Due to delays in getting the mortgage I had to move the appointment back twice, this was all done in a very pleasant way and I wasn't made to feel I was being a nuisance.
Everything went ahead very smoothly and I was sent a very detailed report.
Top class service!
The service I received was great from start to finish. I chose Walker Dunn mainly because they were local and I'm so glad I did. The very fist person I spoke to on the phone was really freindly and knowledgeable, i originally wanted a level 3 survey but was told I could only have a level 2 as i'm on a ground floor flat, i was concerned about this but was put at ease by the person on the phone, and was reasured the survey would be detailed enough and it absolutely was. I was then sent an example of how the report would look which put me more at ease. The booking process was really simple. The guy who came out to perform the survey Ed Stanley was absolutely first class, as a surveyor and a person. When he first arrived we had a conversation about my concerns which he adressed them all with honesty. His survey was so much more detailed than I thought it would be, and was received the very next day. He found things that were absolutely crucial for me to have adressed before my purchase, and has now give me so much more confidence about what I need to do before completion. The price of the survey has paid for itself multiple times over with the information I received, and was worth every penny. I can't compare with any other surveyors as this is the first survey I've ever had. But I do know I'll be going straight back to Walker Dunn if I ever need another survey in the future. I would like to thank Walker Dunn and Ed Stanley for there great service and help throughout this process. Thankyou so much!

I was able to speak directly to the surveyor and ask questions. He was very friendly, pleasant and had time for me unlike another company I'd previously used . They were cheaper aswell.

A mixed bag
This relates to a home survey for one house that we are selling and another that we are buying.
The surveyor in our case, Lynne, was prompt, professional and explanative. She also produced a report quickly that we believe reflects the reality here.
In our case, though, and with the house we are buying, all of the utilities are graded red (3). This is apparently because they are not tested by the surveyor as opposed to being in need of urgent rectification. This seems ridiculous and whilst it may be an industry standard, it would make more sense to simply say “not inspected”. Also, we were told that the house we are buying didn’t have the required building regulations approval, again graded red (3). It transpires that no such building regulations are required. That casts doubt on the credibility of not only the surveyor involved but the entire report.
A smooth process and thorough survey.
The whole process of having our Level 2 survey was smooth. Communication with ourselves and the vendor was good, efficient. The survey itself was extremely thorough and written in a logical way that was easy to digest. We would recommend Walker Dunn without hesitation.

I have given a 3 star review on the surveyor because i can-not give a 5 star review for a person i have never seen..!!. Also the survey rating should be changed, ie if you can not test something ie gas, electric do not mark it as a RED item requiring immediate / urgent attention, mark it as not tested.

A waste of money
Paid for a level 2 survey and identified specific areas of concern. These were not addressed and my complaint was ignored. It came across as a case of “you’ve paid your money up front and now you’ll get what we want.

Never brought a house before and they made the whole situation easy for me. They were very fast with the survey. They answered all my questions that I had. The report came back so quickly and it covered everything that made the purchase of our new home a lot less stressful. Would highly recommend them
