WGA, Occupy a building in quite a prominent position overlooking market square Ely, you would therefore be forgiven for thinking that WGA offer a service which matches their imposing facade, however, from my experience of 3 x instructing them to act for me, nothing could be further from the truth, and from of their inactions/actions, they have proven to be a very difficult and expensive experience.
Looking at the 3 x I have instructed WGA, it is obvious to see a pattern emerging....of a company which over stretches itself time and again, I suspect due to greed in not wanting to turn work away, solicitors unable to cope with the workload coupled with a company which is unable to say to its cliental that it is over capacity to take on any further work...
My first instruction with them to conveyance the purchase of my land ended up with the developer threatening to re-market the land due to the amount of time it was taking for the process to progress.
The second time was not much better, I found the solicitor difficult to contact and when i did, only to find that nothing had been done.
The third time was when I was charged 2.5k for delaying the process (stopping the process due to issues on site), I refused to pay this fee and hense the process was stopped.
WGAs, solicitors/staff are friendly enough however this belies the fact that they blatantley over charge and when challenged over the costs they become super defensive, (normally a sign of guilt)and the service is painfully slow. The solicitors are often difficult to contact to discuss issues and seem to spend most of their time on 'annual leave' and then passing the case onto a paralegal who has been given very little information about the case.
It seemed to me that WGA waited until I was quite a way into conveyance process and then decided to over charge me believing that I would just simply pay up due to being so far into the process?
I pulled out of the deal due to their over charging, and due to this I lost £1750 in fees and a valuation fee, I consider that this is money which WGA has effectively stole from me.
I have used another group of solicitors for my conveyancing who have been absolutely spot on and a breath of fresh air compared to the painful experience that is WGA.

Was recommended a lady .

Was recommended a lady .! Over priced £360.00 for a appointment should of been £268.00 .+ vat on government Web site ! This was financial hearing.given not helpful advice I was made to feel very upset.and waste of my hard earn cash.. went there for help come away with heart ache.plus the receptionist wanted me to pay £360.00 to look at my files! I said that's included in the appointment price not paying £700.00 for appointment. And was agreed the town when I got there had to drive to Ely..so out of pocket .

1* is to much …

1* is to much after leaving a domestic violence marriage my ex agreed to pay half of the solicitors fees which he didn’t I was charged over £4000 and ended up getting nowhere I made a complaint and was told it wasn’t there fault it was my husbands fault obviously only care about taking money from vulnerable people

Still waiting for them to do their job…

Still waiting for them to do their job since June 2021.
I even contacted the director Chris Dewey only to get a sarcastic arrogant reply.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM
The worst part is they couldn't care less about the problems they are causing my family.

£500 wasted! Avoid!

Appalling service from Dereham branch regarding an employment matter. We paid £180 for a 22 minute telephone consultation and one draft email to my husband's workplace after he'd been treated appallingly with grievances upheld. The solicitor from WGA Dereham branch wholeheartedly supported his claim against the workplace. When his workplace said they wouldn't enter into negotiations the solicitor withdrew support and basically stated to let it go. We paid an additional £300 for 2 x 1 paragraph emails. My husband's mental health is declining due to his workplace, yet additionally he's been waiting 8 days for a response from this solicitor. An absolutely appalling practice and service. I'm taking this matter further. An utter waste of time and money. Avoid.

I wish we'd have read the Trustpilot reviews here which support my review before paying £500 for very little.

Very poor, best to avoid WGA.

I appointed WGA for conveyance work. The task was quite simple, purchase an apartment with no PX and no mortgage. Communication was hard work via email. WGA would not accept my phone calls, always busy and when they sent me an email asking to call them, still busy. WGA missed the deadline to complete the purchase as they failed to obtain an OS2 search which costs £6 and is valid for 6 weeks. Eventually the sale completed, only for WGA to have requested more money than required. In summary, very poor service, WGA can’t use a phone or calculator.

Beware being charged even before you speak.

Charged for inquiry about can you help? 10 minutes of me saying "Not a will issue"
They said yes, I will pass you on to litigation. No mention that I would be invoiced for this phone call.
I had a phone call from a solicitor from the Ely office Kelsey Unsworth who fixated on wills. I was alarmed before this meeting that the solicitor was fixated on this an not my enquiry. I was sent a a transcript of the meeting proving I was not happy with response to my inquiry made.

A terrible company

A terrible company. Lots of pointless e mails designed to be as expensive as possible.

I deal with lots of solicitors over the years and these are truly very very bad!

Had to contact the legal ombudsman before having a settlement from Ward Gethin Archer because of there own failings.
