A little disappointed

I booked for 13 people on Tuesday, 3rd March, my birthday. When arriving at The Wilbury Stonehouse Carvery in Letchworth, the lady at the front of house told me that my booking had not been logged on to the computer. I had 'phoned the day before and spoke to a young lady, who, after a short conversation passed me onto a gentleman who said that he could accommodate that amount of people, but not all on the same table. Fine as we were all together in a raised area, one of my favourite seating areas. The second issue was with the portion size of the meat, i.e. half a very thin slice of each of the three selections (even my friend who chose two of the meats had half a slice and wafer thin)! Other than that the food was fresh and hot. The staff were very friendly.

Over all poor service

Ordered at the table went to get our Vegetarian carvery and there was a queue of very unhappy people already waiting?
Nobody at the carvery NO MEATS which as veggies wasnt an issue a problem with the meast temerature anyways, we still waited 5/10 minutes while the people in front went to the bar no staff banging on the kitchen doors just to get someone to come out and explain what was happening or not as was the case, meat eaters all had refunds we had to serve ourselves.

On the plus side the food it self was very nice

Still hadnt had our drinks delivered when meals almost finished so get one of the staff to chase up our drinkers order which was quick and efficient AFTER we had to chase them up

Over all very poor for our first experience under newer ownership wont be rushing back

Went to the Barley Mow in Hayling…

Went to the Barley Mow in Hayling Island to meet up with a friend. Delighted to find 3 hand pumps on bar, disappointed to find no beer on them.
No bitters at all, when I asked what bottled bitters they had, all I was offered was Newcastle Brown! Not only is that not a bitter, it is also not 1950.
Food looked good, and taste was ok, but veg was overcooked and it was all luke warm. Won't be rushing back there in a hurry.

Not a pizza place

From time to time we go to the Shoreham branch in West Sussex, As I am vegetarian and they have not enough choice I end up with Supreme Veggie pizza however you cannot call it Veggie as it has one handful of tiny slices mushroom and 3 slices of red pepper, Each time I mention it the waitress says: I will pass it and again everything is the same.

My daughter and I bought two carvery’s…

My daughter and I bought two carvery’s and a desert with drinks and my daughter fell asleep literally within a few minutes I asked the waitress for a container for the food which she refused so blatantly and her attitude was really not nice and quite rude she offered tin foil instead which wasn’t appropriate as there was gravy on the plate and the food that was served wasn’t even warm enough to eat really dissatisfied with this service and will not be returning

Visited with my son on a Tuesday…

Visited with my son on a Tuesday evening. Menu advertised 50% off pizzas on a Tuesday. I ordered 2 pizzas thinking the discount was automatic. Advertised on the menu in big bold letters 50% of on Tuesdays.........i flashed my debit card on the card machine. Only to realise afterwards i had been charged full price, no 50% discount. I asked the barman, and he said the discount was only available through the app...... the menu is misleading, small print says, "available through the app", doesnt say only available through the app, plus who reads small print on a menu??? I asked for them to honour the deal, i was told they couldnt. Very, very misleading...... wont be going back!!! Place was dead anyway, i wonder why???

Rude Staff Bad Customer Service

I was excited to use the Too Good To Go app to rescue a surprise bag from Stonehouse Carvery, supporting the effort to reduce food waste. The food itself (once I eventually received it) was perfectly fine and a good value.
However, my experience was significantly impacted by the attitude of the staff during pickup. When I arrived at the designated time, I was told I needed to wait because "full-paying customers are our priority." I understand that in-house diners are important to the business, but as a customer who has pre-paid for an order through the app, I expected a basic level of service and respect, not to be treated as a second-class citizen or a lesser priority.
The wait time was a bit frustrating, but the real issue was the dismissive way the staff communicated this. A more professional approach would have been appreciated. The concept of TGTG is brilliant, but the service at this location needs improvement in how they handle these collections. Hopefully, management can better train their staff to ensure all customers, regardless of how they are paying, feel welcomed and valued. To top it off I sat down with my son to wait as told, three others came in and staff served them before us. I had told me son we would come here for food one Sunday not using 2G2G app, but unfortunately that won’t be happening now. Norwich.

Worse Carvery ever

My family and I visited the Lord Louis in Plymouth a place I will never return. After we paid for our meal you pay before you get your meal if you had to pay after you wouldn't pay.
So after paying we were advised that the next batch of meat would be a 40 minute wait and blamed it on being busy if you doubled the amount of people that were in the pub you wouldn't fill a mini bus. The guy explained that they can't take the meat out early but that was not the point we should have been advised that due to a lack of planning there would be a delay before we paid.
So we decided to wait in how we wish we didn't the freshly cooked meat arrived and looked very nice, the turkey was fine and moist however the beef was very fatty and not to a standard of other carvery restaurants.
The vegetables were at a completely different level as they had been left there under the heat lamp which must have been low as the food was luke warm and dried up in fact I would have been ashamed to serve food in that state. The gravy was so runny I think it was a stock cube and warm water.
I don't normally complain about staff as I know they are paid a pitence but on this occasion I have never come across a set of staff who showed no interest in the situation which to me must mean that this was a normal experience.
Now I have made a formal complaint through the company complaint system and I will be very interested in the response.
All in all I think we will have to put it down to one of those days and move on but my advice is just avoid the place and spend your well earned money elsewhere.

We were staying locally visiting…

We were staying locally visiting family,and this looked good value for us all with a discount voucher. However the seats were disgusting, torn and stuck together with brown tape. We couldn't believe what we saw but stayed as they were hungry! How unhygienic and snagged our clothes!! The seating area was the same with very worn out chairs. What's happening to this place. The food (and staff friendly)was fine but definitely ,won't be back.

went to the bells of mary in prestatyn…

went to the bells of mary in prestatyn for carvery.. carvery was fresh with lots of choice of fresh vegetables and meats..
staff was lovely especially craig who was very informative about the beautuful area..will be goung back on Friday for breakfast.
dogs are allowed inside which was a big plus..

Very poor experiance.

I went to the stonehouse pub in ninfield East Sussex for dinner,
The place is old and dirty, the furniture should be burned!! The seat cover are split on many a chair, the food was tasteless, over cooked, dry and unappetising. To top it all I had a vanilla ice cream which came out of the machine yellow, when I asked has this gone off I was told it is what it is.
Overall a very bad experiance.

Don't waste time

Don't waste time, carvery is no good.. the app don't work to claim rewards.
I'm sticking to Toby evening if it is a bigger drive away.

If i could give -5 i would

If i could give -5 i would, absolute joke of a carvery, no food and if you ask you get moaned at like its your fault for suggesting food is available in a carvery 🙄 no customer service, not a friendly atmosphere, god knows how they cope when they are busy, its hardly hard to keep on top of a few items to make sure that food is there for customers. Also would question the hygiene as i witnessed the carvery server dragging the bin, putting items in it with her bare hands and then serving customers plates. Avoid until they can hire friendly staff that actually know what they are doing👌🏻
