I used Statescard for a while, but it now seems to have closed its business

I used States Card for a while without any problems. Now my card is unusable and I can get no reply from support at statescard.com having sent them several emails since 3 April 2026. Previously I communicated with support at statescard.com and received quick replies.

It's a shame. I found their card to be very useful if you needed a card with a US billing address.

It seems to me that Statescard has now gone out of business.

and to add to my previous comments, they first say they will refund, and then they trick you to say you like to cancel and take all your money. If you don't cancel, they will just keep replying how they are waiting for card issuer to reactivate or refund your money. please spread the word so your friends and family doesn't get scammed.

Statescard!!!

I have been waiting for them to get their credit card company issues resolved for so long. Cannot find a replacement without having to buy hulu, peacock hbo etc.
Statescard, you could use it on any streaming service ya didn't have to choose simply those options.
Now I can't buy a movie on Fandango because I don't have a Us credit card!! I have scoured the internet and streaming services and no luck. Fandango was my only option but without Statescard I'm out of luck!!
Frustrating!!!

I have never had a problem with them!!
To all the reviewers on this site that still have funds in their account, email them and get a refund. That's what I did. I've seen a few others on this site that have done the same.

Muy mejorable

2023, noviembre. Me doy de alta. En enero ya anunciaron que estaban de mantenimiento y anunciaron el primer cambio de proveedor, que hicieron despues de estar 4 meses sin servicio. Poco despues, hicieron el segundo. En octubre de 2024 hicieron el tercero, que duró un mes. A primeros de diciembre de 2024 dejó de funcionar, y sin mas explicaciones. Por mail simplemente te dicen que no saben cuando se arreglará. Por lo menos a mi me han respondido y me han abonado el dinero que tenia bloqueado en la tarjeta.

do not trust them with your money!!

I had money left on the card, which I can no longer use because they claimed their card issuer had issues and deleted all cards and balances. They promised to refund my money, but I never heard back from them. My advice: STAY AWAY! This is not a trustworthy company.

Very good till it stopped working

Very good till it stopped working. Cust.service responded promptly to my request for a refund of the balance on the old discontinued card. Hope they really do going to transition to new cards soon.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt

They haven't charged my account the last few months while they've been down, so that speaks well of them. And I too have found their support quite responsive (same-day replies, usually within a few hours) the few times I've emailed them. I haven't requested a refund yet, but they informed me (unprompted) that I could have one if I didn't want to wait till their service is restored.

It's true they could be more transparent. E.g., they should have informed all their customers as soon as this happened, and I would certainly appreciate more of an explanation than "maintenance" or vague problems with the "card issuer," as well as an expected timeframe for restoration (although maybe they really do have no idea).

But the fact is, they're a grey-market service, and we need to consider that when evaluating them. This means that a certain amount of unreliability and risk is inherent to it, and also that they can't be *completely* transparent. And until November, I found it worked for everything they said it would. So I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt and just hoping it will come back.

To all the reviews that claim that support does not answer, you are completely wrong. Perhaps try checking your Spam folders people. I was issued a refund as soon as I asked for one.
Things happen with these types of services, it is just life, people shouldn't be so stupid to think otherwise. Support are amazing here and doing their best to work this out for everyone affected. Give your heads a wobble and stop talking crap.

The card stopped working in Nov 2024…

The card stopped working in Nov 2024 and product support repeatedly and timely advised that provider had issues through to Feb 2025. In February I had my balance returned and the refund got to me smoothly ; I got back the funds a couple of days after the request in February. My account is now closed. I would be willing and happy to reopen as soon I get a confirmation the product is back on the line, since before Nov 24 it worked perfectly and allowed me to subscribe and purchase in the US.
Hence I am giving a 3 star as an average between the 5 when it worked and a 1 now.

Criminals

Criminals! They have stolen the balance of my funds with my existing card no longer working AND, they required me to upload government issued ID in order to get a new card but it's clear now that NO SUCH CARD WILL EVER BE ISSUED! Absolutely scamming criminals. Do not give a cent to them and do not give them any of your personal information!

They steal your money

They steal your money. Don’t do it. Total ripoff. Card expires after 3mth they tell you to transfer to new card but the process is impossible to complete. Poof money gone. They even lock your account.

A scam and theft

Like other recent reviews the card has stopped working for me - which since you can’t withdraw the money means they’ve basically stolen the cash I added. Even if they do make it work again at some point they’re taking a monthly fee in the meantime for a non-functioning card. So again, basically theft.

If they fix it I’ll update this but for reference when it was working it did what it needed to for me. Sometimes it felt a bit of a rip off with the fees and I’m pretty sure they used issuing new cards as an excuse to charge extra sometimes, but there aren’t too many alternative services that do what this did (back when it worked).

Vor gut einem Jahr habe ich diesen Anbieter das erste Mal genutzt. Das funktionierte einwandfrei. Als ich jetzt erneut die Karte nutzen wollte um espn+ zu abonnieren kam immer eine Fehlermeldung das ich nicht genug Geld auf der Karte habe. Es sind 80 Dollar auf dieser Karte! Ich kann das Geld auf keine Weise ausgeben und nach Recherche warum, bin ich unter anderem auf die Bewertungen auf TrustPilot gestoßen, die von genau dem gleich Problemen handeln. Das grenzt an Betrug, vor allem weil man über diesen Anbieter immernoch fleißig Accounts eröffnen, Geld aufladen und Gebühren zahlen kann!

Vorsicht also, Finger weg!

Ich versuche jetzt mein Geld wiederzubekommen. Wer weiß ob das klappt.

I used this provider for the first time just over a year ago. That worked perfectly. When I tried to use the card again to subscribe to espn+, I got an error message saying that I didn't have enough money on the card. There is 80 dollars on this card! I can't spend the money in any way and after researching why, I came across the reviews on TrustPilot, among others, which deal with exactly the same problems. This borders on fraud, especially because you can still open accounts, top up money and pay fees through this provider!

So be careful, HANDS OFF!

I am now trying to get my money back. Who knows if that will work.

Fraud!

Fraud!! Card not useable since mid of December. You can also not load money anymore. Contacted customer support. They answered that they will investigate… Of course when you cancel the loaded money is lost!!

Anyway, this stinks, in order to get hulu/Peacock I buy gift cards. Problem solved.

Final thought: This scam is worse than the nigerian prince selling bedazzled sandpaper dildos...

Not perfect, but a good solution

(TLDR at the end of the review)

It works as well as I would expect. This is clearly a service for people who aren't able to access a US debit card through normal means.
For me, I use them to pay for Hulu and HBOMax, as I don't live in the US. And since this service is a quick way of getting access to something that most likely we shouldn't be able to get, it is not perfect.

The Customer Support:
I have had rather speedy responses form their support (usually less than 24 hours after sending an email).
I am currently having issues with the card, but this seems to be affecting everyone using their service currently. waiting for that to hopefully get resolved sometime soon. I might come back and update this review depending on how it goes. But for now I still have faith in their service. They have also suspended our ability to top the cards up at the moment, which I think is a good thing. Stops people from topping up and then complaining they don't have access to their funds.

The Price :
Yes, there is an initial 16.99 activation fee, a processing fee of 2.43 and then finally a monthly fee of 3.95.
This can seem a little steep to some, however I believe that this is reasonable considering that they do make it very easy to gain access to a US debit card, and their website isn't packed full of uselessness. Just a simple straight forward UI.

TLDR :
Not the most consistent service in the world and does come with some fees that one should keep in mind, but it does its job and makes getting a US debit card rather painless compared to others.

Wanted to fill up for 25$, they took extra charge for 16$ once, and you cant use your card for a month
Also they would charge extra 4$ for nothing after few days(they said after a month, but they charged after few days).
So after a month when you could use it already they would charge fees again, and you will have no money... What a service

Shady tactic's, unclear purchasing system

Be careful when using this service as they have not so great customer service, and shady ways to charge you more money.

Also note that you pay for the card "Activation fee" along with a monthly fee.

Should you want to cancel your monthly fee, you will lose all money in your account, so you can't cancel in a way that stops the next debit, you'll have to spend your money now or wait closer to the next renewal.

I was told to deposit $50 usd I will be charged the following

Card Load $50 (This is how much I wanted to load)
Processing fee $ 4.05
Card Activation Fee $16.99
Payment $71.04

Now I needed exactly $50 to spend and they say no transaction fees are charged.

Then after going through this and getting $50 balance, I procced to make a payment of $50 which I have in my balance and it gets approved.

But the transaction does not show up on my Statescard account. So the next day I get my $50 balance deducted for the Monthly fee for $3.95, instead of paying for it with the first deposit...

So now my payment I made will probably bounce of some sorts and get canceled and have to be re done.

Here's what I need to pay get my balance back to $50 or more

Load Card $10 - This is the minimum
Processing fee $1.15.

Now I really don't like how this is done an it makes me worry what else they try. I'm not disputing the monthly fee I just think its stupid to charge for card activation but not the monthly fee, also no where did it state that it will be debited from my balance.

Very Meh experience with this company.
