Turing College has been very supportive of the fact that I work full-time and have made fair accommodations to allow me to stay on track with my studies without compromising my work. I enjoy that the graded tasks, while very challenging, reflect what would be asked of someone operating in the Digital Marketing field. Having these tasks assessed by industry professionals keeps me motivated. The entire experience has been wonderful! Academically challenging content with practical application and support from staff who understand the industry and constraints of being a studying-working professional; what more could you want?

Effective Learning for Career Change
After 20 years in administrative work, I decided to change my career. I chose the Data Analytics course at Turing College, and I found the program extremely useful. The curriculum is well-designed, demanding and regularly updated. I appreciated the strong focus on hands-on application, using real-world problems to practice the concepts learned. I gained significant confidence in SQL, learned Tableau and Python, improved my soft skills, and acquired essential data analytics knowledge.

What truly sets Turing College apart is its exceptional community. The supportive and inclusive environment, with active participation from individuals at all experience levels, accelerates learning beyond what one could achieve independently.

The structured learning path, with clear deadlines, material to study, tasks to complete, peer and senior reviews, and weekly standups, encourages commitment and effort.

I'm currently enrolled in the Digital Marketing and Analytics course, and unfortunately, the experience has been far from what was promised. The initial selling point was that the studies would be self-paced and flexible, which was crucial for me as a working professional. However, recent changes have completely ruined that. We are now required to track our time meticulously on Discord, and we're constantly being pinged, making it extremely difficult to focus.

The regulations and expectations seem to change every month, adding to the confusion and stress. As for the content, it feels that it's largely generated by AI tools like ChatGPT and can be accessed for free elsewhere without paying the price by UZT.

If you're a working professional, I would strongly advise against enrolling in Turing College. The lack of flexibility, constant disruptions, and inconsistent rules make it nearly impossible to balance studies with a job or personal life. Overall, it’s simply not worth the price, and I deeply regret my decision.

In Turing college i was able to get a very strong knowledge base of web development and land a paid front end developer internship position even before i finished my studies.

The learning material is very well structured with all the necessary information and interactive learning resources. Also, it might sound counterintuitive that the college doesn't have any classes to attend to but this approach of self learning creates an opportunity to learn in my own pace without sacrificing the quality of the studies. And the help is always given if needed.

Although, sometimes i felt a bit isolated not having classes together with other students, but Turing college takes care of this as well. They orginise plenty of events over the course of the studies to socialise and meet other people IRL. And the online community is very strong as well.

So to sum up, i have nothing but positive feedback about my learning experience at Turing college!

Turing College has been instrumental in enhancing my knowledge in both technical and business domains. I'm finishing the last parts of the Turing College Data Analytics course and want to share my experience with those who are considering joining.

Community:
The colleagues and lecturers I have met are goal-oriented and very motivating. Studying is not easy, but with the support of others, even if you need encouragement, the journey becomes much easier. And if you have any questions about your studies, Turing College offers several ways to get help very quickly.

Flexibility:
This was very important for me personally to be able to plan my study time and reviews of projects by myself.

Study materials and projects:
I can say that the study material covers all the information needed for the subject and even encourages you to go deeper if you want. In addition, you can put this knowledge into practice in projects (which are challenging) that are reviewed by experts in the field. And that's great, because they review your individual work and give you feedback based on their practical experience. You will also get invaluable advice that will help you continue to perform better as a professional.

So, in conclusion, Turing College has exceeded my study expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to become a data analyst and join this community.

It's a great place to develop or even change career paths. The Data Analytics course has given me great opportunities to develop and help colleagues. The community is always ready to help. The learning materials are also always on hand and up-to-date. I wish everyone to give this college a try and discover what you like.

The community is not only welcoming and supportive but also a fantastic place to acquire and hone new skills. Everyone is eager to help, share knowledge, and collaborate on projects. There are numerous workshops, webinars, and hands-on projects that cater to a variety of interests and expertise levels. The learning resources are top-notch, and the mentors are very knowledgeable and approachable.

Data Analytics: started in August 2023, expect to finish in August 2024.

Turing College gives a strong foundation in SQL, Tableau/Power BI and Python, has an excellent community of peers and mentors in industry, practical tasks that simulate the day-to-day role of a data analyst, and constant support throughout the job hunting process.

Positives:

1) The syllabus is strong and always being updated.

Students are exposed to SQL in their first month of studies, going from beginner to advanced in a couple of months. (The final SQL project in the second month is the most advanced SQL task I have come across, so after completing that, my SQL skills were elevated to the level expected for a junior data analyst. Turing ensures that we build on and reinforce those SQL skills in later modules, to the point where I now feel very confident in my technical skills).

As for Python, when I joined the module was just over a month long, so I have some basic knowledge of Python, enough to apply to logistic regression and risk analysis. Recently, however, Turing has updated the syllabus to put more emphasis on the importance of students having strong Python skills, so the module has now been expanded to a three-month module. I think this is excellent and shows that Turing has its finger on the pulse of current industry trends and requirements.

2) Industry professionals are easy to access and provide great mentoring.

With a couple of exceptions, every project (between 10 and 15, depending on the specialisations you choose) is reviewed by an industry professional (from companies such as IBM, Vinted, Western Union, etc…), so you get very detailed feedback, an insight into how this project would be approached in the real world, and an opportunity to build a relationship with a potential mentor.

3) The community is very active and supportive.

Open sessions are held multiple times a day to help learners if they’re stuck on a project, while weekly standups give learners a chance to interact with other people who started at the same time as they did (in the presence of an industry mentor), which helps foster a great community feel.

Even though the studies are online, I have made a new friendship group from my studies, something that I haven’t experienced when studying online elsewhere (e.g. in my MSc programme at university).

There are also dedicated weekly standups for those who are in the endorsement and hiring stage, which helps to guide you during the job search.

Any negatives?

I have heard the occasional complaint about the quality of some peer reviews, but I would say this is the exception rather than the rule. All of my peer reviews have been good, many have been exceptional, and anyone reviewing your work must have passed the project already, which gives some quality control.

I would be wary of expecting to finish the programme in the time it says on the website. It says 6-10 months for the data analytics programme, but 10 months is more realistic than 6. Those who finish in 6 may complete the core modules, but if you want to get the most out of the programme I think it makes a lot of sense to take as many specialisation modules as you can (of which Python is one), so you should assume it will take longer than you think.

Will it get me a job?

I can’t speak from my experience, because I’m not at the stage where I’m applying, but a few people from my batch have already landed data analyst jobs, despite not yet finishing the programme. Turing’s endorsement/hiring preparation process is rigorous, and from speaking to friends outside of Turing, we learn more in-depth SQL at Turing than we would need in our day-to-day job, so I’m confident that the transition from Turing to the job market will be smooth.

As with many things, you get out what you put in. If you’re dedicated to switching careers into data analytics, I'm confident that you will find the programme at Turing very rewarding.

The community and communication is great. There was always the possibility to receive help for anything which was needed and this became better after the got more people to help! There is a lot of reading for the courses though.

I have had a great experience with Turing College. My favourite part of the program is peer and STL reviews. You get to see your work from other people's perspective and improve.

I am currently at the final stages of completing my data analytics course at Turing College. My learning experience has been outstanding. The course is sufficiently demanding without being overwhelming. The course provides sufficient flexibility to accelerate studies where I felt more comfortable with the material and really deep dive into topics that were most relevant for me.
Most importantly, my studies were very practical with clear and direct links to real world application. Assignments are practical and well structured to test and supplement your learning. The team leads are experienced industry professionals who not only help you with completing your studies, but also provide great insight to the wider industry.
Overall, I am am very pleased with the Turing experience and am currently making the best of my optional modules further deepening my data science and technical skillset.

The key aspect for me is the possibility of merging learning and working knowledge. I'm glad I joined the Data Analyst course to get materials and knowledge for my upcoming works!
