Hours of exams and assessments... for nothing.

You do hours and hours of exams, assessments and look for "promising" jobs and when you are finally accepted, you don't get anything. After one month and a lot of welcome e-mails, it's worse than a desert. And one day you are not authorized anymore to use their platform (just randomly, without a reason), so you write them to ask for explanation: no answers, they completely disappear. I wish there was a law that closes sites like this, playing with people hopes. Bah...

FRAUD

They make you complete assessments to see if you qualify for the job, but in reality they're just using people for free work. No matter how well you do, they never approve anyone. It's a scam!!!

Don’t waste your time with WeLocalize

I wouldn’t waste your time with WeLocalize. I applied for a few different jobs with them nearly over a month ago, which are still highlighted as “under consideration” in their official application portal, which is called Workday. After multiple, repeated attempts to contact their hiring team to inquire about next steps or just start a dialogue with any hiring team or manager, they have consistently ghosted me. Eventually somebody from their talent team replied to me and told me that I was unsuccessful in applying for a completely different job that I hadn’t applied for at all. Jobseekers don’t deserve this kind of bullshit ghosting and runaround, it’s demeaning for us and for them, completely incompetent. How they ever expect to build trust with clients, hiring companies and/or candidates is completely beyond me if they choose to behave like this, especially in the current economy. Unprofessional, infuriating and ultimately, quite pathetic. Don’t waste your time.

Stay away from Welo Data too!

Onboarding process at Welo Data mysteriously failed in an abrupt way after I had given away personal data and spent time answering lots of silly questions and completing ridiculous tasks. Don't waste your precious time.

Stay Away

This company may seem legit. But they seem to be fraudsters. I've tried a couple of applications with them and on the first page (which is demographics for some reason), whenever I hit submit, my application is rejected "says application failed". Don't bother contacting customer support, they never answer.

This company, if it is really legit, is very poorly run. Management doesn't seem to realize they have a broken hiring system and terrible UI.

It seems they must have a real bias towards certain people, as some do seem to get hired, but others are just left in the dust with no clue on why they where rejected (even before they could finished the application). Shame, Shame, Shame on Welo.

SCAMMERS

I strongly advise anyone considering opportunities with Welocalize / WeloData (or any of their related platforms) to proceed with caution.

I recently applied for the Pegasus – English (Nigerian) Audio Evaluator role (the job offer was sent directly to my email) and went through multiple stages of assessments that were presented as part of a legitimate hiring process. These included timed tests and detailed submissions, including indigenous language and cultural information, which required time, effort, and focus—just like a real exam setting. After successfully completing all assessment stages, I moved on to the final step of submitting my financial details and verifying my government ID through Trulioo—only for my application to suddenly be marked as “Application Failed,” without any clear explanation or proper closure, even after I sent a petition email.

I should have done my due diligence by checking reviews about them first. Looking through Trustpilot now and seeing similar complaints, it’s hard to ignore the pattern. What’s even more concerning is the lack of response to these negative reviews, which raises serious questions about accountability.
This experience was not only frustrating but disappointing. A significant amount of my time and effort went into completing those assessments under the impression that it was leading to a genuine opportunity. Situations like this make it feel like eager job applicants are being taken advantage of.

At the very least, there should be transparency and fairness in a process that demands this much from candidates. Right now, it honestly feels like practices like this should not be allowed to continue unchecked.

Waste of time

I worked on a job for Welo and after spending over 8 hours carefully working on it, I received an email that there were quality issues and that I wouldn't be paid, but they believe in me, review the guidelines and try it again! More free labor? No thank you! Prior to the round beginning, we were told in writing that if there were errors, we would have to correct them, not that we wouldn't be paid at all. Very unhelpful when they don't even tell you what the problem is. This screams scam to me. Free work and they just tell you it is unacceptable without giving reason. Don't waste your time.

Agism and sexism.

Received emails encouraging me to apply for map work. I answered three questions, revealing that I'm a 55 year old male living in California. On that basis, they failed me. So, agism & sexism seem to be rampant in this company.

Total waste of time

After taking around 30 hours of courses, and 8 hours exam, they came up with good news that I was approved. But after registering my financial information, they wrote they cannot move forward with my profile due to an unknown reason. This could be checked before the onboarding process to save 40 hours for me, but instead they give you some tasks to do for free and then deactivate your profile.

Scamming into upaid work

I was contacted with a role and when I passed all required tests (about 2 hours of my time) I never received any assignments. When I contacted the talent team, I was told there were no tasks available for me. Maybe next time. It feels like I already did the work for them for free. This is a scam and I advise everyone to stay away.

Stuck in Tax Verification Despite Providing Sensitive Data

I applied for the “Project Lynx - Audio Recording Transcriber - Turkish” role at Welocalize (Welo Data) and successfully completed multiple assessment stages, including language, culture, and marketing-related evaluations, as well as the AI interview.

As part of the process, I was required to submit sensitive personal information, including my ID number and photos of my ID (front and back), which I completed without any issues.

However, during the Tax Verification stage, when I entered my ID number as instructed in the guidelines, I received the following error:
“Thank you for your interest in Welo Data. Unfortunately, we are unable to proceed with your application at this time.”

I created a support ticket and, starting from March 2, 2026, I had multiple email exchanges with M. P. (Welocalize Talent). They requested my ID photo again, which I provided, but there has been no progress since then.

The only response I keep receiving is:
“Our internal team is actively working on investigating and resolving this issue. At this stage, no action is required from your side. We will update you as soon as the issue is fixed or if any additional information is needed.”

Even when I followed up again on April 2, 2026, I received the exact same response. I also suggested possible solutions and requested a manual tax verification, but no action has been taken. Although resolving the issue manually would have been possible, this has been ignored. It is clear that the fact that the issue has not been resolved for over a month is not of much concern to them.

As a result, I am unable to start the project even though it is active.

If there is a known issue in this process, why are candidates asked to submit and process sensitive personal data such as ID information and photos?

This experience has been frustrating, time-consuming, and lacks transparency.

I was invited to apply to a job

I was invited to apply to a job, based on my location and resume. When I did apply, the site told me I was not able to apply to the job. I send an email to support to know what went wrong. After a week I recieved as a reply a basic rejection letter??? I contacted support once more, asking if they could please answer my question, as I was not even able to apply to the job.

Response in short: " We have no idea, and blocken your account. You can't reply on jobs in the future. Never seen such an unprofessional company

These people are SCAMMERS

These people are SCAMMERS. BE CAREFUL. I was approached by a person called Brett Erickson regarding a translation project (50 pdf pages worth 2,000 Euros). I had been approached by Welocalize a couple years earlier about a position in the company, so I didn't really consider that this project could be a scam. A couple of weeks into the project I asked this person to send me his corporate email (until that time he was only sending me emails from his personal gmail account). He gave some reason why he couldn't do it, which of course I didn't believe. It was at this time that I started to get suspicious. So, I tried calling at least four of the company's offices (London, New York, Thessaloniki, Italy) and no one would answer the telephone (red flag). We would also communicate via WhatApp, where he sent me a picture of himself driving through the English countryside, a picture of him at the airport before his trip to the USA, a picture of hism driving through the USA countryside (red flags). As I dug deeper, I finally found this webpage where other people posted their problems (some people also had been assigned a similar project to my own: 50 pages, 2000 Euros). I sent him the link to his gmail account, and called him out on this problem. Miraculously, from that point forward, I couldn't send him any other emails. They would always return back to him. I stopped all communication with him and demand that he first pay me and then he would get his translation. Obviously, he never contacted me again, because, from what I have understood, all this company wants you to do is register or subscribe to them at a cost. THAT'S THE SCAM. They dangle (in my case) a translation project. You think that you will get paid but then they say first register and subscribe (which you do at a cost. Thankfully, in my case it never reached that point. I just lost about 2 weeks of my time. GOOD LUCK everyone!!!

Unpaid Training Disguised as an Exam

Welo Data calls it an “exam,” but it clearly functions as job training. After you finish the exam, there is no training afterward, the exam is the training. 4+ hours unpaid.

I spent over six hours across two days…

I spent over six hours across two days taking this exam, putting in maximum effort and paying attention to every single detail. However, despite following the guidelines with extreme care, I did not pass. The evaluation criteria are so incredibly strict and specific that the entire process feels designed to make you fail, rather than to actually test your skills. It is very disappointing to dedicate so much professional time to such a difficult and opaque process without any positive outcome. The difficulty level is simply unrealistic
