Beamish Avis 

Had a lovely day at beamish lots to do do and see .only problem was certain employees were very rude and unpolite,lady in bakers was very sharp when asked questions. Very unprofessional.

Went to Beamish 17.06.25 as they promote it as a dog friendly place. We have two small, very quiet dogs but in EVERY staffed indoor exhibit we were told dogs were not allowed. Beamish should be honest in what dog friendly means to them and perhaps have signs outside exhibits where dogs are not allowed.

I am an 84 year old man with walking difficulties. On Friday the 20th of June my wife, Di, and I turned up at Beamish on what has since proved to be the hottest day of the year. Without prior arrangement we were cheerfully provided with a wheelchair and advised to use the access bus. We set off to the bus stop and asked the tram driver to radio the access bus. This he happily did and within minutes we were welcomed onto the bus. This became the pattern of the day. Nothing was to much trouble and the volunteers did everything for us with patience, kindness and good humour. As a consequence we were able to visit several superb exhibits and we're looking forward to coming back another day. Thank you.

Never again. Two hours queuing to get in at 12.45 and then another hour and 15 mins for simple chips. From there we thought we'd get a bus or tram, but after queuing for 45 mins and seen two modes of transport leaves us full, we started walking. It could be so much better. More staff, more transport, less profit focus. So very, very disappointed 😞

Like marty McFly it's going back in time . Great place and really big like a whole village love the 50s town mh grandmother has a house and furniture just like this . Kids love the old trams and buses and loved petting farm such a fantastic place . Love the fact your tickets are valued for whole year amazing hope to return later in the year Davey's fish and chips beautiful and cooked on old fashioned fryers

Excellent day at Beamish museum.

I have to say that this is probably the best museum in the country. If there is one better I have yet to hear about it. The day was fantastic from the moment we got there to the moment we left. There was so much to do for everybody. Toilets everywhere transport around all the attractions. The staff were brilliant and very knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for one of my best days out ever.

A wonderful interactive educational day out. Impossible to see everything in one day so we will be back. The only thing that really needs changing is the queuing. Huge ques to get in and a lack of enough eateries /drink stands meant queuing was an issue and added a considerable amount of time to your day out.
This could have definitely been improved especially on entrance and perhaps with added drink stands/carts around.
However we took our dog and found it great. Obviously lots of places you can't take them in but you can take it in turns to go into the houses and shops. Fish and Chips are amazing and staff very knowledgeable adding to a great experience.

No point in visiting if you have a dog .
Virtually no access to anywhere apart from pub .
If that is the policy why don't they just ban dogs altogether instead of charging nearly £30 ?

If you like to experience social history and not simply expecting a theme park then you will really love Beamish. In some ways it's a victim of it's own success and some patience and flexibility is required at busy periods. Personally, I've spent 5 days there over the last year and enjoyed every one of them. There's a kind of magic to Beamish that words and photos cannot properly describe. I'd give an extra star if I could. If you are of average fitness it's easily possible to walk around as well as take the occasional bus or tram. The staff were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable on every visit. I see people are complaining about their experience with taking their dog. I don't take a dog however I did see plenty of water bowls and dogs walking around. It's probably a better than average day out for a dog but many of the usual restrictions also apply and frankly the authentic environment inside many buildings would not be suitable or safe for the dog or other visitors. There's various outdoor or semi outdoor places to sit. So much to see and experience!Just brilliant 👏

Reiterating other reviews. This place is NOT dog friendly at all. Please don’t advertise as such. Nowhere to eat a proper meal inside. Large tearoom area could easily accommodate a dog friendly area. We live in the Lake District and most places are dog friendly. Luckily the weather was very good during our visit but had it been raining we would have to have left early as nowhere to go inside.

Such a shame as this is a great museum but we were deeply disappointed to find that an allegedly dog friendly museum does not allow dogs inside ANY of the buildings except the pubs and the Gift Shop. The cynic in me might think that's because those venues are income generating but that's a different story.

Having been to many 'working villages' in the past including Blists Hill and the Black Country Museum we've never encountered such restrictive policies. Yes dogs are prohibited from the food shops but are welcomed in all the other exhibits.

Time to wake up Beamish and either recognise dogs as part of the family or stop advertising your site as dog friendly.

We’ve just had a wonderful day at beamish - we went with a tour with rail discoveries so only got there lunch time - you def need a full day and possibly more - history is brought to life in the many old buildings and staff dressed in the same era - plenty to do and lots of buses and trams you can hop on and off - akso plenty of loos which is always important / the drinks and food we bought however was really expensive I’d def take my own next time - queuing up at the old sweet shop u need to wait until a till is available which I found a bit odd as we initially only wanted to look around - we did buy ‘half the shop’ but Jyst wanting to look around is prob not a good option

3 adults and 1 small, well behaved dog. No where to eat inside in the warmth because of the dog. We were told the pub did food. However the pub was crowded and could see no sign of availability. Only cakes available in the bakery, long queue at the 1950s cafe, all savory snacks at the snack shack in the pit village had been sold by 1.30. We ended up with fish and chips eaten outside.
National Trust restaurants and cafes manage very well with their dog friendly areas. Beamish need to take a serious look at their policies of eating establishments for dog owners. In this age definitely NOT acceptable.

Beamish is a wonderfully immersive experience, your ticket lasts for a years of unlimited entry into the museum, for £28 you really cant get better than that. Yes there are queues, but what theme park dosent have these. People make the mistake of trying to see everything in one day, well, you cant. Plan your visit by chosing a few places then just go see and learn about the history. I love the place and will keep going. We were a group of 6 international visitors and every one of our group loved it.. Thanks beamish.

As a group of 5, 2 wheelchair users and someone else with mobility support needs it was crappadoodledoo!
Queues to get into the car park were horrendous! 2.5 hours wasted just getting into the place! (Including parking, and queing to get in) An hour queuing for fish n chips. Take your own condiments and cutlery! (Minging toilets, wet bog roll all over the floor) waited for the access bus, 20 mins but no room for us, then a difficult walk with wheelchairs along cobbles as all the pavements were full of people queuing to get into shops or catch the tram.
Very hilly, and hard work over cobbles! we went to a farm, we saw a pony, some chickens and some pigs that the wheelchair users couldn't see because of the barrier. There was houses that were too poky for wheelchairs to go inside. Some shops only took cards, and we only had cash. Everything was closing up before 5pm. Got the access bus back to the entrance (another long wait) and found the gift shop closed, and that was the only exit for wheelchair users. It took 20mins before someone came along with keys, and they weren't pleased. "We're closed straight out please"
We arrived 500m away at 11.30 am, it was 2.40pm before we sat down for lunch and we hadn't even been dawdling or even been to the loo. By the time we got into the village we hadn't had time to see anything before closing time. It's a thumbs down from me!

Great place the problem you have at Christmas time can’t get tickets to see Santa there is always an excuse system crashed think keep tickets back for the fund raisers would not mind paying a bit extra
