Unprofessional Management at Wood Green Branch
I left this store without making a purchase because of what was, quite frankly, one of the most uncomfortable retail experiences I have had.
I was being served by a polite, knowledgeable sales assistant who was taking the time to discuss different fragrances, explain what was new, and recommend similar scents based on my preferences. The conversation was informative, relaxed, and exactly the type of customer service that encourages people to buy with confidence.
Unfortunately, the manager completely ruined the experience. She repeatedly paced up and down around us and appeared to be trying to pressure the sales assistant into rushing me towards a purchase. The atmosphere became increasingly awkward, and both the sales assistant and I seemed visibly uncomfortable.
What made matters worse was the manager's tone and attitude. She repeatedly approached us in a way that came across as intimidating and unwelcoming. Rather than supporting her colleague and allowing them to provide excellent customer service, she created an environment that felt tense and uncomfortable.
I genuinely felt sorry for the sales assistant, who was doing an excellent job despite the constant interference. Eventually, the situation became so awkward that I decided to abandon my purchase and leave the store altogether.
Managers should be setting an example for professionalism and customer care, not creating an atmosphere that drives customers away. It was completely inappropriate behaviour to display in front of customers and had a direct impact on my decision not to buy.
As a result of this experience, I have serious reservations about returning to this branch and would not do so if this manager were present. A thoroughly disappointing and unacceptable experience.
