BestInvest is not best in class. Having accounts with some of BestInvest's competitors, I was intrigued to see how BestInvest compared. Poorly, is the honest answer.
Transfer of funds: It can take up to 3 working days for BestInvest to credit your account. Worse they appear to "lose the account reference" despite it being clearly shown on the payment. The payment process is effortless with competitors like AJ Bell. Customers should get same day payment. 1 out of 10!
Contract notes: Why can it take up to 3 working days for a contract note to appear on the account. It should be same day. 1 out of 10.
When setting up the account there was no single point in operations. You get through to a help line who have to liaise with ops. I must have dealt with 6 different staff members when asking for information. 1 out 10.
The nasty help line message. Most competitors these days say "calls will be recorded for training and monitoring purposes". BestInvest goes one step worse and also states, " we kindly remind you that abusive behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in the call being terminated". All in all, then not a client centric organisation but one that clearly sees the customer as having to be tolerated.

Good discussion of options I could consider as I switch from perm employment to a mix of drawing pensions and interim work. No hard sell and a worthwhile call.

I've just setup a SIPP with Bestinvest and the experience so far is poor. Like other reviewers have observed it seems that behind the app is a very slow manual process.

I transferred a pension contribution 2 weeks ago and it has yet to appear in my account. Apparently it should appear by next Monday, so in total will be 2.5 weeks to deposit funds.

Customer expectations are a lot higher than they were, filling in PDFs and waiting 2-3 weeks for funds to clear feels like something from 20 years ago.

Colin Murray was friendly but extremely professional and helpful. He even let me briefly talk about football as well as investing. A very positive experience

Useful general advice, helpful explanation of products available. A useful sounding board for investment strategies, with some general advice on areas to consider/review. A brief summary provided of some key points afterwards.

So first they take over 48 hours to action my request to sell funds and now it is going to take 3 weeks to get my pension payment!!! They are in the dark ages!!! AJ Bell is 3 days!!! My highly paid daughter is currently setting up a SIPP. Guess which provider she will be using?
In addition, their I.T. is appalling! I requested the sale of a fund and a message flashed up to say it had failed. I tried again and then discovered it had gone through twice.
I complained but my complaint was ignored.
Unbelievably, I pay for this appalling service!!!!!

Good sounding board for strategic change in investments to suit older age. Good listener, without a fixed agenda and suggested ideas to research and persue . The follow up email contained very generalised Bestinvest advice, but a sound checklist so as not to forget basic sensible rules on investing

Had a call with Marc. I was looking for some guidance. A great call with loads of information and guidance. I feel I can put a plan together now.

I was helped by Taylor who was extremely supportive, kind, patient highly knowledgeable and provided as much information as she could. She also followed up the call with useful and relevant documentation.
It was a very good experience speaking with her.

I have been with BestInvest for over 20 years and have always found them to be polite and helpful in all my dealings. Long may it continue as I am sure it will.

Very helpful and friendly chat. My coach was knowledgeable, and followed up with an email summary and additional clarification where needed. I liked that there was no element of pushy salesman. He listened to my thoughts and helped me to clarify my way forward. Just what I needed.

I opened a SIPP and made a deposit. They failed to claim the tax relief for me. I chased them numerous times, often without reply. They now state I may need to wait to January 2026 (Deposit made in 24-25 tax year) for this to be resolved and offered NO compensation, not even for lost interest. Utter cowboys. I have complained but they don't respond,

Much more helpful than I expected. Understandingly evasive on poor performance by some of our holdings.
