I ordered a book, it never arrived and they said they'd refund me but they never have. Very poor

Fantastic retailer, much cheaper than most others, especially with the delivery and 5+ books discounts. Decent range of books, especially with a lot of obscure or less popular titles. Quick dispatch. Only annoying thing is how a couple books were shoved into the package so tightly that their corners were slightly dented, but that's just a minor worry when factoring how everything else made shopping with them a good experience. I now use them as a main retailer when buying books and have recommended them to others.

Please allow a buyer to have a purchase delivered to a different address!
I’ve twice just attempted to do this to discover the present is on its way to me!

Highly recommend this company . Bought a set of books and received one of the copies twice . E mailed them and they replied immediately and sent a fresh set of books out . Great customer service .Thankyou

Smeikal can be a little bit haphazard with packaging and shipping choices. Sometimes the packaging is more secure than others. Sometimes they don't allow Safe place delivery. I think they are still working out some kinks.

They are still a great site for buying books. Everything is new condition and they offer huge discounts when you buy multiple books. They even offer you freebies sometimes. I have done several orders and I am really pleased with what I got.

If you do need to email them you actually get a swift answer from a real human being who wants to help you out. That is getting very rare. If you love books you should add this site to your regular places to shop.

This must be best book selling site ever.Still can't believe my luck how good value ,quick delivery and best service I have received.I am collecting chiltern classics books beatifuly decorated ans bought each from Selfridges for 20.pounds each .I have bought 3 for 60 pounds and decided to add to collection, and unbelievable managed to buy 14 books from.the same series for 64 pounds.Will sad I went to self ridges fist .I thought this is too good to be true but took the risk and over the moon now

I had a positive experience with customer service and faced no problems in receiving a refund when an error occurred with my order. I believe that the company has definitely improved its services since my previous disappointment.

I just came on-line to order Santa Montefiores next book 'Secrets of the Starlit Sea', when I noticed the current book that I am reading 'Shadows in the Moonlight'. This company was giving the indication that the RRP for this book was £20.00 but they are selling it for £12.00. When infact the price printedon the back of my book is £9.99UK US $17.99.
SO BEWARD THIS COMPANY OVER CHARGES.

I ordered books on 8th September and they have still not arrived. I have contacted Smeikal and there reply indicated where the books would be delivered but not when. I contacted Yodel and received the same response. So that's 15 days and I am no further. I know things can go wrong but some communication would help with the frustration.

Quick delivery. Well packaged. Lovely puzzle book. Can't wait to try it out. Great price. Very pleased.

I ordered three special edition hardbacks and they were much cheaper than anywhere else online.
They came quickly, unfortunately had a couple of marks on the spines.
I contacted them and they were very apologetic and issued an immediate partial refund.

I placed an order for a book and within the hour requested a refund as realised my daughter already had this edition. I later sent another email asking a refund, so had sent 2 in total. The next day I received a dispatched email! I emailed them again saying I will be returning it as I don’t need it and I had previously contacted them twice to say so. 2 days later and still no response. I’ve read up their shipping and returns policy and apparently I have to pay for returning it and I’m a bit worried about getting my refund promptly after reading other reviews. I’ve not received the book as yet but I’ll update the outcome. I found they sell books on eBay and have even emailed with my order details on there but still no response! Not recommended and considering eBay state they usually reply within 24 hrs I can confirm they don’t!

Books were really good value. I only found this site because I was searching for a particular series of books. There was a minor problem with the delivery but customer service was excellent. Will definitely use again.

Slightly limited range of books but much cheaper than competitors.

Had one issue with my second order: hadn’t arrived by final ‘expect order by’ date, and tracking indicated it hadn’t been delivered to courier at all. Emailed and they swiftly followed up and were apologetic. Most impressive thing was they delivered my books with *same-day* delivery. Never experienced this before, remarkable.

Very happy customer and I always check smeikal now before ordering books elsewhere.

I felt compelled to leave a review as I took a risk judging by the comments on here when ordering a vinyl from this company. Personally, I had absolutely no issues at all. Arrived promptly, perfect condition, excellent price and updated along the way. Very happy and wanted to get their score back up as I had a hassle-free experience. Thanks!

Beware of this online store i think it is a scam i arranged for delivery for my order and they charged me before i had time to pay for delivery when i went to proceed to make payment with my order

I have waited months to write a review in the hope my book would arrive. I placed an order in the summer and received an empty sealed package- no book. I contacted the shop who were very apologetic and said they would post it out the next day. I have been told that three times now. Still no book. The owner is very pleasant with emails but I am wondering if they ever had the book I asked for? Disappointed
