Seems to be a lot of negative reviews but can honestly say I am currently “wow’d”
We have had terrible broadband (10
Mb) forever and cannot get fibre or mobile broadband. So thought I would give starlink a go
The kit (free) arrived within 2 days and I was up and running within 20 minutes with the dream of 100MB download speeds after years of struggle with work meetings etc
So far, very good indeed
Unreliable, expensive and no help
Starlink and their customer service were great when we moved to Devon a few years ago but the service has gone downhill ever since. Dropouts, terrible download speeds, surprise price hikes (the bot said these would not affect us - but they did) and wifi calling failures. No help when you contact them, they hide behind useless bots and customer 'service' teams who don't get back to you. Avoid. There are better deals out there - checkout Chat GPT. We're off.
Don't buy the mini unless your in the…
Don't buy the mini unless your in the middle of nowhere no trees no materials to block the signal.
It has to face a certain direction to align with starlink make that make sense. They dont tell you this till you install 270⁰ of nothing 90⁰ of trees. So let's make them point it at the trees.
Then try & find & mount with a pole to raise it above my building. Impossible be looking for over a week now they do not exist. They exist for the everything but the mini
Ill probly stop paying for this next month if cant raise this pos above my building
£40 a month so can watch a movie buffer every 30second. I used to get 2-3Mbps from 3 that worked better than this.
Major limitations missing from order process
I ordered Starlink Mini because my home has an uninterrupted view over the English Channel. At no point during the ordering process was I clearly warned that, in the UK, the service requires a clear view of the northern sky. The website repeatedly refers to checking for “obstructions”, which naturally suggests trees, buildings or other physical obstacles—not that an entire direction of sky is unusable.
Had this fundamental requirement been made clear before purchase, I would never have ordered the service or paid the non-refundable delivery charge.
To make matters worse, after cancelling the service and opening a formal complaint, Starlink still debited a further £40 from my bank account before my expected first billing date. I am now having to dispute both the delivery charge and an unexpected payment while waiting for customer support to respond.
The technology may be impressive, but the customer experience has been extremely disappointing. Clearer pre-purchase information and better billing practices would have prevented this entire situation.
Rubbish
Rubbish. Service is terrible, at £80 a month you'd expect a good connection, nope. Then you ask me to choose a payment date, but choose your own meaning the bill is coming out before my payday every month and you are refusing to change this, so I've left. Wanna chance it, crack on. Personally i'd save your time and money.
What a bit of kit
What a bit of kit. Literally plug it in point it at the sky and full WiFi and IP connection, no passwords, no portals 5 bars straight away by dumping it on a table in Essex.
No internet for 2nd time in 6 weeks
For the 2nd time my internet is not working. It is impossible to speak to a person and I have twice requested a ticket to get someone to call but nobody has. I have been charged £80 for this month only to be told by my router that my account is invalid. Appalling customer service.
Great product, awful customer service
Like all Tesla linked companies, Starlink is a great product with probably the worst customer service experience possible.
I signed up with a £10 discount for 6 months and no hardware cost. 1 month later the price was increased by £25 - so £15 more then the price I'd signed up with. So, quite a dishonest discount.
Talking to Grok is the only customer service option available - you can't ever talk to a human - and it's good at giving you basic info quickly, but lacks any nuance or sympathy, and repeats itself often. It's the equivalent of "computer says no", but I think the fact it's clearly not a human giving poor answers feels incredibly irritating.
Internet speeds seem good and consistent and I can get much better speeds than the BT 1tb/s package when using the Mesh setup - it's almost full normal speed at a Mesh point with Starlink whereas using BT's discs had degraded to around 20mb/s or a loss of 98% of the speed.
Installers also made a mess and didn't tidy up after themselves.
Better than most experience
Although there are a lot of what appear to be genuinely aggrieved customers, our experience was better. We ordered a Starlink kit on a Monday in June and it was here less than 2 days later. We paid £75 for the professional install but were then let down by 2 separate hopeless installers we had allocated to us. I dreaded having to use the AI assistant in trying to get our money back for the install as we had decided to use someone of our own choosing, but this was actioned within 30 minutes! The install finally went ahead last Monday and we are getting just over 100mbs. Early days yet and I have no doubt the monthly cost will continue to go up (as clearly he doesn't have enough money already), but so far, so good.
Terrible speed. Expensive. Awful customer service.
The download speeds were ok, but not that fast. We were getting around 60mb download. But the upload... 1mb!!! 1MB upload?!
Literally it was faster to tether from our phones. Instead we've gone back to a SMARTY SIM + Cudy router which costs £20 a month and delivers faster speeds for 1/4 of the price. And I don't need to feel bad about giving Elon money to spend on election fraud.
£225 in total wasted. Customer support is non-existent. They just direct you to Grok which is the dumbest AI on the market and error'd every time it tried to issue a credit.
Oh - and they refused to refund us even though we'd only been using the service for 5 days.
Scam company. Scam founder. Don't use Starlink.
Don’t trust the AI vs agent
Constant delays on delivery and messages clearly from AI agent. Zero focus on dates. Only reason to purchase from them is the terrible rural coverage from the UK oligopoly suppliers.
Absolute rubbish customer service
Absolute rubbish customer service, I only want help, advice and a price for the Starlink. I received nothing of the above, obviously they think they have the monopoly of this business, I don't think so, my advice is go somewhere else where they will help you. Do not use this company.
Horrific
Horrific. No customer service other than horrendous Grok AI which is worse than useless. Confusing terms and conditions. Emails informing me that the £25 deal I signed up for (for 6 months) would be jumping to £40 after the first month. A living nightmare. Signal not the best either. The unknown is the worst thing - will the prices rocket? Will you be charged a fee to cancel? The lack of transparency is shocking. They seem to chop and change deals without warning all the time. A very stressful experience. Awful.
Rip off Musk
Same as most reviews here. Ordered Starlink on the £25 six month deal, waited an eternity for it to arrive. Second month charges raised to £40. Absolute useless customer service which is just an AI bot, so you get even more frustrated. Will be seeking another provider ASAP. Avoid at all costs, he's got enough money anyway😡
Never normally leave reviews but this…
Never normally leave reviews but this is astoundingly terrible. I would leave zero stars if possible.
Switched from wired broadband because of the good offer of £25 pcm for 6 months if signing up prior to 30 April 2026.
1. Wifi since switch has gone from stable and good to patchy and rubbish.
2. Despite advertised price has charged me £40 pcm from month 2.
3. When contacting them I simply get gaslighted by grock, told that I can’t prove what was promised, and refused any human contact.
Will be cancelling tout de suites.
Complete Scam
Complete bait-and-switch. Signed up for a £35/month rate with a guaranteed 2-week delivery window. Charged £43 first month prior to installation was complete. 2nd invoice is £60. How are they getting away with this Unbelievable. Raising prices.
I will be reporting to financial ombudsman. If you are having the same issues I would suggest you do the same.
Starlink overcharging
I agreed an introductory monthly fee of £23 for 12 months for 100mbps residential service. Second month in I see Starlink is going to take £40 from the CPA. Suffice to say debit card cancelled at the bank (cannot remove from Starlink systems) Starlink cancelled and the kit being returned. They cam chase me for the £40 they will not get it as they breached the contract. For me its not the price ots the dishonesty and not being able to call and resolve with a real person, just talk to AI who screws it up.
Excellent breadboard
Excellent breadboard, unfortunately have to have multiple dishes home and my vehicle as mobile date coverage in the uk is very very poor. Starlink in the USA offers discounts on second dish subscriptions. But in the UK no discounts are available on multiple subscriptions. Will this be available in the future?
it is bloody joke
it is bloody joke. from very beginning this bunch of fraudants trying rip you off. paid for fitting which never happend. they try to charge you monthly for something what never was fitted and active. discusting customer service.
What an appalling waste of time
What an appalling waste of time
I applied for the Stalink system with the free fitting. It was ideal for my area and the speeds sounded good. HOWEVER The box finally arrived after a number of weeks but nothing from Starling re the fitting. I finally got notification that they were beginning to charge me for the system. I advised them ( or there robot) that the system was not yet fitted and I had heard nothing from the installation team. They gave me 2 telephone numbers to ring, one was out of service the second said they could not fit the system without notification from starlink. Starlink wanted me to pay a further £299 to get the system fitted. I tried to contact Starkink but could not get past the robot so I have given up. What a shambles of an organisation. Avoid like the plague
