as I was in contact with about 3-4 different advisors. They were also having issues communicating with each other about my grades and CC me multiple times in emails because one or another wasn't responding. I was also told that I needed Adobe Creative Cloud before I started the course, but a week into the program my advisor emailed me a discount code to Adobe Creative Cloud but unfortunately, I had to miss out on saving some money.

Great program overall. I learnedly lie and achieved my learning goals Some of the instruction was written by other authors than the actual course instructor which resulted in conflicting instruction. In the remote environment this caused some frustration as you only learned of the differences days. I would have liked the experience more had the instructors and online instruction been in sync.

Excellent experience. The lectures are very thorough, and the exercises are designed not only to develop skills and techniques covered in the lectures, but also to simulate client projects. The courses Sessions provides have helped me develop a skillset in areas of design I had no previous experience with, such as working with Adobe Software, as well as further developed the design skills I already possessed. Canvas, the platform used to provide coursework, is very easy to use and streamlines course tasks in a very organized and straightforward manner.

A minor note would be that a small amount of links provided in the lectures and discussions, such as to articles or artist portfolios, are somewhat out of date in that they have been removed from their sites (in the cases of articles) or are no longer relevant to the lesson (such as an artist who changed the content of their portfolio which had to be critiqued in a discussion.) However, these scenarios are easy to work around. Overall an excellent experience.

I think that Financial’s aid needs to be improve there ways

I thought the program itself was straightforward and easy to follow for an online curriculum. I like how organized it was and it was very easy to follow. The professors would reply and give feedback about assignments in a good timeframe, I never had trouble trying to speak to any of my professors. An honest critique I would give would be to fix some interface when using a mobile phone. I studied a good amount from my phone and certain pages would not match up with the screen for mobile. Certain classes would have a fitted frame and made it easier to study from.

Sessions has been an amazing experience! I really enjoyed this school. I really wanted to go to school but attending a campus wasn’t in the books for me with homeschooling my 3 kids. Being able to attend Sessions online allowed me the flexibility I needed, not only doing it from home but it also allowed flexibility with my hours and what time a day I could do school work (mostly after my kids went to bed or were busy doing their own thing). My local campus also didn’t offer the art program I was looking for (Limited art time too) and Session had the Illustration program. From the time I started to the time I graduated, I grown so much as an artist and really found my art style while attending Sessions. I would highly recommend attending Sessions. I plan to go back for my Bachelors.

Communication was a little cumbersome as I never knew who to talk to: Ivy Tech, Ed2Go, or Sessions. Some instructors were better than others. It has been over a month and still have not gotten confirmation of the completion of my certificate.

I have completed the Professional Certificate in Web Design program. My overall experience is good, teachers were helpful but sometimes it took them forever to grade a project. This is not my first course but this one is the most expensive and not the best one. For this money it could be better. Not all my questions were answered and some were even ignored. And also it takes forever to get the certificate of completion. I finished the program in the middle of September and now it’s almost November and I am still waiting for the certificate.

I was really impressed with the program and would recommend it to anyone who is considering enrolling. The teachers are real pros and know what they are talking about. It was an excellent experience for me and my confidence at work has increased. I even asked for and got a raise.

Most of my teachers were very nice but brutally honest with their feedback. It was very helpful. For one of my teachers, it took several weeks and 2 emails for her to thoroughly respond to me. But aside from that great experience with the teachers.

My rating is mainly for the lessons. Not all but many of them had grammatical errors and concepts were explained very poorly. The attempt to do so in a somewhat colloquial manner was appreciated but not executed effectively. I needed to google a lot of things especially marketing concepts.

Several of my classes had year(s) old discussion threads, notifying me of things that my teacher was out of town or other things that weren’t relevant to the course.

In summary the course material needs an update and a good editor.

Also, a certification is nice, but I don’t think I really learned much from this. All things I could have learned online for a lot cheaper.

All the teachers did a amazing job with replying and helping when needed. All of the courses really did help with acquiring the needed knowledge. I liked that they gave constructive criticism when grading and telling me what needed to be done to make the projects better. The only thing that I wish was different was the video production and editing courses projects. They pretty had the exact same projects and lessons. I wish the web development class had video examples of lesson 6 when coding for mobile devices. It was kind of hard to understand. Also I did wish some of the courses dug a little deeper for the amount of money spent. I’m struggling with finding jobs due to the lack of knowledge but for a rough overview the multimedia arts program is a very good course to take and I am pleased that I took it.

Great program. Easy to follow, with the support needed to succeeded.

I was very impressed with the patients the instructor had with me. I'm 49 and am self tought on Lightroom and had to unlearn quite a few things. Taz allowed me on several occasions to resubmit my work with some positive feedback and suggestions. I can only get better and improve my craft with that kind of instruction. I am now looking forward to continuing my online education.

I really enjoyed being a student at Sessions. The amount of work was huge, but my learning curve was correspondingly steep, so it was worth the sweat :) Teachers were quick to respond to any questions, and they all gave valuable feedback to assignments. All in all a great experience.

Nothing compares to Sessions! Their online learning experience makes it possible for busy people to earn a degree at home!

I loved my time at Sessions. I hope to take more classes soon.
