They wouldn't even reply to the Better Business Bureau!

I booked a mover over a few states and not only did the "guaranteed estimate" get raised with no warning, but by the time the furniture arrived 2 weeks later--so much of it was damaged and unusable. I six hour drive took 2 weeks! I couldn't get the company to even send the insurance claim information. They completely ghosted me. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and they would not even reply to a request from them. No wonder they are not certified. BUYER BEWARE!! Please notice they don't "approve" negative reviews...only positive. That is a warning sign I missed.

Moving Nightmare

To Anyone Considering Hiring a Moving Company:

If you’re planning a relocation and thinking about hiring professional movers, I urge you—based on personal experience—to avoid using a broker and never hire a moving company that doesn’t own its own trucks or employ its own drivers. These details matter more than you might think, and I hope this message spares someone from going through what we did.

Here is our story.

We hired Sobe Relocation, a broker based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At first, they were friendly, responsive, and offered a quote to move us from Indiana to Colorado that seemed like a great deal—too good to be true, as we would later learn.

Sobe Relocation subcontracted the move to Best Moving Service, a company supposedly based in Denver, Colorado. In hindsight, this should’ve raised immediate concerns. The company has no website, no verifiable presence online, and uses a generic Gmail address. It is nearly impossible to find legitimate information about them, which should’ve been a major red flag.

On moving day, the crew spent hours at our Indiana home wrapping our belongings carefully—including two large patio sets and a 1,500-pound gun safe. We were offered one month of free storage, which we initially appreciated. When we needed to extend for an additional two weeks, we were charged for a full extra month with no option for prorating—even though we didn’t use the full 30 days.

Scheduling delivery became another challenge. They could not provide a specific delivery date and instead gave us a vague 14-day delivery window.

When the delivery day finally arrived, things took a dramatic turn. That morning, I received a call—not from the moving company, but from an independent semi-truck driver who informed me that he couldn’t deliver our belongings to our mountain home. He claimed the 18-wheeler couldn’t navigate our road and demanded an additional $600 “transportation fee” to complete the delivery using a smaller trailer. If we didn’t pay, they would hold our items.

We felt we had no choice but to pay the fee.

Our belongings were then transferred from the semi into a box trailer—completely unwrapped—and transported to our home. When the trailer doors opened, what we saw was shocking. Nearly everything was damaged. Our patio furniture was in a tangled, dented heap. The gun safe had been flipped multiple times, destroying the interior shelving. Glass and fragile items were shattered. It was heartbreaking.

When we called the moving company, they told us we had to file a damage claim through a third-party claims company. After spending many hours taking photographs, weighing items, filling out paperwork, and submitting documentation, we waited nearly two months—only to be offered $90 in compensation. According to the contract’s fine print, they would reimburse $0.60 per pound of damaged goods. Somehow, they calculated our total damages (including a 1,500-pound gun safe) to be worth about 150 pounds.

We declined the insulting offer. The claims company said there was nothing else they could do.

When I attempted to follow up directly with the moving company, I was met with extremely unprofessional behavior. Calls were ignored, and in multiple instances, I was hung up on. This included both Sobe Relocation and Best Moving Service.

In short, this experience has been devastating, stressful, and completely avoidable. We will never use a broker again and will never trust a company that does not operate its own fleet and employees.

I share our story in hopes of protecting others from the same experience. Please do your research, ask tough questions, and make sure you are dealing directly with a reputable, licensed, and accountable moving company.

Still have not heard back!!!!! Won’t return emails or calls

Still have not heard back from this company about claims “filed” in November…. Spent months on the phone with Victoria and now she won’t even return a phone call or email. Stolen items such as jewelry, a coffee table top, and miscellaneous pieces have never come to light. Please RUN AWAY from this company…. Other companies they hired for the jobs damaged our house and never returned the calls or emails either. No compensation and ZERO communication at this point…. Nothing was done for us.

Dont believe the fake reviews

Dont believe the fake reviews on the Sobe web page. Dont believe the false promises they will give you. Our experience with Sobe Relocation was a massive headache. They are a broker. They had D & H Moving Express from St Louis do our move from Wisconsin to Mississippi and we paid extra for a direct move. They brought our things a day late and other peoples things were on the truck. They direct move we paid extra for never happened. As they unloaded our furniture my husband noticed not just scratches but gouges on most of our wood furniture. Remember….Sobe sent these jokers from D and H Express!!! My husbands television was completely destroyed. My brand new $500 cookware set and brand new printer were not on the truck. David-owner of D & H told us that they had problems with their movers stealing things!! Almost FOUR MONTHS LATER they have yet to compensate us for anything. Do yourself a favor and avoid Sobe Relocation and ANY BROKERS. You just never know what kind of ass-clowns are going to show up!! Find a good family owned moving company. I wish I would have listened to all of the bad reviews on Yelp and the BBB…..

TDLR

TDLR: Broker company with fake reviews.
I initially received a very low estimate from this moving company—almost 40% less than what other movers had quoted. However, three days before the scheduled move, I got a call asking for an exact inventory of the items I planned to move. Despite not adding many items, they significantly increased the price.

I had also requested an ETA well in advance, but they only provided one the day before the move. I had to constantly follow up to get any sort of confirmation, which was frustrating.

Their policy states that the first 100 feet of moving is included, but beyond that, they charge $1 per additional foot. Initially, I was told this applied to the distance between the elevator and the apartment at both the current and new locations. However, when I tried to confirm this a day prior, I was told the charge would only apply at one location.

This inconsistency raised doubts, so I did some deeper research into the company. I discovered they don’t own their own trucks and simply act as brokers. This means the final pricing would ultimately be determined by the trucking company they contract, not the initial estimate I received.

Additionally, the initial payment was made via Zelle instead of a proper payment gateway—a red flag I missed at the time. To make matters worse, they expected the final payment in cash, which only added to my concerns about transparency.

When I began reviewing the company more thoroughly, I noticed that many of their 5-star reviews seemed suspiciously fake. The wording felt generic, overly positive, and lacked the detail you’d expect from real customers. This only reinforced my decision to cancel the move with them.

In the end, I trusted my instincts and decided not to proceed with this company due to their lack of clarity on pricing, unreliable communication, and questionable reviews. Instead, I found a legitimate moving company that owned their trucks and provided a far better experience.

My advice: Always choose a moving company that owns its trucks and avoid brokers like this one. Transparency, consistency, and genuine reviews are key when it comes to trusting movers with your belongings.

Worst moving company EVER

Worst moving company EVER! They will original quote you a price just to going your business. They will call you several times before the move to make you feel confident about the move. However, when they are sitting in your living room, truck outside they double the price. Then they blaming you saying that I should've asked more questions. They are frauds and I would not recommend. I dont wish this on anyone.

I used Sobe in September

I used Sobe in September. They didn't tell me they was a broker. I moved fr St Louis to Buffalo. There was no communication about when I was getting my stuff. I was told different stories from Sober and D&H. So I went back to St Louis and got my stuff in October. And still got the run around. After getting the police involved I finally got my stuff. But there were items missing. Have not heard from either company about my missing items

STAY AWAY!!!

This company did not represent itself as a broker. I was told that I would work with one person until move was done. The initial estimate was almost half what they tried to charge me once the QA person did a virtual scan of my items. which they did not tell me this was going to happen. They did not keep me informed of when movers were coming. They gave me an estimate day and the movers missed the date, they came late at night, was rude to my girlfriend, they left and the owner of the actual moving company ask if my girlfriend would leave the apartment. They finally sent someone knew after they assured me that they was going to fire that guy. when they delivered that guy was there. At this time, I just wanted my stuff. They tried charge me more again. They damage some of my items and I am missing items. I filed a claim 2 weeks ago and still have not heard anything. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Review:

Review:

Sobe Relocation is full of hidden fees. They lure you in with a low estimate, but once you sign the contract, they find ways to charge more at every step. The initial price means nothing—they’ll add unexpected costs during the move and delivery.

If you value transparency and honesty, avoid this company!

Unreliable And Sketchy Company

This was my first time using a moving company and I did not know what to expect, but I could not have imagined just how awful and stressful this whole process would be.

This is technically my second review, after I left a review detailing how bad of an experience I had before they had even picked up my stuff. Which was taken down in exchange for the movers actually showing up on the date that I had tried to book them for. To no one's surprise, the experience never got better after that.

To begin with and recap the original review, I had called and explicitly stated multiple times that I wanted to book this company with a move out date of October 30th and a move in date of November 1st. While on the phone with Alexandra I was offered a competitive price and the rapport was excellent enough for me to feel semi confident about booking the company. I signed the documents while talking on the phone with her and missed that she had put my move out date as the 31st-1st. I messaged her after this mentioning the 30th date in text, and it still was not caught that the date was wrong until I got a call from the dispatch driver two days before I was supposed to move. I also found out on this call that I had not been booked a direct move like I had been led to believe.

I had a hard deadline of being 12 hours away on the 1st of November, and it was only after I left the aforementioned review that the movers did indeed show up on the 30th of October. However, this was after the agents lied to me and originally said they would be there by 1pm. And then called me back to say it would be 5-7pm but likely earlier than that as that time was just to make sure they weren't late. The first mover showed up at 8pm, the second at 8:30pm.

I also now know why there's reviews talking about avoiding moving companies that use third party movers. The entire process of dealing with the actual movers felt like one constant scam and was extremely unprofessional. I paid the dispatch agent by Zelle because he originally sent me a PayPal link that was asking for a “donation”. I could hear one of the movers talking on his phone while moving my stuff and got to hear him tell his friend about how he only took the job because he had a negative balance in his bank account and desperately needed the money. I cannot express how unnerving letting these people take my stuff was, but it was also 8:45pm and I needed to get started on my 12 hour drive and needed to get the move out over with.

I was explicitly told this would be a full service move, and that the movers would take apart my furniture for me. I packed my own boxes, but none of my furniture was taken apart or wrapped or protected in any way. I am currently waiting to see how much damage was done to my stuff in transit and highly suspect I will need to update this to include broken and missing items.

After my stuff was packed I had to wait with the movers, who had no idea where they were supposed to be going with my items, and repeatedly asked me for the address. After they did get the location from dispatch they asked me to “follow behind the moving truck in my car”. I again cannot express enough how much these people felt like a scam, but asking a single woman to follow behind two men at 9:45pm to an undisclosed location really did not make me feel any better about the experience.

After finally getting through the move out, it has now been 3 weeks since I was originally expecting to get my items. And two weeks since the date I was given once they told me I hadn't paid for a direct move. This includes one week of being told they just couldn't get ahold of the driver (again, after the very sketchy move out). They also lied to me again to tell me the movers would “definitely” be here this week, saying it would be Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. There has been a repeated pattern of the agent lying to me, seemingly to placate me and/or buy the company time to keep delaying my dates.

I should be getting my things next week, but I still don't truly have much faith in that happening. I also am expecting damage and missing items just based on how badly everything else has been going. I'll be reporting the company to the BBB, and have already told many people to avoid this company at all costs.

Truly, this was such a horrendous and stressful experience and I hope to never have to go through this again. It would be easier to do the move by yourself than book with this company.

These 5 stars reviews are definitely…

These 5 stars reviews are definitely fake. This company is scamming with all hidden fees. I agreed to pay $1,500 for one bedroom moving. I put down $500 deposit and the they have different guys picked my stuff up on Oct 31after they loaded my stuff in the truck they said I have too much stuff and going to charge me another $500 with $500 already discount. I had to pay them total of $2,000 so I paid another $1,000 with Zelle No credit card. They didn’t tell me when my stuff will be delivered. Today I received a call from a different guy and told me he’s charging me another $75 on top of $2,000 for elevator fee. Just stay away from this company. They should have been straight forward about everything.
