Skeptical about Cold Calling?
Skeptical about cold calling? Like most people, I am too. But when I received a knock at the door a few weeks ago from a company selling solar, I thought, “Why not let them come out and give me a free, no-obligation quote?”
Solar was something I’d been considering for some time. I’d done my research, but felt priced out by reputable installers such as my energy provider, so I thought I’d give a local business the chance to pitch. It could be the best decision I’ve ever made.
From the first meeting to handover, I couldn’t have wished for a better service. Two members of the Solar Forever team visited my house to carry out a survey and put together a no-obligation quote. It was a thorough, 14-page proposal covering everything from the cost and method of installation to product descriptions and warranties. Most importantly, it set out the expected energy production, consumption and savings over the life of the products. Needless to say, it was comprehensive and gave me the confidence that I was making the right decision.
As with any new company, trust can be hard to establish. However, the constant communication, along with a few background checks I carried out to verify the accreditations published on their website, gave me confidence that everything was legitimate.
On installation day, the team arrived at 9am, and the equipment arrived at the same time. The team got straight to work. The electricians and installers couldn’t have been more helpful: they talked me through the plan, answered my questions and checked in throughout the day to update me on progress.
Despite the ongoing storm and torrential downpour in the early afternoon, the team finished by 4pm, with the system fully operational and the scaffolding down. Bird protection was also installed, and I was given a walkthrough of the supporting app before the team left.
All the rubbish was collected early the following week, and I’ve since had a follow-up phone call from the team to make sure everything had been working correctly over the weekend. The only thing I’m still waiting for is the handover pack, including the user guides and warranty certificates, which I was advised would arrive within 14 days of installation.
Given my apprehension about getting solar installed, I felt it was important to provide some backstory and context to my experience with Solar Forever. I know reading something like this would have put my mind at ease as a potential customer.
I can honestly say there’s nothing about my experience I would change. I’d recommend both solar and SolarForever to anyone who asked. I’d give this company six stars if I could!
For context, I had 16 panels and two batteries installed. As of 13:32 on the day I’m posting this review (27/10/2026), my system has generated 18.3 kWh of power. My home typically consumes 21–25 kWh a day, including when I’m working from home.
