We have been using Hemel Opticians since we moved to this area 20 years ago. They have an extensive range of frames available, and we have always found their service exceptional. As a family firm they are very friendly and helpful, which is not often the case with large national chains.

We have no reservations about recommending them

I was seen by Monika, along with her very nice colleague. The effort they put into taking care of my checkup for my eyesight and detection of glaucoma was done so in such a professional manner. The conclusion they had determined was so relieving that it was a very positive comfort for a 74 year old heart patient who finds it difficult to leave one’s house without aid at this time. This visit brought a lot of comfort and I would like to praise the professionalism and work ethic shown by these two lovely people, which is beyond any quality words I can use to describe their appraisal - except to say that they have an amazing professional approach. Once again I am very grateful for them completing the tests and comforting me ensuring that everything was okay. I would definitely recommend this team to anyone who needs to be seen and may struggle to leave their home due to their health conditions. They were swift, caring and very friendly throughout the whole visit and I look forward to being seen by them for future visits. Thank you once again to this great team!

My elderly mother is housebound. The team from A1 attended and completed all of the tests she would have previously received at Moorfields.
They arrived on time as agreed, friendly and professional.
The booking process was easy and responses to emails were almost instant.

Huw and the team are wonderful! Had an issue with my eye that i didnt know needed urgent attention. My optician referred me here and I was seen the next day! 2 years on, I'm still here getting treated like royalty everytime I go! They give an honest opinion, when I choose a new pair of specs and when they arrived I was given, along with my new glasses...a free refillable glass cleaner spray, hand sanitiser, credit card size copy of my prescription(in case I needed replacements urgently), keyring, pen and some sweeties!...what a lovely touch ❤️

Monika was extremely polite, kind and helpful. My mother is 90 years old with failing eyesight, but Monika made every effort to find the perfect glasses and other visual aids.
My mother was close to giving up on reading or watching TV, but the A1 team really worked hard to restore her vision and zest for life. I am very happy to recommend Monika and A1 Optician.

A1 Opticians exist for the housebound. Monika had sophisticated optician's equipment and an extensive selection of frames to choose from. I was so impressed with Monika's professional expertise, wise advice and speedy efficiency. I felt Monika knew in advance the issues my disabilities would mean both for an eye test and choosing new frames and lenses - and had workarounds ready! I was impressed Monika had an assistant with her which made the process much easier. I am very grateful and shall recommend A1 Opticians to housebound friends!

Monika visited us at home as my wife is unable to walk very far. A very friendly person and very professional.

This is an amazing service. My dads a stroke victim and as I'm unable to drive, being able to have an optician come to him during this time was great! Monika was very sweet and was really helpful and I'd definitely recommend this service to anybody who is housebound or unable to make it out.

Fantastic Service, I had cause to contact A1 Opticians when my 97yr old auntie finally agreed to have her eyes tested. From the first contact via the telephone to the eye examination everything was so easy, much needed when Auntie is quite a difficult character! Monika conducted a thorough eye examination for Auntie in the comfort of her chair and reassured her throughout. Supplied her with a brilliant magnifier with a light enabling her to enjoying reading once again. Thank you, I would definitely recommend A1 Opticians.

I had great pleasure for being serviced by this optician. I am disabled person, who is currently constantly lying down in bed, so I was very concerned, how I will do my eye test. Especially in the covid time. My worries were completely unnecessary as You can get eye test during home visit! And is totally for free of charge! This was very nice surprise for me.
If You looking for fully profesional help in nice atmosphere and with good manners - this is perfect address. Highly recommended.

A1 Optician - provided an excellent service for my 93 year old mother. It was so useful having a home visit. The eye exam was very comprehensive and the staff so friendly and reassuring. Monika continues to offer an excellent service for both my elderly Mum and Aunt. She has lots of understanding and patience dealing with those who are hard of hearing or dementia as I n the case of my Aunt.

Monika was patient and kind with my Dad who suffers with dementia. Due to lack of mobility it is difficult to get him to the optician so A1's service is perfect. Thank you for providing this service and making life so much easier!

Monika was totally professional and made my stepfather at ease while she tested his vision. It was really great to have a company that not only does home examinations, but also supplies a large selection of frames to choose from should the need arise.
