I recently completed a course with The TEFL Institute of Ireland, and I was really impressed. The course content was clear, well-structured, and easy to follow, even for someone completely new to TEFL. The platform was user-friendly, and I appreciated being able to learn at my own pace.

What really stood out to me was the support from the tutors — they were quick to respond, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I also found the extra resources and job placement guidance very helpful in planning my next steps.

Overall, I would definitely recommend The TEFL Institute of Ireland to anyone considering teaching English abroad or online. It feels like a solid investment in my future career.

My Experience with TEFL Ireland – Advanced Diploma (300 Hours)

I completed the 300-hour Advanced Diploma, which includes the 180-hour TEFL plus two specialist modules. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this program based on my experience.

Certificate Access & Hidden Fees: Unlike the 120-hour course, which provides a certificate directly, the Advanced Diploma only issues one combined digital certificate upon completion of all modules. Individual certificates (e.g., the 180-hour TEFL) are withheld unless you pay an extra fee; something never disclosed at sign-up. Even a hard copy of the final diploma incurs an additional cost.

Course Delivery: The program is structured, but not in a way that reflects the cost or “advanced” title. Most lessons are essentially text-heavy documents displayed in an interactive screen, with little to no engaging media. Some “videos” were just slides of words, and others were external YouTube links (a few of which no longer worked). Compared to platforms like Coursera or Udemy, this felt outdated and underwhelming.

Assessments: Every lesson in every module required essay-style answers, making the workload unnecessarily heavy. Meanwhile, the short quizzes at the end of lessons (which could have tested understanding more effectively) were ungraded. This design left the course feeling overwhelming and impractical.

Practical Value: Despite hundreds of hours of theory, I don’t feel the diploma builds real classroom competence. There is an optional 10-hour “practical” course, but it costs extra and is virtual, so not exactly hands-on. Even access to lesson plans required a separate review-and-submission process (hence this review), which felt like more hoops to jump through and another shortfall on the package sold.

Support & Delivery: The platform has a 24/7 AI chat but little real human support. To reach staff, you need to email during Irish business hours (roughly Mon–Fri, 9–5), which isn’t practical for students outside that timezone. Weekly Zoom sessions exist, but when I joined, my question was ignored, which discouraged me from attending again.

Overall Value: For the price, all you receive is a single digital PDF, with additional costs at every step. The lack of transparency and the low-quality course delivery make the program feel out of touch with what learners actually need.

In hindsight, I wish I had chosen another provider.

Easy to use course and the website and app learning is great for those looking to learn remotely. Would highly recommend this course.

This course was goldened which I will never forget. I got a reliable syllable for teaching young learners and adults and it really boosted my knowledge of teaching English as a foreign language and totally brushed up my downgrades in some areas of English language.
In addition, it has perfect materials and platforms which assist you with incredible studying time.
As well as mentors are honest and exemplary ones during study as they serve bona fide dedication.
What is more, I recommend to anyone who has extrinsic motivation to join this course because it is the right position, right time, and the right career. You deserve it, if you have an ambition for the next future.

Very useful courses to help you develop your professional teaching life

I have had an amazing experience with TEFL Institute of Ireland. They have been so helpful and responsive throughout the process. Lisa recently helped me track down my missing certificate - I was really grateful for her thoughtful help.

Before embarking on this venture, I had some misgivings about both the practicality of online learning and the suitability of the course to my aspirations. Now I am a few yards away from the finishing line !

The course is well-structured, very informative and the website is easily accessible. I have completed 2/3 of my TEFL LEVEL 5 ADVANCED DIPLOMA and I have just attended a Zoom webinar with Emos, who was very informative explaining the different markets available, what companies are looking for, how to apply for positions, and more. Emos answered any questions with great professionalism and kindness and I feel more prepared to look into my professional future. It's great to have additional support and guidance from the course materials and the tutors.

Very clear layout of learning content. Links to helpful resources and websites to support additional understanding and build learning resources. Quizzes help to reinforce content.

Finally being able to embark on my TEFL path, I have just finished the 30 Hour Advanced Grammar for English Teachers Course and I am so pleased with it. It is concise, to the point and very well explained. I will continue to use this course to build up my portfolio of activities for teaching grammar and am delighted to have found the TEFL Institute of Ireland. I have more courses to start in the next few days. Thank you TEFL Ireland.

This is a great course, if ur on the go and can do it anywhere. I am my own worst enemy as I keep getting sidetracked in my own life so am extremely slow. But am determined to finish it!
