The price of £13.50 for one class photo is extortionate

The price of £13.50 for one class photograph is extortionate in my opinion. Not only are they making an unreasonable profit out of parents - who just want a keepsake of a life moment - they offer a tiny proof (which is heavily defaced with their name written several times diagonally across it) so that it is hard to see the faces at all to make an informed decision. So pleased to hear the high school doesn't use them!

Outrageous prices, miserable service

Outrageous prices for school photos, and even more outrageous shipping costs. Dread this charade every year, the photos aren’t even that good. Miserable perfunctory customer service too.

Our pricing reflects more than just the print or digital file, it covers professional photographers, high-quality equipment, post-production work, and a secure online ordering system. For larger group photos, the cost also incorporates specialist staging, organisation, and setup to ensure every child is captured clearly and safely.

The delivery charge only applies if the order is placed outside of the free 14-day back to school delivery option, if the school has requested for direct ordering only or the customer opts for home delivery. It also is not just postage and packaging, but also postal insurance, so if the order is damaged or lost in transit, we replace it free of charge.

No single photo option

Ridiculous that there is no option to buy a single photo but have to spend a fortune on packs of so many photos you don’t need. Just money grabbing. Glad it’s the last one I’ll have to buy through this dreadful company.

Absolutely awful company

Absolutely awful company, with poor and frankly abrupt and defensive support staff. The website is awful and doesn't clearly explain issues in the order (tried to order a group double pack, but couldn't create the pack with the 2 photos I added because they were different job numbers). Our school has been using this company for photos for many years and the photo quality isn't even up there; overexposed and poor transfer to photo medium.

Poor quality on high price

Poor quality on high price. I don't understand why my daughter school using them. They are far away from professionals and (as a photographer myself) they shouldn't exist on the market at all... On the picture what they took basically all the children eyes closed and the picture itselfs looks like only have a darkener filter. Poor quality! Please DON'T use them! And after all they dare to ask you minimum of £15 for only 1 physical photo without an option of the digital copy...

It could be worthwhile to reach out to your school to see if parents are taking advantage of our more affordable photo options.

We do not provide any digital copies of our group photographs due to issues with parental consent - you have the authority to own the digital copy for your own child/ren but you do not have consent for other parent's children as this would be out of their control. In this instance, physical prints are only available for you to purchase.

We kindly ask the school to check the photograph before distributing the photographs and if any editing work is needed for the whole group photograph, please speak with the school so they can contact us directly and we can look into this further.

Ridiculously expensive for a single photo. Not sure why our school choose this company as the price is almost double on what we paid last year.
Also there is no option of a digital copy like most other companies offer.

Very disappointing experience with nursery group photos

Very disappointing experience with nursery group photos

Our child’s nursery used this company for group photos. We were first sent a photo to purchase, but our daughter’s face was not visible in it. After we contacted the company, they provided a replacement image where her face could be seen.

However, when we received the printed photo, it was still the incorrect version where her face was not visible.

This is extremely disappointing. A nursery group photo is not just a product — it is a shared memory for all the children and families. We are not simply looking for a replacement for ourselves, but believe the company should provide a proper replacement for everyone affected, so that all families can keep a complete and meaningful memory of the class.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company for school or nursery photography. Schools should carefully consider providers with better quality control and customer service.

Awful photography

Awful photography, I don’t understand why our school asks these so called photographers to take photos of our children. Year after year I’m given unnatural photos of my children which I simply refuse to purchase. I can take better photos my self tbh

We keep our images on our system for 10 years should you wish to place an order at a later date, and it may be best to contact our Direct Order team on 01736 751555 (opt. 3, Mon-Fri 8:15am-4:15pm) so they can advise on the different packages that we have on offer.

Support someone else

Considering the cost of living challenges this country is facing I find it very disheartening to see how parents are being over charged for school photos. The prices shared from Tempest are ridiculous and appear to be taking full advantage of the schools and parents alike. Sadly as I want to hold onto these memories, I’ll foot the bill, however I strongly recommend all schools to stay clear of this money grabbing company in future.

Bad photos, bad customer service. Why do schools use?!

So disgusting - the products they make avialble to buy are overpriced and wasteful. You cannot actually just buy the photo you want without having to buy a load of additional photos. Their 'customer service' was slow and rude. Also, most disappointedly their actual photos are not very good! So many children with eyes shut etc. Am going to be asking school to change suppliers asap.

When looking at the image, we have to assess the best photograph out of the alternatives where the majority of the children are facing the camera with eyes open. However, if the parent were to contact is regarding their child's eyes not open, we can instigate an eye swap from the alternative image to the accepted image so all the orders are the same. Anything further, the school would need to contact us directly.

If you have any queries regarding ordering, you can contact our Direct Order team on 01736 751555 (opt. 3, Mon-Fri 8:15am-4:15pm) where an adviser can advise you further.

Extortionate prices

Extortionate prices, the previews are so blurry it is hard to see the photo clearly before you place your order. £20 for a rolled up tube class photo is honestly quite alot, especially when purchasing for more than one child.

Over- priced

Over- priced, rubbish photos honestly if you ask.me. then they force you to pay an extra £5 for delivery if you can't get it delivered to school

Ridiculous! This has been.going on.for too long now
We've spent an absolute fortune on these useless photos with stupid sizes that you can never understand as we have four kids so you can understand my beef!
They just prey on.the sentiments of parents that's why we still buy the photos
Still don't understand why no better company has come up by now!

Just so expensive for school photo's it is a joke.
Learn to lower the prices, more parents will pay and you will end up making more money - simple as 1 2 3.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Tempest Photography’s ordering system. I placed an order for my child’s school photos two days ago and did not receive any email confirmation whatsoever.

There is no clear way to track the order or even verify that it has been processed, which is extremely frustrating. For an online ordering system, basic communication like confirmation emails and order tracking should be standard.
