Vintage Inns pubs Avis 

I went to the Rose&Crown at Dunton green Seven oaks today with friends. It was quite a long wait for service and two drinks I asked for were not available, one was draught Guinness. Anyway, we ordered our food and I had a burger. It was a slice of beef in a bun with salad, covered in some unidentifiable gloop. The onion rings were cremated as were the fries. When asked if everything was ok I complained about the quality of the food, the server said she would have a word with the chef. I suggested she sack him. Anyway, she knocked 10% off my meal . I didn't really want a refund, I would rather an edible meal. Incidentally, I am a butcher and to me a burger is minced beef.
Won't be going back.

After receiving an email with an offer of 40% off mains we decided to go to the Otter at Kegworth. There were 4 of us and 2 had the set menu and 2 had main meals which we were led to believe would be subject to the discount. We have now been informed that it does not apply if anyone on the table chooses the set menu.
What a load of rubbish. Do not go, however if you do, make sure you know what discount your voucher entitles you to before you order.
We will not be visiting a Vintage inn again.

We have a few Vintage Inns near where we live, so we thought that this Vintage Inn (The Angel, Chelmsford) would be just as good. Unfortunately, my main meal was very disappointing. As a vegetarian, I have had the halloumi skewer option from other Vintage Inns many times, which has mostly been very good. I didn't want to have that again so looked at the other vegetarian options, which there were very few. The lentil cottage pie would be something that I would cook at home, so I didn't go for that option and I often find that falafel can be very dry. I chose to have Margherita pizza with a small side salad. When the pizza arrived, I could see that the bottom was burnt and so was all the flour that was covering my plate. They had been really stingy with the toppings - there was barely any tomato sauce & three small areas of melted mozzarella. There was no basil in sight. The side salad tasted really awful and was mostly limp lettuce, I couldn't eat it. They must have been short staffed as there was no one around to talk to about my awful main course and no one came over to ask how our food was.

On a positive note, our starter of baked mushrooms was tasty and my husband enjoyed his fish & chips.

We were away for just a few days and this was our first evening out, I was very disappointed. It was not a good start to our mini break.

Made An impromptu visit to this amazing pub/restaurant, wonderful greeting by Jess helpful made us so welcome. I ordered the lasagna it was the best food we have ever had out, the service Jess exceptional and the restaurant clean shall definitely be visiting again

Visited the brassmills at keynsham Bristol .
I pre-booked a table for me and my wife , entering the venue there was a sign stating short on staff , only bookings being taken , the pie of the day had been forgotten to be made , the meals took forever to come out , and when they did my wife's chips were under cooked , and my burger bun was hard over cooked , and so was my burger, not worth the money at all, could have got better from a burger van.

Had a fantastic meal with friends , the food was amazing and the waitress was really friendly, the pub has a lovely ambience. The one negative was I received a £100 parking ticket for using the carpark, however the manager James sorted getting this cancelled for me with proof of our booking. So I would just warn people to 100% make sure they enter the correct Reg and remember to press confirm on the computer pad.
Can't wait to return in the winter as noticed many log fires which I think will be so cosy on dark cold nights.

Almost nothing on the menu was available including the ribeye which I would have expected to be a staple.
This was an ordinary Sunday afternoon not a hot day or a Bank Holiday or anything like that. One of our party ordered the trio Sunday dinner the roast potatoes had a texture like they had been roasted then steamed the rest of the food was cold the roast beef looked like it had been medium rare when it was plated up but had the taste and consistency of beef Jerry when it arrived.sauage stuffing was grey in colour tasteless and gritty. We had three other meals all of the same aeroplane food standard I've had better ready meals. The service was a little better the staff were very pleasant but under staffing causing ques and extended waiting times for get served and food service. Finally the voucher I handed in as I opened a tab was not calculated in the final bill a had to wait wile someone went to find the member of staff who was on duty when I arrived

I booked a section of The Snowy Owl pub in Cramlington for a family and friends reunion. A hot buffet was chosen. The venue is very nice with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff are tremendous and friendly. The quality of the food on the hot buffet was very good, but there was not very much of it. A buffet for 16 was more like a buffet for 10. Not cheap considering the limited amount of food. Drinks were at the upper end of the price range from the bar. That said, the evening went very well. I would go there again. It's a nice place with good food and great staff.

Lovely meal today with great service using a voucher. Good choice of menu. Our server was Sharon who was very attentive although it was very busy.
Ate at The Lambs Green Inn BH21 3DN

Went to Green Man longfield. Staff were nice and friendly and placed in a nice seating area. The area was semi tidy but staff seemed very busy. Our table was cleaned as we arrived at it. The food and drink was served quickly. First the drinks my husband had tea . I had a strawberry daiquiri which was very disappointing as my favourite cocktail!! Tasted horrible it was over priced and left an after taste of plastic in my mouth icky. We had Sunday lunch potatoes looked nice but so tough to cut looked like they had been over cooked and left. Broccoli was very raw!!! For the price was quite disappointed and would have preferred a Toby which is hot . We did not stay for dessert 😢

We had Sunday lunch at The Travellers Rest, Thornhill Caerphilly on 30th August 2026, yesterday.
This was our first visit. The place is very nice, with a pleasant atmosphere.
However we had a constant battle with wasps.
In the part we were seated, the windows were open allowing several of them easy access into this dining room. We were particularly concerned as my wife was just finishing a course of antibiotics following a reaction to a resent bee sting.
We weren't the only people unhappy with this as some moved to another area, with us and everyone else in that part, waving the bees/wasps away, all the time we were there.
The food was nice, well cooked but barely warm, which was disappointing.
From here things didn't improve.
On at least two occasions we had to find a server to get dessert menus, then after CX ordering we had to chase them to deliver and some items never arrived, so we gave up.

While paying the bill, I did mention how disappointing the visit was, and that I will never return.
They are simple fixes.
Give better service.
Deliver hot food.
Fit fly screens to the windows.
However too late for me.

We had such a lovely time at Lion Restaurant in Farningham. A special thank you to Clare — she was so warm, kind and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. Her wonderful customer service made our experience extra special. Delicious food and lovely atmosphere too — we’ll definitely be back!

The food was luke warm the chips looked like they had be reheated many times. Bakers arms Dorchester Road, Lytchett Minster, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6JF very disappointed, will never return.

Am currently at the Devils Dykx Pub and have waited I hour and 10 minutes for our main meal. The manager Elsie told us because 2 of our party of 5 had a starter that’s why it took so long! We wouldn’t have ordered starters if we knew that. Elsie admitted she should have told us and said she took full responsibility but was not willing to give us any customer service and was very rude. My dad’s birthday was a disaster and I’m not happy! We will not be returning!

Robin Hood, Clacton on Sea:
On arrival -
We had requested wheelchair access and the entrance we was told to use had a step to negotiate and we had to move a pile of plastic boxes to be able to access the building.
Yesterday we had a table booked for over 20 people. No effort had been made to seat us together eg tables moved.
Several of us were unhappy with our meal, especially the small portions. After the main meal was finished 2 of us asked for coffee and both orders were wrong and had to be rectified. We were billed for a lemonade we hadn't had. The main issue was paying the bill. We weren't allowed to go up individually to pay as is normal practice these days. A bill for all of the meals was produced as we were asked to line up and pay! After a misunderstanding at the till some of us were told to go up and have our bill cancelled and repay, hoping that we hadn't been charged twice. We were told if we go again someone would have to pay for the whole bill and divi it up afterwards. The bill came to over £600!
Obviously they can't cope with large parties of people and need to modernise their procedures.

Staff welcoming as always. service swift. food excellent. prices fair. excellent view to South Downs.

My husband and i had haddock fish cakes for lunch today i could not find much fish in mine and coating very hard my husbands had fish but it was tuff.

We are sitting at our table at the Swan Inn at Horning, enjoying a beautifully cooked lunch and served by friendly and attentive staff unfortunately, this was marred by not being able to connect to the guest Internet site and, collect my reward for the meal. All the staff use iphones and, little old me is on android which, they didn't understand.
Didn't detract from the lovely improvements that been done.
Our third visit this year and, our go to place for 8 years.

Absolutely terrible. I reserved a table on line. No point it was a free for all. I was first sat under a 2ft speaker. I moved myself to a table in a better location. All the empty tables has not been cleared, so you you had to clear and clean your table yourself. My food and drinks were ordered on their app system. It took my money but not my order. Staff were not trained, and were running around like headless chickens. No organisation, no management.

The Sovereign, Peniston Road, Shepley, Huddersfield, West Yorks.
We booked a table for 11 people for a family gathering to celebrate our step mum / grand mum / great grand mum's belated birthday.
As the party size was over 8 persons we had to let the staff know what our starters and mains were going to be. 3 days before the day. This ensured our choices were available. This turned out to be very good.
From the start the staff were excellent, they were attentive (or telepathic) as drinks and courses appeared without us knowing. Our family conversation only paused to eat. With 11 people the order was extensive but delivered without a problem.
The quality of food was also excellent and very reasonably priced.
We had a memorable day and left with big smiles and full stomachs.

Excellent service was provided by Kelly, Jess & Elysia.

Thank you everyone at the Sovereign, we will be back again.
