Excellent Customer Service at Alterna Saving!!

I have been dealing with Sonia Morrison for over 25yrs or more. My experience with Sonia has been exceptional from start to finish and she interduce me to Rukshana Pokharel recently and she went above and beyond to ensure every detail is handled with care, clarity and professionalism. I appreciate the most from both of them to explain financial matters and their genuine commitment to helping client like my self to make confident decisions, its rare to find someone who combines expertise with such kindness and reliability I truly feel very supported every time I work with them. I highly recommend their service to anyone looking for trustworthy and dedicated banking professionals.

Having came across # gcasco # they do just right by me and they don't take forever responding to questions.

Lost of significant portion of my profits.

On a call in 2019, a week before COVID hit Canada, I asked Altona Savings (800 Bay St, In Toronto) to cash out my investment. They didn’t act, and when the market crashed, I lost a significant portion of my expected profits. To make matters worse, when I went to the branch, they told me the investment arm was a separate entity altogether, and not actually part of Altona Savings, even though I dealt with them as if they were.

I had a very frustrating experience…

I had a very frustrating experience with this company. They never sent the official statement needed for my tax report, which forced me to make numerous calls. Each time I called, they promised they would send it, but they never did.

They usually told me that I could download it myself, but that was not the official statement—only a statement for the last month of the year. After we closed the account, I could not even download anything anymore and had to rely completely on them to send the documents by email. Despite multiple promises, they still never sent them.

I also do not understand why they created two accounts for one mortgage. Because of that, my common-law partner had to call them, even though he had never logged into the account before.

Finally, they never returned the $15 deposit that we had to pay in order to obtain the mortgage.

Overall, the customer service and follow-through were extremely poor.

I have been dealing with alterna Alterna is great!credit…

I have been dealing with alterna credit union and its predecessor since 1984. They supplied my home mortgage, my car insurance, my savings account, my RRSP’s, and my investment since that. Time. They are a nonprofit organization, devoted to dealing well with this member, not the shareholders who Skim off profits for the big banks. One would be a fool not to not be a member of a credit union in this day and sge.

Alterna has gone downhill the past few years!

Alterna has gone downhill the past 1-2 years. The service at the Streetsville branch was amazing, then they closed it and opened a new one in heartland. Multiple horrible experiences since the transition. Looking at moving to another credit union, currently very unhappy.

Alternative Savings Lakeshore branch…top person

Alternative Savings Lakeshore branch there is a person that works there. Her name is MIRA . This person is the best of the best. She knows exactly what she’s doing. She has helped me numerous times every time has been flawless and successful. It’s really nice to deal with people like that that know what they’re doing and can solve all the problems that you have. She is definitely top notch. As a matter of fact, I won’t use anybody else there because she already is like Tina Turner says simply the best.

A joke…

Went through the process of becoming member. They never contacted me. Phoned the nearest branch and made an appointment. When I turned up at the appointed time the person concerned "wasn't in that day." Someone else promised to call me the next day. Never happened. So... Alterna looks like you don't want new members after all.

WORSE BANK EVER

I would never use this bank or recommend them to anyone. My worst enemy deserves better treatment than this bank gives you. They tell you they will help you but they don't return calls. If you listen to there recorded messages its a joke how the advertise as a great bank with reliable service. When applying for a mortgage with one of their mortgage specialist.

Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever. Called the ‘local’ number not knowing I was speaking to someone in a call centre. Was told again today they can only give me 2 hours for an increase in my spending. Was told, after writing a review a few weeks ago, a “ higher up” told me that is incorrect. It is 24 hours. Was suggested I call the bank directly - what a joke. You don’t ever get to speak with the branch

Very bad service

Very bad service! Impossible to get the statements. Customer service doesn't have a knowledge and change rules all the time! Don't put the transactions through, because don't know how to do it! Made an appointment with a mortgage specialist over the phone and she was rude and inpatient!

The buggiest software of any financial…

The buggiest software of any financial institution. Many many service interruptions. They took over my credit union, Northern Lights in Sioux Lookout. We now do not have an office, no after hours service on line, to get service I have to drive 100klm to Dryden where service is also limited. The office in Ignace was also taken over, it also is now closed. Ignace clients now have to drive about the same distance 100 plus KLM to Dryden for services.
I have been trying to complete a transaction all day and been denied service, I have been personally and financially embarrassed by the stupidity of their services and software. Complete CRAP!!!

Got Frauded on Marketplace - what is the difference between a SCAM and FRAUD Can you inform your members about E…

Can you inform your members about E Transactions and what they can do to limit the amount that goes out when they get scammed.
What is a difference between a Fraud and a Scam same thing.
Some other banks value there customers and back them up when this happens. Myself I was told we don't cover these things with Alterna Savings. Really as a member for 30 years I do not like being under valued as a member.

Was frauded 3k THEY WERE ABLE TO WITHDRAW that money with my emails address and the link the asked me to enter my bank location. No account number or passsword, just email and location of bank ....BEWARE ON MARKETPLACE LOTS OF THIS STUFF GOING AROUND.
Fraud unit were able to help out and resolution center was the same we can't give you the MONEY you got SCAMMED OR FRAUDED, THEY SAID IT WAS A SCAM NOT A FRAUD same thing.

I have a Police report but they are overloaded with Fraud / scam Cases.

So the banks don't care about you but only themselves BUT THEY ARE HAPPY TO TAKE OUR MONEY AND INVEST AND MAKE MONEY WITH YOUR MONEY.

Very Pissed off member of 30 years plus.

UPDATE - Fraud department reviewed my case - they say that it will be the police to investigate were the moneys went - BANKS SHOULD HAVE BETTER DETECTIONS WHEN FRAUDULANT ACTIVITY IS BEING COMMITED we pay for a service but they will not provide thief when a member gets frauded out of money....

UPDATE -
BE VERY CAREFUL OF prepaid E-Transactions on Facebook Marketplace, do not click on these. Run away at all cost, they will get into your account and take your money.

DO NOT BE THE NEXT VICTIM OF THIS FRAUDULANT ACTIVITY ON MARKETPLACE FACEBOOK.

Yes be very careful ....Facebook marketplace is a scammer paradise....Banks will not cover your loss...police have too many scams to cover...so in other words ur SOL....

I've been with Alterna Savings since…

I've been with Alterna Savings since the early 90s.
They offer very good personalized service and I have never experienced a single problem.
I have all my savings, TFSAs and checking there. They call me when a certain investment is up for renewal and they always find me the best rates.

I had a great experience at the Stouffville Alterna. Jordan Keith has an amazing customer service approach. He quickly and effectively responded to my request to access my RESP in preparation for my daughter’s 1st year at university. He made the whole transaction seamless and fluid. Thank you Jordan for your help.

Bill was taken from my wife’s account

Bill was taken from my wife’s account. Employee tells me that I have to fix it. I told them that I don’t know who it is. They wouldn’t listen. They kept on telling me that I had to know who it is. So I got mad and hung up. Now they treat me like garbage. Kingston Alterna savings sucks.

Bank Acct compromised!

My mother in laws bank acct was compromised, took her whole savings, just shy of $7000. Bank not backing her up or supporting her, blaming her that it must have been her fault, tellers at bank informing us that many seniors accts were hacked in fall. No communication, no loyalty, stay clear of this bank. Absolutely disgusted!
