This is a brilliant idea. The issue which led to losing a star is that, since it’s release I have promoted this to anyone who will listen…how am I rewarded? By yet another paywall, my navigation optio... Voir plus

The future

Excellent App. I’ve used it quite a few times to describe a location. It’s the future of addresses.

This app's a Life Saver!

Since I discovered this app it's been a life-saver: literally! I live in the Lake District, and one of the first times I used it was to call in Mountain Rescue to a walker who'd fallen 50 feet down a ravine and dislocated his shoulder. It's way better than a postcode: my son lives down a rural road where the postcode takes you down a parallel (but wrong) road: using What3Words lands delivery drivers at his gate. It's an app I recommend to so many people as it's just so accurate and, in many cases, the ONLY way of getting to exactly where you need to be!

What a fab idea

What a fab idea! So easy to locate things using what3words. Our friends in Crete, Greece use this app as there is no post code for property and trying to arrange deliveries , etc was a nightmare but not anymore

A Must-Have App for Travel

We sometimes travel to foreign countries. It's frightening to be lost in a country where you don't speak the language. Now, whenever we leave the hotel, we mark the location on What Three Words App so we are confident we can return.

Fairly useless in practice

Signed up ages ago, but it hadn't remembered me. Had to do it all again.
I saved my home location but when I logged in again immediately there was nowhere to find it, so I had to faff about yet again to get the words. The words keep changing anyway. I find some word combinations easier to remember than others, & I find it hard to remember if there's a plural or not. Do I need a fullstop in-between when quoting it to someone online? I don't know. A courier suggested I add it for greater chances of my parcels being delivered as the postcode pointer isn't accurate but their system won't let me put even the nearest possible relevant one in, so as not to be misleading, as they say it's "too far from their dropped pin marker"! As that is clearly wrong & this is designed to help correct it, it's pointless if their system won't even accept it, even though they've asked for it! Usual 'computer says "no" nonsense'! Sigh!
Pointless, particularly in a hurry - & when else are you going to use it?

In my job and hobbies

In my job, I send engineers out all over the country to fix/maintain kitchen equipment. Across big sites (universities or hospitals fx) this I really helpful as there’s often one postcode for multiple buildings. It saves so much time and confusion. Also use it for scout camps, easy for the parents to identify drop off/collection points for their scouts!

Spent the day trying to find accurate…

Spent the day trying to find accurate locations in a park only to find the website only gives within 5m on consecutive multiple attempts. It also does not load quickly enough to be of any use thus burning through the battery. The lag time of website and gps location is rubbish also. The fact it then directs you to Google map for a 10m direction that is inaccurate is similarly annoying. In addition I had to put the three words in multiple times just for it to start registering. Tried to copy and paste only to get a continuous circle going round and round. I have come away with an extremely bad impression of this website and the ability for The whole three words to accurately identify a location within 1 or 2 m

Don't use this Service !!!

Don't use this Service !!!
Too easy to miss hear a word combination.
No possible idea how to find a spot near to the one your in without the internet and a look up to their proprietary database.
They've already started charging for access to the system. The charges will broaden and increase as they get greedy and or have shareholders to please.

UNLESS they make the database public / opensource then there's always going to be a point where they get greedy and monetize the system.

There's a much better system called What 2 Numbers (ie longitude and latitude) advantages - its free to everyone forever. you can adjust accuracy yourself just be using more or less digits. you can tell without the internet if your near another location and which direction its in. you can use it on a paper map, etc etc etc there's literally hundreds of reasons that lat lon is a better system.

contrary to what their marketing would have you believe the emergency services don't want it either. as there's been countless errors in phrases and sent ambulances, helicopters, etc etc to the wrong location.
