Recently it has got even worse if that is possible. The fees have gone sky high no option to collect some items when you are already collecting others from the same place. The quality of the stuff for sale is dreadful, Dirty used broken, at one point things were often repairable or cheap enough to take a chance a throw away. Suddenly the bidding has rocketed it feels set up as often the item reappears days later or is offered as a second chance. This is recent add that to the state of the items being sold and its just not worth the risk.
You can't get a bargain when the bids are driven up to a silly level.

I used to buy here quite a lot and some items were ok some were awful but it was win some, lose some and I'm ok with that happy to take a chance. Now it's actually cheaper buying on Facebook Ebay Aldi or Amazon Warehouse. Also far less risk as you have the chance to view/return. My advice DON'T Gamble the House always wins.

I didnt know how the deposit money…

I didnt know how the deposit money went. I paid £205 deposit for the auction next day. Bought £289 worth of items.
I emailed them several times politely asking how it worked before I paid the invoice. Never got a reply back until after the 48hrs as it was a weekend. Went back on to pay my invoice and I was locked out for not paying quick enough.
Now they mustve seen i had attempted SEVERAL TIMES to ask someone to just explain to me how the deposit money worked,and I assured them I would definately pay, but their communication is absolutely diabolical. They locked me out and my items went to the next bidder down. I phoned to explain but got no joy.
Never again will I use Simon Charles. First and last time, and I buy lots from auctions.
SIMON CHARLES AUCTION is the worst one out.

Shocking …

Drove 30 miles to pick up a dining table however they could not find the complete item. Tried to blag me saying I’ve got what I ordered and said that was all that was advertised box 2 of 2 however pointed out the description which didn’t meantion anything other than grade 1 dining table which they couldn’t provide. Reluctantly offered to give me a refund but then vanished without taking my account details etc no receipt or transaction agreement. The best I could get was a squiggle on my invoice stating item not found so will have to waste more of my time getting a refund via the main office all in all avoid this place like the plague

Awful just beyond awful.
I have bought from many auction houses and know things are not perfect however Simon Charles is the worst experience I’ve had. They are actively deceptive cover things up lie the staff lie the customer service is rude and disrespectful. An item is described as boxed but no mention that it’s smashed in pieces. Dirty filthy items broken damaged beyond repair listed as “boxed” giving the impression of new. Items listed as new but no mention that it has no side. Fair enough on the odd item but it’s every item Do not expect a refund either for a table with 3 legs a coffee table with a huge chunk out of a chair that turned out to be half a desk. Literally straight to the tip. Please don’t say read the descriptions. I buy at auction all the time and have had the odd decent thing from them but the gamble never pays I’ve lost way more. Also if you ask for more information and the item has faults they don’t respond until after the auction strange that.

Everything is just dirty used rubbish and everything has a fault or it wouldn’t be there.

I have bought several items

I have bought several items, a logic cast iron Dutch oven, coffee beans & ground speakers and more.
Each item has been exactly what I wanted .
Some of the coffee is slightly out of date but I was aware of that when I bid on it.
All items are well packaged and delivered quickly.

All the people complaining, read the information they clearly state items are not tested and sometimes they use stock photos .
For me the only thing I would like them to change would be the option to have the collection items delivered, I would of been more than happy to pay for a chair I wanted to be delivered a few days ago but it's not a option unfortunately

Waist of money

Items are advertised as not checked, as if you may by chance get an item that works or is usable, so I was tempted. Unfortunately my experience was waist of money. All my items purchased useless and not working. Lesson learned !

Atrocious products and service

Atrocious products and service. I bid on an electric toothbrush. No mention of it being used or broken at all on the listing.
Product arrived and it has *blood* on the toothbrush bristles, unboxed and broken. I paid over £20 for this.
Sent them emails but had no response. Have contacted trading standards - they can't keep doing things like this to people.
If you work for this company and are reading this, you should be ashamed.

One time ship the wrong item and after back and forth they refund.
But i am giving this review due to the issue DEPOSIT

1. They cap your deposit and never mention to refund it. I made the deposit in March 2022, £205, for some reasons i went through my bank statement when doing the tax return and notice this amount.

2. Emailed them and this is what they say"Agent 848835 Tuesday, 29th November 2022 - 2:04pm

Hi Paul

Thank you for your email.

We do not automatically refund deposits; we do ask that if customers would like their deposit refunding, they email us with the request, as you have done. I have, therefore, passed your refund request through to the Accounts department, and they will be in touch with an update as and when they have processed your request. Please note, however, that once your deposit is refunded to you, the bidding cap will come into force again."

3. Never mention about the admin fee when you made the deposit BUT IF YOU WANT YOUR MONEY BACK, THEY CHARGE 5£ WITHOUT TELLING YOU.

Don't use this website. They sell only rubbish and the fees is expensive! I bought around 7 items all ended up in the trash bin.

1 star is compliment for these lot I recently won 2 lots and didn’t receive the items got messed about for over a week ringing and emailing them constantly for something I paid for. They don’t reply or pickup and when I left them a bad review they blocked my acc what a flippin joke. So now I’m down by £93 pound no money refunded no one called me to speak to me about my items and apparently every time I want to speak to the manager he’s out he’s busy. So now I’m left with no money no items and blocked account for leaving a review. Just look at the reviews on this place they’re atrocious I have never seen that many bad reviews at one time. Also they sell faulty items as not checked
And con people it’s happened to too many people please be aware

Really Awfull

Really awfull! I have bought some products from them and the way they wrapped damage all the packagings... You could see on the pictures it were all right. They put lots of cellotape, stickers and no bubble wrapp. When I made a complaint about the poor packaging that damaged my products they said there was nothing they could do it about and that I should have seen it before. BUT THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING, THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE PRODUCT BUT HOW THEY SENT! THE HAVE THE DAMN PICTURES SHOWING THE CELLOTAPE AND EVERYTHING DAMAGING MY PRODUCTS AND THEY JUST DON'T CARE! SO BE AWARE WITH WHAT YOU BUY THERE AS THEY MUST SENT IN A BIN BAG AND YOUR ITEMS WILL ARRIVE ALL DAMAGE!!

Love it there

Love it there! How people are disappointed is beyond me - basic reading skills and looking at the pictures. All stuff can be broken unless stated otherwise so bid accordingly- it’s simple and goes with all the auction sites everywhere. Bonus points for packaging -outstanding!- item is safe in a hundreds of layers of air pockets.

No Returns Policy

Bought a bluetooth speaker and based on experience knew there could be slight faults and/or incidental damage but was willing to take the risk. What was delivered was an item unfit for purpose as the usb charging point does not work. This wasn't apparent from either the product photos and viewing the product in person. They point blankly refuse to accept the return despite having a returns policy on their website. The product is no more than a block of useless plastic and the immorality of the company makes them no better than thieves. BE WARNED

Dangerous & hazardous goods sent through post.

Appalling customer service ! They sent me a shattered ornamental crystal box, there were shards of crystal everywhere, one got lodged in my thumb, good job it wasn’t my eye, or that of a child ! When I contacted them they asked for photos which I supplied, since then I have heard nothing despite contacting them once again. I understand that some items have parts missing or don’t work, but you can usually get parts & have them fixed. A totally shattered crystal ornament is irreparable & it is extremely dangerous to send out to a customer. I’m absolutely disgusted !
