Shame on VW

I have been totally ignored by VW Group and VW UK. In fact they have bare faced lied to me and you. Now your franchise is making up meetings that never happend some 16 months ago they even mentioned a chart on the wall. This guy should be on the stage. Sad all your good work is for naught and shame on VW

Awful experience with Volkswagen altricham

1/5
Absolutely awful experience with Volkswagen Altrincham. We bought a VW Tiguan R-Line in January, and within just 7 hours of collecting it, the Mechatronic unit failed. They took the car back to fix it, and after a couple of weeks we got it returned — only to discover more issues with the headlight and starting system.

The car went back and forth to the garage several times, wasting our time and completely undermining any confidence we had in the vehicle. Eventually, they told us the car had suffered water damage and was beyond repair — and they issued a refund.

To our shock, that same car is now back up for sale on their forecourt. This is the same vehicle they claimed was irreparably damaged. It feels dishonest and incredibly concerning, especially for a dealership that is supposed to uphold the Volkswagen brand’s standards.

On top of all that, the customer service throughout this ordeal was awful. Not once during the entire process did anyone offer a proper apology or take ownership of the situation. Avoid

This is about the online booking…

This is about the online booking system. I went online, got a quote for a timing belt change of £408 so I booked it all in. The local dealer then contacted me to tell me it's actually over £700. You boast you can undercut any written quote which is true if you book online but it's no good if when you go to the selected dealer you find it's double the price. It's very deceptive.

New Tiguan Warranty Issues

My brand new Tiguan, after 11 days showed there was an error with the airbag, this turned out to actually be a seatbelt fault, which needs a backorder part, with no date as to when it can be repaired. I have now been without a car, which I need for my job for 11 days to date, I have been trying to get a replacement car whilst mine is in for repair and there has been constant arguments between VW UK and the dealership as to who is going to supply one. VW should be ashamed of their customer service, none of this is my fault and the earliest date the dealership can get me a courtesy car, I will have been without a car for 14 days, been unable to meet work commitments and have had to cancel a half term break away. My advice is do not order the new Tiguan, I had to wait 30+ weeks for my car to be delivered and was told it was 17 weeks when ordered and then this debacle when it goes into the dealership for a safety related warranty repair at under 2 weeks old and I'm not the only owner with Warranty issues.

Terrible customer service from VW UK

Terrible customer service from VW UK
i took my car a (MK 8 VW Golf GTI clubsport) to VW Bedford for the travel assist issue which is a known fault and the car was under warranty,
I had my steering wheel changed and the dealer told me there is another fault with the lane side assist which would also be covered under warranty they ordered the part which they said was a module in the rear bumper and took the car in again a few weeks later.
They stripped down the bumper then realised it wasn’t the the part in the bumper it was only a fuse so they had misdiagnosis the issue then called me telling me i have to pay for all the labour and in the process they damaged my bumper and broke clips and didn’t fit my bumper back on straight I called VW UK and they told me they would called the dealer they contacted vw Bedford then called me back saying they couldn’t do a thing about it I’m massively let down by VW why do they have a customer service if they can’t do anything about these rouge dealers,
I will not be buying another VW car in the future.

Super sad that we were strongly…
:( Super sad that we were strongly encouraged to take the new car ordered, 6 months earlier than expected. then within weeks we discovered that the same vehicle was available for contract hire at half the price. Had we waited we could have had it for half the price too. We have contacted VW and they said, no going back on the price agreed. They claim they didn't know the price would drop. As it turns out they have to sell a certain number of electric vehicles a year otherwise they get fined, so they offload them towards the end of the year, which would seem that they knew exactly what they were doing, nice way to treat a good customer of 10 year hey :(

I’m extremely disappointing approved used vw

I’m extremely disappointing used vehicle purchase
I’m extremely disappointed in the so called approved used VW that was purchased.

I’ve had the vehicle less than a year from Vertu Volkswagen Lincoln and so far I’ve had numerous problems which have an occurred most of which are down to poor pre sale preparation.

I purchased the car from vertu in Lincoln and on the day of collection itself I had an issue upon driving away with the cruise control and had to return immediately to the dealership it was resolved at the time but to this day I still have the same warning light and it keeps returning.

The wheel speed sensor then failed within a few days of ownership and I had to leave the vehicle where it was and it was repaired at the roadside under the roadside call out.

Since then I’ve had further problems with large amounts of water leaking into the rear doors and footwells this was resolved but the car had to be collected and returned to Lincoln which was not only inconvenient as I was again without a car but also added a significant number of miles onto the car as it had to be driven back there for this further repair.

Now most recently after having it serviced it had a failure again almost immediately after collecting it from being serviced at Brighton caffyns the cruise control failed yet again (you will recall its the same fault I had the day it was picked up) and then I had more warnings come up.
Again it was collect and according to the dealer the lights went out on the way back and it was returned to me apparently “fixed”. I’ve since the been on holiday in the vehicle through wales and had had intermittent electrical problems with the cruise control and radio not functioning.

This came to a head shortly after returning home when I had to again call the roadside assistance out as the car struggled to start and had multiple warnings on the dashboard. The roadside assistance diagnosis was a battery failure which makes complete sense given the nature of the problems I’ve had since owning the vehicle.

I called caffyns and questioned as to why this battery wasn’t highlighted given the issues and the physical appearance, the battery is bulging and has a raised positive post and the date stamp is the original battery! 2016
I was just informed it that it had passed their test. I found this explanation poor at best given its condition and date of manufacture it even states on multiple occasions on VW websites that batteries should be considered for replacement at five years, and yet it was sold to me with a eight yrs + old battery as an approved used vehicle?

I’ve now had to purchase a new battery and fit it at further cost and inconvenience to myself which is simply not good enough given it should never have been sold with the original battery fitted and then not even highlighted by the dealer during an inspection. It was offered I could have returned it the caffyns by recovery to fit a battery at my cost but I was told it would also invoke a diagnostic fee, Which given that they didn’t feel there was anything wrong with it under their care during the service I had no faith in it being remedied correctly and also felt it was insulting to be charged further for diagnosing some that should have been already highlighted and had been diagnosed now by VW roadside assistance.

To now add further frustration I’ve now found my divers seat has previously been repaired prior to my ownership and that repaired has been poor and is now failing as well, all of this now and I’ve met even had the vehicle for a year.

In summary I feel extremely let down and have little faith with the VW approved used car experience, it has clearly not been properly inspected or repaired prior to my purchase by vertu and brings the approved used vehicle experience into disrepute.

I have again already called vertu to tell them about the battery and I have had no contact from them directly I was told the manger is away and nothing could be down until his return which was supposed to be last week.

Having emailed and spoken to customers services at VW almost a month ago the only response vertu are giving today is that they are will to contribute to the price of the new battery.
Apparently the other issues and faults are unfortunate / not seen during preparation.

Well I’m sure this will be seen and I won’t be accepting the pitiful offer of contribution for something that shouldn’t have ever happened.

ID3 owners need to be aware of this

We have owned an electric ID3 for a year, whilst it is great to drive, although the computer is a bit dodgy, I feel our experience needs to be highlighted.
We recently drove to Stanstead airport from North Yorkshire allowing 2 hours extra re charging, which we needed, the infra structure in certain parts of the uk is extremely poor.
We went to the VW garage to get the price of this car to trade in on a new car to find it is now worth LESS than half of what we paid for it last year.
This is truly shocking.
Also we had to have new tyres fitted as the back ones were worn out - after only 7,500 miles this was also a shock, we have had 3 flat tyres over the last 12 months. It is therefore obvious that VW are selling these cars with tyres unfit for the job!
Needless to say we will not be buying another and feel very let down by VW

Don't be fooled by anything they say

Useless. I approached them for help with an issue I have with my VW Passat but after weeks of B/S from them and the dealership have got nowhere and the last email I recieved said " sorry we are unable to help but hope you continue to enjoy your VW Beetle" so clearly not read my emails or looked into anything just cut & paste replies. They are more interested in asking you to complete surveys and leave them a review regarding the service provided . Well the service I have recieved from the dealership and VW UK is the worst I have ever encountered , it really is shocking. All they are interested in is sales and if you have a problem that lies with them and not the customer you have no chance they close ranks . Lesson learnt , last VW I ever buy and I will be a lot of ££ out of pocket because of a manufacturers fault .

Do NOT buy a VW!

I’ve been a lifelong VW customer on and off. I’ve owned too many VWs to list over the last four decades. In 2015 - I walked away from VW after getting my fingers burned on a Tiguan following the VW diesel emissions scandal. Unfortunately for me - I was stupid enough to give them another chance last November when I purchased a VW ID4 for our family car.
I’m now the owner of a worthless and defective car. The car has spent almost as much time back at the dealer being repaired under warranty work than it has on my drive.
I would urge anyone thinking of buying a VW - especially a VW ID4 to search the internet for known faults on this car before buying one. I can honestly say that it is the worst car I have ever owned and VW should hang their heads in shame for being satisfied with this level of quality.
Within days of owning the car - all of the three main and widely publicised faults with the ID4 appeared on my vehicle. Those being:
(1) Drive Fault - this is an issue with the electrical system on the car that appears to be caused on days when there is a large drawdown of current from the battery - eg on cold mornings requiring heating and de-misting.
(2) Electric windows operating in the reverse sense - ie the switch is pressed in the up direction and the window goes down - and vice versa.
(3) Sensors such as parking sensors and collision avoidance sensors (known as Forward Assist in VW speak) randomly activating and then failing completely.
All the above is on top of a car with an utterly awful user interface and app that is completely unusable and worthless.
During our interaction with VW and their dealer network - the car has been back to the garage so many times I can’t even remember - the longest of which was for two weeks in one go. My experience is one of deliberate obfuscation of the problems with the car and a deliberate tactic by VW to pass the blame around between different companies falling under the VW Group UK’s umbrella and its dealers. For example - trying to pin the ‘drive fault’ issue on our home EV charger - which came close to costing me £1300 having a new one fitted were it not for an honest EV charger installer who categorically assured me the charger was not at fault and I would be wasting me money on a new one. For example - despite my PCP agreement ultimately being with VW Finance UK - part of the VW Group UK - VW saying my defective car made by VW wasn’t their problem and I needed to contact my finance company. The person who told me this wasn’t even aware that the letter head on his/her email stated part of the VW group.
A local dealer appears to have - for now at least - resolved the cars sensor issues. I can’t say that the drive fault has been fixed because the weather is currently warm and I can’t replicate the conditions the fault occurred in. The windows are a complete disaster. VW - or rather its representative (a dealer) has admitted the problem and that in the case of our car it CANNOT be fixed. They have stated that the problem appears to be a result of some sort of ‘obstruction’ - presumably in the mechanism/design of the window. Interestingly - they have now told us that there is a VW wide engineering bulletin on this (which I am not allowed to see) and there will be yes you guessed it (see other reviews below) “a software update” to fix this at some as yet unknown and unspecified time in the future. It’s hard to see how a software update would in any case fix an apparent issue caused by an “obstruction!”
So - we are now left with a worthless and defective car. It’s potentially dangerous in my view too. I don’t trust the sensors anymore, I’m deeply concerned about the drive fault reoccurring as potentially the worst case manifestation of this tells you to abandon the vehicle immediately due risk of fire. The widows are at best an annoyance at worst outright dangerous - when you drive on the motorway in the rain and the widows fully open at 70mph causing everything in the cabin to take flight - this is clearly not safe.
So VW - are you really saying this is the best you can do? Shame on you! I sincerely hope the lawyers are listening because I believe there is another class action suit in the making here. (I would imagine the diesel emissions one made a few lawyers quite wealthy!) You are peddling defective goods and you don’t seem to care at all about your customers or indeed your reputation. What has gone wrong with what used to be the world’s most trusted car company. You used to be a brand that was a benchmark in customer loyalty and quality.
I will NEVER buy another VW and I would strongly advise you not to either.
Meanwhile - if you’re listening VW - my VW ID4 is waiting on my driveway for you to remove it. I’ve given you enough chances to resolve it and you clearly can’t. I want the car gone and I want my deposit money back and I won’t rest until I get that sorted.

VW providing misleading information on website and don't care.

Do not believe what is written in the used car sales information given on the VW website.
Bought an ex demo VW ID4 GTX from a dealership in Solihull based on the listing hosted by VW UK which included a system called BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), fitted as standard equipment it said on the website. It is not, nor is it fitted as standard on the other 24 similarly aged ID4 GTXs listed on the VW website despite the VW website saying it is standard equipment. Over two weeks down the line and still I cannot get a response to my question, "Why are you listing as standard equipment something which is not fitted at all?" Customer Services are next to useless, promise to email and don't, promise to phone and don't.
To add insult to injury my 2022 ID3 Family which I traded in to the same dealer is listed on their website as having BLIS fitted as standard. Having driven the car for 20 months I can happily state that is is not fitted either as standard or as an option.

Terrible cars, terrible dealer network (Ireland).

After many happy years with Skoda I made the silly error last year of buying a new VW Arteon Shooting Brake 2.0TDI without doing my research on the company and dealerships first. If I had seen all the single stars on Trustpilot I would have shied away. The car has had fault after fault which they take days to diagnose and more days to fix, never a spare car, ignorant staff, pretend oil changes, major fault in engine at under 9k miles, timing belt and everything contaminated in burnt oil, they refuse to change the contaminated belts.

Love the cars but hate the company and dealerships

First point has to be made that we like VW’s. Had Golf’s, a Touareg, own a transporter and had a T-ROC. However their dealerships are appalling; namely Breeze (Poole) and Heritage. They talk to my wife like she is a dumb woman which she certainly isn’t. When test driving their attitude is chauvinist about driving and try and address me. She has been a bus driver and ambulance driver.

There attitude is also horrific with after sales service. We are currently having a nightmare with an ID.4 and it’s been a year to get it seen to. Problems still haven’t been rectified.

Again we love the cars but recommend you avoid

I had a horrible experience at VW…

I had a horrible experience at VW Watford Mr. B.B. He was in control of the whole conversation. He does NOT listen to my needs. Firstly, I said I wished to see first the car T-ROC, but he insisted that it could be done later. Secondly, I wished to have a higher purchased option, then Mr. B.B. salesman verbalised " Why do you want that " without explaining and showed frustration on his face. He also said before my visit that he would reimburse my petrol for travelling to VW Watford, but this is just a fantasy.
This salesman I believe has NO sympathy, is not a good listener, has poor communication skills, and only thinking about getting a sale. This horrible experience occurs March 08, 2024, at approximately 10;30 hours. I came early by 9 am expecting I would be seen earlier than my call time, but NO signs of Mr. B.B. even though he said that before me a customer did not turn up.
