Early this year I've made a decision to change my career path to Data Analytics and was lucky enough to find Turing College.

Their self-paced studies provide the flexibility to learn at your own time. The course is well structured and comprehensive, thought with its challenges. Fortunately, you have support every step of the way in a form of open sessions or simple discussions with fellow learners. Same goes for any data-related question - a like-minded community is there to help. Your projects are evaluated by diverse industry professionals eager to share their experiences, so you gain prospective.

Initially sceptical about the peer-to-peer review system, I now consider it one of the key learning element that makes so much sense. You're constantly reminded of what you've learned so far and that did wonders for my SQL skills.
The learning experience thus far has been excellent and I've been fortunate enough to get a job offer before completing the course.

As the pandemic unfolded, I pursued a career change for stability and the prospect of remote work. Despite my passion for numbers and experience in revenue management, the phrase "print("Hello, World")" didn't resonate; my calculations were confined to Excel. Surprisingly, within approximately 10 months, I progressed from coding novice to laughing at programmers' jokes and excelling at a data analysis task using Jupyter Notebook in Python, assigned by my employer.

The journey had its challenges. I grappled with loops, found lengthy statistics courses daunting, and stumbled through my initial machine learning project, experiencing moments of frustration and even shedding a few tears. However, I honed the skill of rapid learning, a practice I continue to apply daily. I embraced self-research, a skill extending beyond technical learning, and sharpened my analytical prowess through feedback loops.

Notably, the guidance and expertise of the Senior Team Leads (STLs) at Turing College were instrumental in my learning journey. Their mentorship and domain knowledge were invaluable, guiding my transition from an Excel practitioner to a proficient Python user.

My time at Turing College wasn't solely about coding; it was a transformative experience that equipped me with essential skills and steered me toward an entirely new career path.

I had a fairly good understanding of what a Data Analyst job entails, but I lacked official/practical experience in the field. Additionally, I was lacking some technical knowledge, such as SQL and Python programming, as well as how to build statistical models. My initial plan was to gather the required technical knowledge through free online courses and then find a job on my own. However, I ultimately chose to enroll in Turing College.

Why did I choose Turing College?

What drew me to Turing College was the cheerful and positive education team and staff members. They had numerous Senior Team Leads (STL) from companies I aspired to work for. One particular aspect that intrigued me was their effective method cementing newly acquired knowledge through hands-on practical graded projects. These projects are presented to a senior student and an STL (industry professional who typically works as a data scientist or data analyst in well-known companies).

And that's not all. To progress in the course, you need to earn points by reviewing and correcting other students' projects. This approach encourages interactions among students, fosters new friendships, and helps you realize that the same graded task can be accomplished in various ways. I completed the main Data Analyst course in five months and am currently working through some optional modules.

Up to this point, my experience has been nothing but positive. I greatly appreciate the weekly standup video calls where we engage with an STL and fellow students from our group.
Also there are plenty of experienced JTLs (junior team leads) who have regular open-sessions which students can join if they feel they need some additional help. Turing College has also provided me with additional assistance on preparing my LinkedIn and GitHub profiles. Thanks to Turing College, I've already established a few connections in companies I aspire to work for, as I've had one-on-one interactions while they evaluated my Turing College data projects. When interacting with Turing College staff, I genuinely feel their desire to assist me in achieving my learning and employment goals.

Before starting Turing College I came from a completely non-tech related background, the arts, and after Turing College I feel like "I'm in the tech industry now". Turing College really is such a uniquely different style of boot-camp that it feels as though it's in a bit of a category of it's own. I really could talk a lot about the many various ways that TC has created an amazing learning environment, but to keep it simple, let me list some of the main ideas here;

- The curriculum progresses at a great pace, with a very gentle introduction, laying the foundations, up to final projects of epic proportions.
- The curriculum evolves over time to stay relevant with industry trends.
- You really do have so much contact time with working data analysts/data scientists that it really feels more like an apprenticeship than a boot-camp.
- You have a lot of freedom and space for creativity in the projects but still are held to high expectations for accuracy and statistical relevance etc.
- The platform is designed in a way that you are obliged to perform (at least some) peer reviews to continue learning. Often, these were the best moments, full of learning.
- The curriculum asks you to create so many projects that you become so used to 'working as a data analyst' that you really feel ready by the end of the course.
- The endorsement process (job finding assistance) follows the same trend of 1 to 1 contact with working 'hiring managers' to practice for job interviews.
- The online community has grown to be a little world within itself, with a constant supply of people willing to help out those in need.

I can confidently say that I turned into a data analyst at Turing College. It's tough, and asks a lot from you. But it's valuable/current/future-proofed stuff that they're offering. So if you're contemplating, give it a shot!

Another positive review from a Junior Team Lead (me) at Turing College. The main benefit of Turing College is the community it provides. It consists of peers, professionals in field, and staff. You are, in various ways, encouraged to actively participate in the community. 
Perhaps a weaker spot is the curriculum, which consists of various sources on the web. Most if it is free, and in theory, it would be possible to access everything without joining the college. That being said, the corrections (reviews) at Turing make the journey much more fruitful; I'd say I have learnt the most working on the projects, reviewing, and being reviewed. Definetely reccommend.

I sought something beyond the basics, and Turing College caught my eye. After learning more about their program I started with high expectations and remarkably, they were not just met but exceeded. Currently, I'm pursuing the data engineering path. The aspect I appreciate most is the hands-on projects, which are challenging yet rewarding. They demand significant effort, but it's gratifying to see my skills and understanding grow rapidly. The course includes peer reviews as well as individual reviews and stand-ups led by specialists with years of industry experience, which I find exceptionally valuable. Networking is another highlight. We constantly have opportunities to connect with peers, share experiences, challenges, and even fun moments. The community's welcoming nature allows you to be as social as you wish. Halfway through the course, I've already accomplished more than I initially set out to do. I haven't started the endorsement process yet, but I found a new job in DE while studying, and Turing College has indirectly been a great help to me. Turing College is great way to learn about the world of data. The way the course is structured by learning, applying what you have learned by doing a project and then correcting peer's project is really an amazing way to learn and to fix the information in your brain. Chose Turing College for my Data Science course based on good reviews and emphasis on hands-on projects. The course is well structured with sprint projects for every new major topic covered, you get plenty of hands-on project work which is evaluated by peers and data science professionals. The program builds your understanding of data science and key skills required for professional application as well: presentation, reviewing and research. The material is plentiful with extra leads if you want to go down certain rabbit holes in your free time or if you want to 'spice up' your projects with fancy new tools. For me the reason Turing College stands out is the community that is built with staff, data science professionals and learners- plenty of live learning sessions to solve problems and discuss ideas with peers and professionals, active discord for pretty much 24/7 troubleshooting, accommodating staff that do the best to fit the course around the individuals. My course was highly effective in terms of how much I was able to learn in a short period of time. Each time the theoretical knowledge gained through studying the material was transferred to practical application in projects. Those then were corrected by either a peer or senior team lead from the industry which gave me an insight on what could be improved and how I could widen my horizons in becoming a better code writer and a critical thinker.

I have enrolled in their new Web Development bootcamp. Despite having significant experience working in management positions at various FinTech companies, I had no prior experience with coding. Overall I have been very satisfied with the Data Analytics course, I gained valuable SQL, spreadsheets, and BI tool (Looker Studio, Tableau) experience through working on complex projects. Along with the technical tools I also became acquainted with various methods of data analysis.

The course itself was rather demanding, however, it was always easy to find study colleagues or senior team leads that were willing to assist when there were some blockers.
