I re-booked with Unyoked after a really awesome trip a couple years back, but our stay this year was average.
• The first section of the trail leading up to the cabin was mostly deep (20cm) tractor wheel tracks pressed into the dirt. During rains this turned into liquid and the site became almost inaccessible by foot. The wheelbarrows provided to carry things increase your instability in the mud particularly on the hills and aren’t fit for this terrain. I was notified about excessive mud on the site *after* I'd booked, telling me to bring an extra pair of shoes. Felt a bit deceptive. I don’t mind a difficult hike but trying to climb a muddy hill while it actively disintegrated under my feet with gear on my back was a safety concern.
• The composting toilet odor was overwhelming even with the exhaust fan running. We went out and bought a scented candle which had no effect. Each time you opened the bathroom door you were struck in the face with the stench of an open sewer. We had to keep the bathroom door shut at all times and put 2 towels over the toilet bowl to keep the smell at bay. We were aware of the composting toilet system because we’ve used unyoked before but this didn’t happen at our last stay. Unsure if it’s just an infrequently emptied waste bay or an issue with the ventilation in the cabin. There was also just barely enough wood shavings provided to cover 3 nights for 2 people, even though we were sparing with them.
• The tools and amenities at the cabin were tired; the knives are dull, the fire tongs are warped, bent and make it difficult to grab anything, the pepper grinder was broken and I ended up dumping a half cup of whole peppercorns into the food on our first night. The mismatched white towels provided for the shower had rips in them. There’s only 2 clothes hooks in the whole cabin, and no space for hanging clothes / towels.
• Most importantly, after using the outdoor bath, I emptied it while the fire was dying down. 5 minutes later there was a noise like a shotgun and a 6m bolt of superheated steam & water rocketed out of the hot water spout and shot across the campsite, hitting the side of the cabin. If someone had been walking in the line of fire, they would have been severely scalded, blinded or worse.

I think the overall issue here is a real lack of upkeep. I’m aware that these cabins were built several years ago and are probably nearing the time for a refresh. Given that prices have gone up since I last booked with Unyoked and that quality seems (at least from this last visit) to have gone downhill, I might not recommend or re-book.

Everything about the stay was spot on, from the comms, the little cards in the room to support switching off, the books, the coffee….. everything! Soo cleverly thought through. Everyone needs to experience this!

This is my 3rd Unyoked cabin stay and jeez did I need it! I love the thought that has gone into these tiny home stays, with the whole purpose designed to help slow down, unwind and disconnect. My work is stressful and with just one night away, I feel more human than I have in months. I’ll be booking again soon! Highly recommended!!

What a FANTASTIC experience, the attention to detail and planning to ensure you can just arrive with your essentials and - live. So beautiful, we tried the recipes and they were a HIT, the outdoors in the June cabin were so lovely and peaceful. If you're looking to switch off, this is the pick to go for. Thank you Unyoked!

Great experience. This is our third trip away with unyoked and it’s definitely the best of the tiny house accommodation option. Tiny considerations really go along way and unyoked do this perfectly

I loved it! Unyoked have thought of everything you need to switch off and feel like you’re in paradise without feeling uncomfortable like you often might feel when you go camping. I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to regulate their nervous system quickly.

Jasper was so lush! The hike was as described , spicy but the comfy linen & bed ; kitchen kitted out with everything you could ever ask for ; all the amenities were well supplied. Making it a mission to collect all the sigils now - gives me peace of mind and comfort to know that what you see is what you get !

What an amazing experience! This place is an absolute must-do escape for anyone looking to truly disconnect and reconnect with nature.The location is perfectly secluded, offering a simple setup that still provides absolutely everything you need. There is nothing quite like sitting by the outdoor fire, listening to the waves of Johanna Beach blending beautifully with the sounds of the surrounding bushland. It was the perfect reset. I cannot recommend this hidden gem enough!

We stayed in Tilly for a couple of nights. It was exactly what we needed! The cabin was easy to find and felt very secluded amongst the trees. It was stocked with everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and cozy and we loved waking up to the view. We also did one of the Strava walks which was a great way to explore the area. 100% recommend!

Amazing experience, nothing like am outdoor bath under the stars with a glass of wine and someone special to relax you. Follow it up with marshmallows round the fire.

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic weekend away in unyoked’s cabin, Otis in Suffolk. The information pack provided beforehand was really helpful, and made the arrival stress free. The cabin is in such a lovely spot looking out onto a wild flower filled meadow. The cabin itself was so cosy, and we loved waking up and opening the blinds to the unspoilt views. We went on one of unyoked’s recommended Strava walks and found a lovely village called Hartest along the way. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for escapism.

Perfectly secluded and brilliantly equipped with all the camping basics you need. The bed was firm but comfy (and the views from those windows, omg!) The shower was also big and clean. Plus, the landscape was just so lovely!

What a wonderful location, superb views and great cabin. Some minor issues could not tie back front door to air the cabin as described and the bathroom door latch is broken causing the bathroom door to keep banging, not wuite the peace we had hoped for. Address these minor po8nts and it would gave been 5/5, would thouroughly recommend and we be looking at our next cabin stay

A very cozy cabin with an amazing view of the mountains through the window. It felt like every detail is thought through from the car parking to details in the cabin. Highly recommend for a couple of detoxing days.

Stayed at Tibor in the middle of winter, it was incredible! The views were insane, such a clean cabin, no issues with hot water and the composting toilet had zero smell. The sheep come up close to the cabin at night, sunrises and sunsets were stunning. The wood fired hot tub was so luxe - if you are competent with fire you can get it going in about 2.5 hours, if you are not then expect the 6 hours! The hike down to the cabin is also no joke, very steep and very loose so pack light and check the weather as it could be gnarly in the wet. Would 100% return to this cabin!

Loved the location , it was bitterly cold , sadly in the am it was a struggle until a bit of heat came from the fire. Access for me was very difficult , I have COPD so the slope was difficult to negotiate. I will probably go " unyoked" again when it warms up ,but, I need to be able to access on level ground or drive my Ute to site to unload. Overall, a good experience.

Unclean, trash full to the top, no hot water and drains were full so we couldnt sleep, wash or relax.

I am deeply sad to be writing this. After seeing their amazing posts on instagram I was super excited and booked time off for my husband and I to spend a few days off in the forest. We stayed at Tilly near Cirencester. When we first arrived, I checked everything to make sure things were clean. I’m glad I did because I immediately found hair, dead flies and bugs and so much dust around the bed. The tiny trash bin we were to use for the days we spend there was already full from the last trip someone had there. Anyway, I said its fine we can deal with it. Next thing, no proper hot water. It ran for a minute and immediately it was freezing cold again and the drain filled up so quickly that the water was going everywhere. And I can dust and clean around the bed but I am NOT cleaning someone elses drain. So, okay, no shower for us either.
As we stayed there with no cleanliness and uncomfortable stay, we had to make the decision cut our visit short because the bed was also not very comfy. I can see some people have aaid great stuff and Im super happy for them but for us maybe it’s a different cabin? Different bed? I don’t know. It was so disappointing to have to cut our stay short after spending so much money because we were so uncomfortable on a stay that was advertised as a Mental Health Break.

I did email the company giving feedback thinking hopefully someone else who genuinely spent their hard earned money would not have a disappointing trip like we did, but we have not heard back from them at all. So I decided to take it here instead. I did provide them with lots of pics in my email too.

Please check reviews for your specific cabin. I can speak for Tilly, it was not well maintained. Maybe choose another one.

We were saddened by how unpleasant our stay turned out to be.

My partner and I booked what we hoped would be a relaxing two-night escape into nature—a chance to leave behind the stress and chaos of everyday life. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to our expectations.

When we arrived, the cleaners were just finishing up and told us they only needed to collect some wood chippings before the cabin would be ready. Once we entered, however, we were immediately met with a strong smell of urine and faeces. Ironically, the only thing that helped was that one of the windows wouldn’t fully close, seemingly due to warped wood, which at least allowed some fresh air to circulate.

After settling in, we made ourselves a coffee, only to find stale water sitting in the bottom of both mugs, suggesting they hadn’t been properly cleaned. We went to wash them ourselves using the limited washing-up liquid provided, but then realised there wasn’t even a dishcloth available.

Later that evening, we discovered reddish-brown stains on the duvet, long black hairs in the bedding, and a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which made us question the cleanliness of the cabin.

Although we had booked two nights, we decided to leave a day early, checking out at around 7pm because we simply didn’t feel comfortable staying another night.

We fully appreciate that this is an eco-friendly cabin, and we expected some compromises. However, with temperatures exceeding 30°C, the composting toilet smell became overwhelming. There were also no cleaning supplies available should guests wish to freshen up the cabin themselves, and only very limited amounts of body wash and toilet spray were provided.

What felt particularly disappointing was that there are clear warnings about guests being fined for leaving the cabin in an unacceptable state, yet on arrival the outside area was littered with cigarette butts, and the cabin itself did not appear to have been cleaned to a good standard.

There is clearly potential here, and the location is peaceful, but the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail significantly impacted our stay. Hopefully these issues can be addressed, as with better housekeeping this could be a much more enjoyable experience.

Amazing experience. Our cabin was dog friendly and honestly was the best off grid getaway we’ve ever had with the three of us. Highly recommend.
