They made a stressful event so much worse
Moved on 22nd April. Nathan did not organise any kind of site check. I sent a list of everything I was taking and I included measurements although they weren’t asked for. I had approx 6 more than the 30 boxes I had said, but most of my boxes were half the size of the ones sent by my husbands firm. On that basis, I was well within that remit too. Long story short, one van was sent, which wasn’t big enough to take all my things and Nathan wanted to charge me £350 for the van to come back and collect the rest. Fortunately, my husband was there and managed to hire a van locally to take the rest of my things.
Also, I had asked for 4 wardrobe boxes which the guys weren’t made aware of and they hadn’t been told they were to dismantle a bed and reassemble it so didn’t have the tools and had to go and buy some!
After complaining later, Nathan refunded the cost of the van and fuel “as a good will gesture”!
Moving is stressful enough but this firm made it so much worse. If this was a review about the two guys who actually did the donkey work, it would have 5 stars. They were lovely and a bit embarrassed. They were surprised themselves that only one van was sent. They said they hardly ever do one van moves.
I am told Nathan’s Dad is a Solicitor. Thought it worth mentioning, in case you are also let down by him and want to complain.
Hi Nathan - apologies for the delay in review - this was due to a bereavement. The email to which you refer outlines the extra items
"I forgot to mention a carpet cleaner (like an upright hoover), a microwave - thought husband was taking it, and a boxed Christmas tree - small - about 4ft I think)"
These items would not have warranted needing another van and I could have left them with a neighbour. When mentioning the extra charge, I had not imagined for a second these items would warrant another van at a cost of £350.
No explanation is given for the wardrobe fiasco or the bed. I am not giving you a bad review because you are a small business. I am giving you a bad review because I got bad service.
Your staff, however, are a credit to you.
