I had a really bad experience with a…
I had a really bad experience with a tutor on Spires. I put a request out and got contacted by a tutor called Samuel who said he could help me. We had an initial call and I explained my problem and sent him all the documentation. We agreed to speak the next day for the actual tutoring session that I needed urgent help with for my MBA.
He cancelled the next day and suggested the day after so I agreed and made arrangements to be available.
Then he cancelled the next day and was totally unresponsive to me about booking a follow up. I have since tried to contact him several times over the course of a week, to no response. And I just see he has cancelled MY request with the reason ‘unresponsive’ - yes the tutor was unresponsive, this certainly wasn’t me.
I couldn’t find a place to complain on Spires about this guy, so I am leaving this review here. Do not try and rely on Samuel, econometrics professor on Spires. He won’t help you and he’ll let you down when you need help.

That said, we recognise that from your perspective this felt like a lack of responsiveness, and we regret that this left you without the support you were expecting. We are also sorry that you were not aware of how to contact our support team at the time. Students can reach us directly via the blue support button on the platform, and had we been alerted earlier, we would have acted quickly to help secure alternative support given your deadline.
Your feedback has been taken seriously and reviewed internally. While we understand this experience was disappointing, we do appreciate your acknowledging that it may not reflect the wider platform. Jamie was a total Godsend
Jamie was a total Godsend. If it wasn't for him, my daughter wouldn't have got an A* for her A Level in Computer Science. She thoroughly enjoyed all his lessons - he clearly knows his stuff and he is able to explain even the most complicated elements of the course. Enjoy using the platform. It is very intuitive and great to be able to upload and annotate documents with tutees. It's also fab from a safe guarding point of view knowing I don't need to worry about sharing personal details, and that everything is recorded.
