Do business with them at your own peril
I have been with them for the past 7 years and they seemed to be alright, fantastic if I'm being honest, during the first two years. Then I stopped receiving renewal notices for some domains I owned. It was selective; notices for the renewal of regular domains came in on time but top eye-catching domain renewal notices never came. I only got notified when they expired and I immediately lost them. When I try to buy them back, they are on sale as premium domains on other sites. The first time this happened I thought it was a one-off but this is the third time it is happening and they are a fraud. The second time it happened it became a premium domain for a year or two before I was lucky to buy it back through Cloudfare at a regular price. These guys are finding ways to rip people off. I have moved over 12 domains away from them and after reading the reviews here I'll be transferring the rest by month's end.
EDIT: I did a further investigation and all the domains they took from me are being resold by Hugedomains.com. I do not know if they are an affiliate but something's really fishy.
they asked me for a lot of money and I…
they asked me for a lot of money and I came to the conclusion that I would stop depositing money into the platform and report to the internet crime complaint center and send a dm to their Twitter handle

Been with them over 10 years and they will not remove a charge that they tacked onto my account due to their email system not working properly.
They did not send emails to renew any of my domains this year. The domains went down. I contacted Whois and they would not remove the $80 charge that they tacked onto one of my domains. I have used this company for over 10 years. I have always received a renewal email until this year. I am currently asking for the rest of the money in my account to be refunded, but I have a feeling they won't even do that. I am contacting the people I have referred to them to warn them of my experience. I will be renewing my domains elsewhere from now on. Very disappointing that over 10 years of good history and referrals is not enough to warrant fixing one domain just one time.
WHOIS trying to through their reputation away?
This is not the first time that this has been reported. People search for a domain and when they see you are after it they increase the price exponentially. That just happened to me when the price went & $ 6.88 to $ 700.00 in 4 hours. I have the screen shots to prove that. And not only that, within minutes of that, GODADDY offered it for free but at at $1,200 on renewal. So GODADDY has been given permission to monitor inquiries to WHOIS. What a sorry little mess. WHOIS is working very hard to throw away the credibility they so carefully built up. Now any business advisor will tell you that what you are doing is a fail-save method of going out of business. Change course or hit the rocks. Do it now. People like me know how to make you famous. I am in a Government course coaching 21 businesses and reputation is on our agenda for this week. I will definitely spread the warning about WHOIS until they retract this brazenly despicable business practice. All those people need to buy domains for their new business and they will navigate around you. Also, we will apply to ICANN to remove your privileges. A review that is also a cease and desist. WOW, you sure know how to generate responses with your business practices.
They will shut you down without notice or reason!
Shut all our sites off for no reason, they just said we violated a rule, but could not tell us what it was. we were not given any notice, they just shut everything down. Support was worthless. They cannot figure out what the problem is. All the sites have been down for over 24 hours without any resolution. What terrible service. You would think if they shut you down they would know why, but they don't.
Not What I expected from a professional Company
So far; I have paid for hosting of my new site and still it's not up and running after several weeks. first issue is it did not assign the A Records or the AAA Records... no IP not on the web being hosted. Next the SSL would not install. Took their Techs 2 weeks to correct and it's still not 100% functioning. I can now see my site but when i ask people to check it they say they can't see it. i try to install Plugins and they fail with Error message "Check your Server Logs and contact Server Administration." This tells me that their service is NOT streamlined for their customer base and the price for their non-existing service is unbearable. Why should a pay for a Service I am not receiving.
Worse provided I've tried so far
In the last few months this service has been interrupted 3 times for over 24 hours, it's completely unprofessional and careless leaving businesses without the option of running them properly. Losing money, SEO costs on a daily basis which will not be reimbursed of course by whois, employees without work for over a day several times and the only answer they give is an apology which doesn't make up for my losses. Taking all my domains and clients out of this service as soon as it resumes as of yesterday 4-22-22 went down and as of today Saturday 4-23-22 is still down.
UI nightmare
80s called; they want their website back.
The UI of that thing is unbearable, and to add insult to injury, the most commonly available page is "Unknown error".
Took me 2 months to renew my website (by a bout of luck I could pay for it today, the Unknown Error screen must've been unavailable or something), and I cannot print the invoice for it now.
I cringe every time I have to use that website.
Fake reviews
Fake reviews
I am a 5 year customer at WHOIS.com and have had 0 problems, They are a company of honesty and years of loyalty, All these reviews I see about defrauding is all fake because for the people that don't know, WHOIS doesn't actually run themselves, They are managed by EIG which is the same company that runs hostgator and big hosting providers. And So its very hard to believe that those reviews are honest. WHOIS is a great host I use their shared hosting and domain services, Any time I had an issue I've always had use their support live chat
"WHois" this company thier services is…
"WHois" this company thier services is nothing but a scam.
A couple of weeks ago I was looking for a new domain for a website I was building. When one there afficliates were recommended to me as a great and cost effective choice. So I purchased the service using coupon code from the referral, a couple of days after the service was purchased I began to receive Calls from scammers, marketing companies and solicitors offering me services. It would have been fine if it was 1 or 2 calls but the calls were constant. morning, afternoon and night I was harrased with calls by several companies. After sometime I couldn't take this constant harassment anymore so I asked one of the callers where they got my information from. And they explained that it was from Whois the affiliates hostiger. I was very surprised by this as I was unaware that the information that I used to sign up for the account would be public and available for anyone to use. After contacting hostiger the service provider, I was told that WHOIS was posting my informtion and it was mandatory. At this point I was very upset because this was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase. I asked them to cancel all my services and remove my information. But even after the cancelation of the services they refuse to remove my information and said that they could not refund me for the domain which was causing my information to be public. So I decided to reach out to WHOIS directly. And then ingot the sock of my life, they not only refused to take down my information they tried to sell me protection that they claim would hide my information from the scammers that were calling me.
If you are reading this please beware sometimes a good price isn't what it seems don't purchase any services from any of the officials of WHOIS (there affiliates are listed on the botto of the web page) Because If you are not scam of your money, you no longer no longer have peace and will have to either pay them to hide information that they posted without your consent or you would need change all your contact information. Which includes your address your phone number your email address etc.
This whole thing is an elaborate scam please don't make my mistake.
These people are a bunch of scam…
These people are a bunch of scam artists and liars who are pretending to be affiliated with ICANN to defraud users out of credit card information without providing any information. Beware!
Wish I'd read these reviews before…
Wish I'd read these reviews before dealing with Whois.com - a shady operation running out of a shed in the back streets of Malaysia. Do not trust them with your domain names - you can lose your domain and website. Like other reviewers have said, their support is a joke. They offer no support and take days to reply.
What a scam
What a scam. This site mines potential web names! I've searched numerous misspelled and abbreviated contractions as names and it comes back as "available" for some outrageous fee, the latest two $2080 and $8000! Last year I searched one that was available for, I believe $4.00 which I delayed on and two weeks later it was available for $800!
TOTALLY SCAM AND FRAUD!!
TOTALLY SCAM AND FRAUD!!
I applied to register my favourite domain. Paid by Paypal etc., after then it shows a while the registering is in progress, after 2 days no record or information found about anything anymore. I wrote several emails and after days they responsed and pretend, I did not follow any of their conditions. However most important issue is just the following day the domain was registered by another company, offered for sales to a much higher price. In principle they trap you given them your request and information and aftr that they try to squeeze out the most of you. Similar was reported by another person… This is totally fraud, be aware and never ever request anything by them or give them any of your private information!
Pure harassment, extortion and abuse of consumer
Horrible. I never authorized release or sale of my contact information. This never happened befor me on other providers. I bought domains through BlueHost and next thing i know they releases my contact info and i get hit with constant callas, emails, text from around the world. It interrupts nonstop. Calls start at 6:30am. Then even after you go crazy trying to contact and block, it still doesn’t stop. They want you to pay them to not release your info. SCAM. They won’t block posting on WHOIS without you paying. They won’t give you a refund. Scammed completely scammed and robbed. Take your business elsewhere and don’t be fooled by those tech sites saying how great it is. fraud and scam. Then BlueHost won’t give yourself money back and says it’s not then releasing your info. So you contact WHOIS that tells you they are just the database and you have to pay or contact fastdomain. Shuffle, hide. Game. Fraud. Scam.
The worse CS every!!
This is the worse company I’ve every been associated with. I’m blind and have special programs that help me on my computers. I need support with my Domain and my program would not read their support chat table.
I request support via a phone call. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I WAS BLIND AND NEEDED SOME SUPPORT. Support said I’d have to call their support center in India.
At this point i decided to move my domain, now they are making me jump through hoops. I truly wish i would have looked at there reviews before reg my domain with them.
Do not trust whois.com for domain search
Really bad experience. I searched for a domain and it was available at a normal low price, but didn't buy it at that moment. Next day I tried and it was categorized as premium at more than 2000$!
Too much coincidence in just a day.. Stay away from this website. Domain name front running!
Pitiful Renewal Process
It’s 2020. Somehow Whois doesn’t utilize automatic renewal which seems designed to lure people with good domains, let them expire, and then resell them. Shame on me for not checking the email that was connected to my account, but shame on Whois for such an embarrassing renewal process (you upload credits rather than your card just sinking apparently). I can now choose a different domain that doesn’t match my YouTube and published book, or purchase my own domain idea from a price gouger for nearly $1,300 because it didn’t automatically renew at $9.88. I’m simply trying to organize my information for students and parents as I move to online teaching due to school closures during this Coronavirus pandemic. So glad to find out there are classy organizations like this one, where I thought my domain was safe as I pursued goals with hopes of eventually bringing all of my ideas/work together. Not the case as my domain sits unused price gouger purgatory. Sweet.
Constant failures with their payment…
Constant failures with their payment processor. You pay to renew domains, the payment processor gives an error and you end up spending days trying to contact their support and get the payment credited to your account. So sick of this happening every year. I am moving my domains away from this terrible register.
DON'T USE THEM.
