What They Got Right
Wildlife experiences exceeded expectations, with incredible close encounters on land and via zodiac. Cabins were thoughtfully designed with excellent storage, making them comfortable and practical. The hospitality team stood out as warm, attentive, and engaging. Food was consistently good, but not memorable. Expedition gear—especially jackets and day bags—was well designed, and wildlife-focused speakers added valuable context.

Where It Fell Short
Organization and communication were inconsistent from the beginning, with issues around bookings, travel documents, and unclear pre-cruise processes. Cleanliness of the cabins upon arrival fell below expectations, and some promised amenities (like correct gear sizing) weren’t delivered. Onboard logistics—such as laundry and activity coordination—felt disorganized, and staff often couldn’t clearly explain services or inclusions.

Another drawback was crew professionalism. There were instances of poor communication, condescension, and lack of engagement, along with operational disorganization during activities and briefings. Some staff provided inaccurate information or behaved inappropriately, which detracted from the experience.

Final Thoughts
The destinations and wildlife made for an unforgettable adventure. However, while the expedition side is strong, the overall experience falls short of true luxury due to gaps in service, organization, and professionalism.

I am willing to provide more details as this is my shortened version. However, the form limits my ability to do so.

This was a perfect Antarctic journey. The entire crew of SH Vega provided my wife and me with an exceptional travel experience. From the expert coordination of the expedition team and the meticulous housekeeping to the exquisite onboard dining and the dedication of every crew member—including the seamless ground handling—we received top-tier service in every aspect.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff. A perfect journey requires the collective effort of everyone involved, and this team truly achieved it.

If I may offer one small suggestion: on the cabin TV information system, in addition to introducing the Captain, senior officers, and expedition team, it would be wonderful to include profiles of the restaurant service staff. We interact with these hard-working individuals every day, but sometimes it’s difficult to catch their names or read their name tags. Having their introductions on the TV would allow us to better recognize and appreciate their hard work.

My experience was, without exaggeration, incredible from start to finish. The ship, the service, the crew, the land expeditions… everything was extremely well executed, with a level of care that truly stands out.

You can clearly see the attention to detail at every stage of the journey: from the logistics of the landings to the support provided by the team throughout the trip. It’s the kind of experience that exceeds expectations.

Precisely because of that, I’d like to point out one area that, in my opinion, could elevate the experience even further: the photo and video coverage.

I completely understand the challenge: there are many passengers and a very intense schedule, so this isn’t about expecting something personalized. However, I did feel there could be a bit more balance in how passengers are represented in the content.

There seems to be a significant disparity, some guests appear multiple times across the materials, while others don’t appear at all, not even in the background.

In practice, either there should be a more even distribution among guests, or it might make more sense to focus primarily on landscapes and general moments. As it is today, it ends up feeling somewhat uneven.

It’s a small detail within an exceptional experience, but precisely because everything else is held to such a high standard, it stands out.

Overall, I would absolutely go again and highly recommend it.

We were so happy for the experience on the SH Diana. We felt at home as so warmly welcome by the crew and felt we were in good and capable hand during whole trip.

We especially want to thank you Hendy, our Cabin Steward who i met from the first day. He was so nice and attentive to our need. Whenever we met him, he gave us a warm greeting and big smile even i saw he was sweating and busy for mending rooms.

We also want to thank you the F&B crew especially, Arnold, Isreal and the big tall handsome guy who always worn uniform with white shirt (sorry that i couldn't recall him name) They always gave us warm welcome and well attentive to our request. We always had good meals with their cheerful smiles.

Mark and his expedition team was super! They did every possible step to make sure we were safe during our landing and tried their best to show us the marvelous marine life in Antarctica. I can feel the expedition was so well and carefully organized.

Our Antartica experience was exceptional in all aspects. Every staff member were engaging, friendly and supportive. From the time we boarded we were greeted by Roselle and her front house hospitality staff. They welcomed us with professionalism and good humour. They were responsive and reflected the 5 star quality food and beverages provided by the master chef and his galley staff.
We were in the safe hands of experienced and knowledgeable Expeditionary Staff, led by Richard, Gustav and Zane.
Our on Antartica experiences was enhanced by the weather and smooth navigation of the Drake Passage Captain Lobou and his crew.
Every aspect of our maiden Swan Hellenic cruise exceeded our expectations.
We are now rusted on Swan Hellenic passengers. We would highly recommend this experience.

One of the most amazing experience treated like royalson swan helenic. Fantastic crew members , going extra mile, to make our cruising experience most enjoyable. Most luxurious cruise line i have ever experienced , bringing lots of value on the table. Definitely any one wants to travel antarctica, do choose swan . Good luck.

I did an 11-day Weddell Sea/Antarctica cruise on SH Minerva. This is the first cruise I have ever done and boy did it leave an impression. The ship was lovely, clean, and very tastefully appointed. The cabins felt spacious, there was heaps of storage space and extremely comfortable. The hot tub, sauna and gym were great. I found the pool a little on the cold side, but still a lovely spot to watch the world go by. The meals were amazing, variety great, plentiful, and presentation was like any fine dining restaurant. The lounges or decks never felt crowded. And the staff were incredible, from house-keeping to wait staff to the expedition staff. Can't fault anything.

I took part in the February-March 2026 Antarctic Adventure in SH Vega. This was my first ever cruise of any kind as my late wife and I never saw ourselves as 'cruise' people. However, the allure of Antarctica in a small ship (152 pax) drew me to this expedition cruise and travelled as a solo passenger, aged 78. I was not disappointed. The coordination between my UK travel agents (Audley Travel) was first-class and so the information I received via both channels was consistent and timely. The charter flights (flown by Aerolineas Argentinas) arranged by Swan Hellenic from the package starting point of Buenos Aires and Ushuaia and return were Economy class only but it was only a 2½ hr flight so was acceptable. The consequent restrictions on baggage allowance could have been significant for some but were apparently no strictly enforced.
The SH Vega is a delightful ship. Big enough to be comfortable but small enough to navigate into some quite tight bays to achieve exciting and interesting landings. The standard of my 4 Deck cabin was excellent and would have been as comfortable for two as it was for me as a solo passenger. Cabin service by my steward Dom was excellent as was the restaurant and bar service by a team of smiling staff from the Philippines. The quality and quantities of food and inclusive drinks was tip top. I enjoyed a personal tour of the bridge offered to me by the charming Captain Lubo Garcianov on Day2 as an unexpected treat. He is clearly a great leader and an highly accomplished mariner.
The Expedition team was the making of the adventure for me. They were young, knowledgeable and enthusiastic and guided us safely and firmly on the daily shore visits in the zodiac. These visits all included magnificent sights and sounds of the plentiful wildlife of the Southern Continent and the surreal scenery. Back on board, the Exped Team were friendly and approachable and gave an interesting series of lectures in the comfort of the large Observation Lounge. The optional Sea Kayaking events was ably led by Alison and was one of the highlights of the trip for me. The voluntary Polar Plunge was another memorable event!
My fellow passengers were in the main, most agreeable and I was able to engage with many and formed new friendships. I was surprised to find such a large contingent of Russians on board, who had a rather different approach to the adventure so the passenger population naturally split into two main camps.
In sum, I was delighted with the Antarctic Adventure in SH Vega. I will probably not do another expedition cruise for at my advancing age, I need to tick off some other' bucket list' trips before I crumble.

All round experience from staff, Hygiene, food, engaging guests.

We had a dream of a trip to Antarctica — a beautiful new ship (SH Minerva), friendly and knowledgeable expedition staff, great lectures, lots of land outings, penguins galore, lots of whale sightings too, delicious dinners, comfortable rooms, a jacuzzi on deck from which to watch the stunning scenery float by, kayaking among icebergs and Weddell seals, and an invigorating polar plunge right off the side of the ship!

An amazing experience which was backed up by a helpful and knowledgeable crew along with great food

The boat and the crew were fantastic. Quality of the cabins, food, expeditions and the boat was superb. Only downside was that over 100 of the 170 guests were of one nationality and they did not generally mix with other guests. Impacted the atmosphere on board.

I loved the cruise overall, but there were several serious issues — particularly relating to a large group that joined the sailing. Out of roughly 140 guests, around 50 were part of this group, and they were consistently given priority and additional benefits, including an exclusive party.
Because they kept to themselves, it significantly reduced the number of people we could meet and socialise with. In the end, we enjoyed the cruise despite this group, not because of them.
Unfortunately, due to this experience, I would not recommend Swan Hellenic.

Booked a Luxury Antarctic Expedition Cruise for January this year. Cruise was with Swan Hellenic who were recommended by a friend. Could not be more impressed by this company. We were met at the airport by a representative who explained the process moving forward. We were conveyed to our pre cruise accomodation which was 5 star. We were issued boarding passes for our flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia the following morning and our bags were collected and checked through to the cruise ship for us.
The SH Vega was a beautiful ship and our stateroom magnificent. Staff were amazing and the food and beverages were beyond expectation.
The expedition team were knowledgeable and leaders in their fields. The lectures were informative and delivered with ample video and photographic content.
The highlights of the trip were our daily zodiac cruises of which there were 2 a day with continental landings and unforgettable treks on glaciers and small islands. These were run with the highest safety measures and military precision. I will never forget the views and unimaginable beauty from the locations we were taken. The fact there is no itinerary as the weather dictates our journey was another factor that increased the brilliance of this holiday. The wildlife, ice, snow and history of this place is something that I will remember forever. The facilities onboard are second to none and we enjoyed it so much that we have booked a 2027 Iceland, Greenland and Canadian Wilderness cruise on the same ship.
Small ship cruising is a must for this location and the experience provided by Swan Hellenic, in my opinion, cannot be beaten.

An unbelievable expedition! I can’t rate the ship, team, experience highly enough. A once in a lifetime adventure.

Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive to us and all our needs. We were genuinely and happily surprised by the level of attentiveness and the speed with which requests were handled. As mentioned, Captain Juraj and Hotel Director Mauricio were truly the best of the best.

The housekeeping staff who took care of our cabin 502 did far more than an amazing job—everything was always impeccable, with absolutely no complaints. The servers were all top-notch as well.

Everyone who looked after us was outstanding, but Sagar truly stood out with the thoughtful way he always approached us to offer water or drinks. Even when we didn’t know what we wanted, he would pleasantly surprise us with something perfectly made.

Along with Alan, Sylvester, the entire expedition team deserves the highest praise—especially Jamie, Polina, Liya, Kevin, Thomas, Jackie, Louisa, Joe and the rest of the team.

The whole experience was amazing on every level. I cannot praise them highly enough.

We set the bar high with our expedition cruise to Antarctica on the SH Vega and we surpassed it. Absolutely fabulous. The food and wine were amazing and the excursions went like clockwork even though the crew had their work cut out for them with the weather. We had the opportunity to of on an amazing kayak adventure seeing Minke and Humpback whales, a Leopard Seal and Chinstrap Penguins all while being surrounded in nature's beauty. Often while cruising to the next destination, the captain would announce wildlife near the ship and he would manoeuvre so we'd all get a great view, we saw a pod of orca. Also a highlight when we had humpbacks bubble net feeding in front of the ship. Magic! We have been on 2 cruises prior to this with the ships having lots of entertainment areas which we never used, SH Vega was a great size for us as we never felt crowded or felt the need for any other entertainment, I had read reviews complaining about this issue but it was not a problem for us. The expedition crew, the hotel and dining crew were all super friendly and fantastic. A special mention to the Captain who got us to the Weddell Sea which had so much ice, it all added to the adventure when we had to make our own path through the ice. A truly memorable experience and we are so grateful to have been part of it.

We recently cruised on Swan Hellenics Vega ship to Antarctica. It's a boutique ship 3 years old and absolutely beautiful. We have around,40 cruises under our belt and this ship surpassed everyone of them hands down. Cruising on her from Ushuaia to Antarctica was amazing. We were taken on ,2 zodiac expeditions a day with world class Antarctic explorers who guided and informed us about the areas. If you're contemplating an Antarctica cruise make sure it's a ship that can actually doc and one where you're not waiting around. Antarctica can only have 100 people landing max and the Vega cruise do this easily and you're not waiting too long for your turn. If you're thinking about it just do it life's too short.
