Utterly appalling

Utterly appalling. Something went wrong late last year and the whole thing has gone into chaos. My advisor quit without notice and I wasn't informed until, after many emails, I called to talk to him. Since then I have had eight different advisors none of whom has ever replied to an email and then just disappeared. The latest from August has also disappeared into, what you are told when you call, is a meeting that appears to have gone on since late August, Now when you call the UK office you get a weak sounding person "I'm called George" who knows nothing and "is a trainee advisor". MY ADVICE AFTER 4.5 YEARS WITH THEM IS CHOOSE ANOTHER INVESTMENT ADVISOR. I AM NOW DEALING WITH MY INVESTMENT COMPANY DIRECTLY.

Find another provider

I can only reccomend this company if you really want to see any gains in capital greedily taken in charges, you like to spend hours on the phone, trying to speak to someone, have the blame for any wrongdoings promptly shifted to STM, and have your emails totally ignored.
Like many other people here, my financial advisor left. He/she (I want to protect their identity) called to say that Abbey Wealth was seriously understaffed, putting constant pressure on advisors who had no choice but to resign. Their clients were suffering because no-one was looking after them, and the clients' fees were of the greatest importance, not a tailored portfolio to suit the client.
Trying to get your hands on your own money is near impossible!
I belive that AW is in serious trouble.

Communication & Clarity of date Change

I have been advised directly by Abbey Wealth that they changed their quarterly review to annual review in August 2023, however this notification was only confirmed after I asked why my quarterly review hadn’t taken place for sometime,

This information was never advised to me personally, however various individuals have advised to me that this was not actually the case & in fact the review change was declared in December 2023.

Can any individual advise me when Abbey Wealth advised them of the change from quarterly review to annual review?

I’ve now waited over a year for my review & have had no direct contact by any financial advisor working directly for Abbey Wealth’s Spanish office.

I will leave it to others discretion on using their services but communication which many appear to suffer should be paramount when choosing to invest one’s money needs to seriously considered along with any major changes to the service that is provided.

I am very satisfied with the work and communications I have had with Abbey over the years and looking at the reviews from some people I would say that this is NOT a good representation of Abbey as a whole.
Catherine Ross and her team are doing an exceptional job over coming the additional requirements and requests from the third parties the delays they are experiencing, although frustrating, the team do a great job and the advice I have been given over the years has been invaluable, I am extremely happy.
Keep up the good work you have my support.

Sharp decline in service.

After 8 years with Abbey Wealth I requested the surrender of my policies from Utmost, where Abbey had placed them. I informed my adviser, Christian Holbrook, of this in a phone conversation on June 10. I received forms to complete and Abbey supposedly forwarded these to Utmost. Since then, nothing. I have not received my funds, nor notification of such, and I no longer get a reply from Abbey or Utmost to my mails. Christian is the third adviser I had at Abbey - maybe there’s a reason for this? Whatever, my patience is running out and professionalism demands at the very least assistance and a reply from Abbey. I wonder even if this is a scam. Perhaps I should contact the fraud squad? Five weeks on and no response from anyone. The Abbey service is in sharp decline.

Do not use this firm.

I am not sure what is happening with this firm but I think people need to be very, very careful as I don't think they are operating like a responsible pension advisor.
Why do I say this?
Firstly, my advisor left the firm and they failed to advise me. I tried to contact my advisor sending 2 emails to finally be told of his departure, although they got his name wrong.
Secondly, after the above 2 people contacted me by email effectively advising me that everything was ok but that I would not now have an advisor but I would be dealt with by a central advisory service ( how could they possibly know about my personal circumstances).
Thirdly, after the above I sent a request for help in reducing my charges ( as had been suggested by my departed advisor ) and to date have not received a response and it is now about 2 months.
The final straw was this week I received a dealing instruction which had not been discussed with me and was not requested by me. I rejected the request but what are they doing?
Do not use this firm they have no interest in your pension fund or you.

Dear Mr Francis
You are of course entitled to your opinion but there are some factual inaccuracies included in your post that I would like to address.
Since acquiring Abbey Wealth in 2022, the new CEO has placed significant emphasis on maintaining the integrity of our regulatory licences and we take all our responsibilities seriously.
Seriously enough to respond rapidly to the letter sent to you earlier this month, and ccd to us, by your pension provider. Their instructions were quite clear, and our servicing team acted on those instructions. To be clear, the need for a dealing instruction was brought to your attention by the pension provider and was initiated by us for your convenience.
For his own reasons, your previous adviser had left without providing any handover nor any meaningful updates to the Abbey Wealth systems - and while some might surmise this was a deliberate attempt to cause difficulties for former colleagues and confusion for former clients - it did mean that a full review of your portfolio by your new adviser was required to identify whether lower cost pension options were available.
And finally, I did contact you in April to inform you of your previous adviser's exit, and the interim arrangements in place while a replacement adviser was recruited and onboarded. I also confirmed a number of upgrades available to you including:
* The introduction of a new in-house professional investment management service with tailored strategies to deliver your preferred balance of growth and security.
* Greater regulatory protections and control with the governance of our board of directors and oversight of one of the most powerful financial regulators in the world.
* Personal attention of our expert team, providing specialist advice in pensions, trust and estate planning and investment expertise from highly qualified and experienced financial advisers.
* Extended opening hours to provide greater flexibility and convenience for you.
Abbey Wealth believed these changes were in your best interests. I understand that you have now made alternative arrangements for the management of your pension investment.
Yours sincerely. Vesper France

Avoid Abbey Wealth, no financial or customer service

I can no longer recommend Abbey Wealth. My advisor did not attend a pre-arranged quarterly review call in early April-2024, so I chased that day and again 17-April-2024 ... with no response. I escalated to the CEO Mr France on 19-April-2024 (having heard that my advisor and others had resigned from Abbey Wealth), no response so I chased the CEO 30-April-2024. I received a response from the Head of Client Services which said in summary that there were no longer personal advisors but that we would work with a pool of people.

At this point I read recent Trustpilot negative reviews and noted they had moved from a rating of 5 down to 4 (currently trending down, 3.7). I responded asking for a new quarterly review call and clarification of my termination options but with no response, so chased again on 13-May-2024. Since then I have had no written or verbal communications from the company. It is clear they do not value clients.

I have removed Abbey Wealth from managing my portfolio and am allocating to a new financial advisor.

Dear Mr McDonald. Thank you for your feedback. Something is clearly amiss. I wrote to you on18 April to confirm a number of changes designed to improve the service we offer and confirmed the departure of your adviser. Access to a pool of advisers was an interim measure. We have in fact recruited country specific advisers to focus on the financial planning and advice needs of clients in the countries they have chosen to live and work and I have just signed off the communication to introduce that adviser to you.
I have checked our records and the last correspondence from you was dated 30 April and our response was sent the same day. If we have missed further correspondence, I apologise most sincerely.
It is obviously your decision who you work with and It has been a privilege to work with you. Your previous adviser's exit was designed to create disharmony and dischord for both us and you and we regret the inconvenience caused.
If you are willing, we would welcome the opportunity to regain your trust with the qualified, experienced and regulated adviser who has all the necessary permissions to advise you on your investments. Kind regards. Vesper France

They have a tight grip on my money

Last Tuesday, my interest wallet got credited, but can I withdraw it? Nope! I sent them an urgent request to pull out some money for my kid's tuition, and they totally ghosted me. If it weren't for the speedy withdrawals from my investments with echelonis elitus, my daughter would've sit out another year. Now, that's a company I can trust.

Not recommended

Not recommended. Building on comments by others my own personal experience of investing a large lump sum pension 8 years ago is one of no growth and capital erosion due to lock in periods, high fees, costs, charges, investment portfolio recommendations and changes, and financial markets. AbbeyWealth is registered as an insurance agent and make € commissions on a limited choice of insurance company products sold. In my view they are more interested in in making money for them out of your money with no risk whilst you take all the risk in their finance products, recommendations and the markets. Like many other clients I had changes in advisor and have since taken out my pension sum and gone elsewhere. Like many other clients. I know advisors changed and left and staff have left too. I also still have an ongoing complaint unresolved after 12 months. Communications have been ok as other comments yet ultimately it is the financials which speak loudest. So the advice remains to take time to shop around , take true independent advice and ensure all fees, charges etc are clear and transparent. MNH.

I am extremely dissatisfied with Abbey…

I am extremely dissatisfied with Abbey Wealth's service. They delayed with instructions to arrange a regular payment with my pension fund manager (not for the first time), and my adviser, and the senior adviser with whom I previously dealt with a similar complaint before, have both left without informing me. I've been told by a competitor (hear-say) that Abbey have lost a lot of staff? Now I have no adviser appointed, and my pension manager is witholding funds despite an approved asset sale instructed to cover the withdrawal, because of fee-related issues (so I am told by Abbey), not previously advised to me (ie. They are sitting on my money now in cash and won't release it). I have received no response to my inquiries about whom I should approach at a senior level in Abbey to deal with this serious neglect of duties. I urge CEO Victor France to address these issues immediately. This poor level of service from Abbey Wealth is not apparently uncommon, and an inquiry I posted to an AI-chatbot query advised me to be aware of "administrative problems" at Abbey Wealth, and AI is not tainted by emotion as perhaps I am, as all my direct debits are bouncing as I type! Due to non receipt of my own funds from my pension fund manager due to the incompetence of Abbey Wealth as my adviser, I am incuring serious problems to maintain daily commitments to other creditors/service providers. Please take the time to reply Victor, personally, as I don't wish to complain to the poor girl in the back-office who has been lumbered with my case file, and has no knowledge of my past arrangements nor instructions to my now absent adviser, nor has a relationship with my pension fund manager in Malta about my case. She has asked me to contact them direct, which I think inappropriate as Abbey is my appointed adviser/representative on my Pension Account. Nevertheless collective fee collection (linked to % of original investment value) is a top priority to all it seems, despite may I say that the value of my policy has continued to fall (below original investment value) over a 6-year period of investment advice, and now is likely to have to be surrendered (after another bout of fee paying). At least financial advisers and managers don't have to worry about poor performance, unless a medium like trustpilot is used effectively to accurately report matters that might affect their reputation?

Its fantastic to have Catherine Ross…

Its fantastic to have Catherine Ross back at Abbey Wealth. I started investing with Abbey Wealth the same year as Catherine joined, ie 2009. Catherine did all the required paperwork for my initial investment to become reality at that time. I remember this as she was so very professional, efficient and so approachable.
I spoke to Catherine yesterday, after so many years and found the same highly committed charming lady.

Absolutely awful experience with Abbey…

Absolutely awful experience with Abbey Wealth.
As previously mentioned, advisors come and go frequently, any growth in investment is quickly eaten up by charges, slow (if any!) response to emails and be prepared to be kept on hold for at least 30 minutes when trying to speak to someone by 'phone.
I am now left without a dedicated advisor!
I believe that this company has very serious problems at the moment.
Avoid!!!

Problems at Abbey Wealth???

What is happening at Abbey Wealth???
Amid reports of advisor dissatisfaction and multiple resignations, my third advisor in eight years has also quit, while the performance of my investment continues to disappoint. A recent recommended change of investment managers (to Novia Global, CI) will, hopefully, kick start performance??? Meanwhile, there has been no explanation or correspondence from AW, or notification of my advisor’s replacement.
