I called ahead of time and was told…
I called ahead of time and was told that they would be able to help me, so I brought my pet in expecting to receive care. Instead, I sat there for hours only to be told that they were still waiting for a veterinarian to pick up my case. After waiting for hours with no care provided, I ultimately left without my pet receiving any treatment. I understand that emergency clinics can be busy, but if they are unable to see a patient in a reasonable amount of time, they should be upfront about that when someone calls ahead. The lack of communication and the excessive wait were extremely frustrating, especially when you are already worried about your pet and seeking emergency care. My experience was very disappointing, and I would have appreciated honesty, communication, and a clear understanding of whether my pet would actually be seen. There were only 2 people originally ahead of me.
Then as more came in we kept getting bumped back
Exceptional Service at Blue Pearl in Forest Hills
This was my first experience at BluePearl for diagnostic testing, and I was very pleased with the care and customer service my cat, Chloe, and I received. My cat needed an echocardiogram, and Eugene, the Nursing Supervisor at the front desk, greeted me when I arrived and confirmed my appointment. After I sat down, Eugene offered me a bottle of water and kept me informed about the wait time, which I really appreciated.
The technician then greeted me and took the time to explain the echocardiogram process and what to expect. While I waited to meet with the cardiologist, I also had the opportunity to observe Tijana at the reception desk interacting with clients and answering phone calls. She was very knowledgeable, patient, and welcoming with everyone she assisted. This was my first time bringing her to BluePearl for diagnostic testing, and based on my experience, I would highly recommend them.
A very bad experience with this…
A very bad experience with this Veterinary , the didn't respect the estimate and in the last minutes will try to additional money and the estimate, dishonest and they take advantage of the situation because it is only emergency in Reno.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT!
This hospital is owned by the Mars candy company. The doctors are commissioned base. After given the alternative of $5,000 to $7,000 to save my dog or euthanasia under duress I chose euthanasia. My dog was cremated and UPS'ed to me by Trusted Journey Pet Memorial in Clarkston. I work full time but need an adult over the age of 21 to sign for her ashes. I did a digital signature online but that does not work. No one at UPS can give me an update on my dog's whereabouts. The call center for UPS is overseas and cannot tell me where she will be taken if no one is there to sign. Trusted Journey tells you that they are busy with other pet parents and then disconnects the call because the voicemail is full. Do yourself a favor and do not trust Trusted Journey or Blue Pearl. Your dog will be dead and their ashes traveling through the UPS system lost unless you have persons over the age of 21 whose name matches the vet records to sign for them. Per UPS they check ID. Nothing says that we care about your furbaby more than this. She would have been better off dying in the car on the ride home and taken to her caring vet for cremation. This is ridiculous - like her death wasn't stressful enough. Do your research and just say no!
Major errors, did not respect our final wishes
Worst experience ever! Terrible! They "accidentally" did not follow our request to have our cat cremated so we could have her ashes. We have NOTHING!! We paid for it and made it clear. What makes it so much worse is that WE had to call THEM repeatedly just to get a refund for the services we paid for (private cremation), and they did not even tell us what happened until we kept calling. It's bad enough to lose a family member, but to have to prolong the grief by having this happen, calling over and over for months is SO NOT OKAY. We were also told that this is not a first for them. I am beside myself, so sad and angry! This makes us question everything all over again- her care in general, and it's not something anyone should have to go through after a loss. This location closed only weeks after our loss, and now, three and a half months later, we are still trying to get answers. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PET!
I have so many regrets.
Absolutely a last resort option. Nothing more!
Despite there being only a few people ahead of us—and none who appeared to have an emergency—we waited more than four hours just to have our dog triaged while she was bleeding heavily the entire time.
After I repeatedly asked why we were still waiting, we discovered that the original staff member had never entered our dog into the triage system. The way this location operates is beyond ridiculous. It could run much more efficiently if the staff showed any genuine concern, but our experience made it clear that they did not.
Several other families eventually left because of the excessive wait and chose to drive a considerable distance elsewhere for care. We also witnessed behavior that appeared openly racist, which made an already terrible experience even more disturbing.
This is a middle-of-the-night, absolute-last-resort facility—and they seem to know it. Be prepared to wait six to eight hours, not necessarily because your pet’s condition warrants waiting, but because you may simply not be treated as a priority. Questioning the wait did not help, even though our bleeding dog had not been called for triage after more than four hours.
The word “awful” does not begin to describe our experience.
Great oncology team!
Our cat Tasha was treated in Studio City with SRT for nasal lymphoma. We were very pleased with the entire experience, with kudos to Dr Quarterman, Emily, and Annabelle. Tasha is doing extremely well now. Staff showed kindness and expertise. Highly recommended for oncology. Great communication before and after as well.
Blue Pearl Appleton Veterinary Emergency Hospital
Blue Pearl emergency clinic in Appleton WI treated me and my dog like we were a burden because we needed help to pay for emergency services. They are the reason my dog needed a second surgery after the one he had at BP. They opted not to do an x-ray because they "felt I wouldn't be able to pay" even though I told them I had help to pay the bill. My dog jumped out of a moving vehicle, how does a veterinarian NOT insist on doing an x-ray? He claimed he did, but he never mentioned it. Exit consultation and care paperwork are atrocious. Their ethics are horrendous for a company that claims compassion.
Paid in full, then sent to collections
We paid every invoice BluePearl presented to us before leaving with our pet. Years later, and after our dog had passed away, BluePearl claimed we owed an additional balance. We disputed it, yet they ultimately sent the account to a debt collector, now claiming a different amount.
Even more disturbing, I have since found other customers describing strikingly similar experiences involving supposedly paid accounts later being pursued for payment and sent to collections.
Based on my experience, BluePearl’s billing and collection practices deserve serious scrutiny.
DO NOT take your dog to this…
DO NOT take your dog to this veterinarian if your dog is a specialized breed. I am so heartbroken, and writing this brings it all back, but I feel a responsibility to warn dog owners so that this same situation does not happen to you.
I drove to this hospital with my English bulldog, who was having trouble breathing, and trusted them to give her the care she needed. After running tests and bloodwork, they released her in the same condition she entered the hospital that morning. $1900.00 and 5 hours later, my beloved bulldog was dead. By the time I got her to my regular vet, she was too far gone.
NOT ONCE did the vet mention her esophagus. Not once mentioned checking it, not once mentioned that it could be something with her esophagus, not once brought up any esophageal issues that plague bulldogs, much less paralysis. The vet tried to claim it was Cushing's disease, which has nothing to do with breathing issues, I later learned.
I was promised an itemized invoice at checkout. I was told I would be emailed it. I contacted the hospital, but there is still no email. I followed up with an email on their website, explained that my dog was now dead, and still NOT ONE call or email.
If you have a specialized breed, stay away. DO NOT use this hospital. I rushed there as they were the closest to my home. I entrusted them with my baby, who was clearly in distress. She is now dead, we are heartbroken, and it all could have been avoided.
Took my cat Sadie there Saturday…
Took my cat Sadie there Saturday evening didn't get seen till 7hours later at 130am. Said Sadie must have fell and hurt herself. Didn't even do blood work, just gave me pain medicine for Sadie and said give it 10days. Monday Sadie was in worse shape took her to a different veterinary clinic. They did blood work right away, found Sadie was in kidney failure and blood in urine. Had to put Sadie to sleep. If blue pearl would have done their job better and testing I wouldn't have been upset becauseof the pain Sadie was in. But I would never go back to that Blue Pearl and I would not recommend Blue Pearl to anyone who has a sick pet.
Update Blue Pearl claims i was offered blood work by the nurses and the dr. Which was a complete lie. Not once was i ever offered blood work for my cat. The Dr only offered mri and exray and said probablywont help out, which I did deny after sitting there for 7hours. I never once seen a nutse or talked to a nurse about anything offered to me for my beloved pet. Again I would not ever take a pet there for any kind of issues, with the lies and no explanation on anything besides what I post earlier.
Blue Pearl just wants your money. They don't care if your pet lives or dies.
Blue Pearl quoted me $6,000 for a surgery that another clinic quoted as less than $2,000. I looked them up, and no surprise- they're a private equity-backed cash grab. Their priority is maximizing shareholder profits, not caring for pets. This is an *evil* company- what kind of people extort people who are afraid for their pet? Blue Pearl and other private equity vet clinics should be shut down and the money they stole returned to the clients they ripped off.
Trust no more
They said they would let me know if my furkid condition changed. I called at 10 pm, they were rounding and said they would call after rounds. No call. According to their notes. At midnight her condition changed… no call. 2-2:30 she went into cardiac arrest. Note says they called me. I never got a call until 4:30. WTF. All they care about is money. Very sad, I expect more from people that care for animals. Never again.
Overcharged and no explanation of cost…
Overcharged and no explanation of cost before explaining what you had already done or actual service. Blue Pearl built plan without cost associated and held us hostage to a $4600 invoice before we left building @ 1:30 a.m. These folks are scam artist knowing you cannot refuse their services because they've already done them. BluePearl recognizes if you are there with your pet you will spend emotional money even displaying material with financing information knowing they are stealing from pet parents in trauma with their pet's.
Their $$ Game is so Obvious
I took my dog there because she was up all night with diarrhea. The vet was so obvious in his effort to encourage add-on diagnostics, to the tune of $1,500.
If I threw up twice and then it stopped, I probably wouldn't be getting myself a $135 shot for nausea. After having diarrhea for less than 24 hours, I most likely wouldn't invest in an ultrasound and cancer screening.
They gave her IV fluids (that was all I allowed) and that was $365.I am so sick of this vet industry putting profit first and animals second. I understand that making money is part of the equation, but this is ridiculous. I will not go there again.
Advanced Diagnostics, But a Clinical Experience That Isolates You From Your Pet
We brought our dog to Blue Pearl for specialized testing that was not available elsewhere, and we are grateful for the diagnostic capabilities they provided. The tests they ran were critical to understanding his condition, and we acknowledge the importance of having access to that level of equipment and expertise.
We also want to specifically recognize Matthew, a vet tech who went above and beyond to make an incredibly emotional and difficult situation as bearable as possible. His compassion and effort stood out in stark contrast to the overall experience, and we are genuinely thankful for him.
However, we feel it's important for other pet owners to understand what the care model looks like here before making a decision during a crisis. This facility operates on a more traditional, clinical approach. Visiting hours are extremely limited, which means you are separated from your pet for the vast majority of the day and night. For our dog—who was critically ill and stressed by the unfamiliar environment—being separated from us compounded his anxiety, and ours. The focus felt primarily clinical; our pet was treated as a case to be managed rather than a life with a story and a family who desperately wanted to be part of his care and treatment plan.
We understand that this is the model many specialty hospitals follow. But after subsequently transferring our dog to VEG – Overland Park, we experienced a fundamentally different approach—one where families are part of the care team, where you have 24/7 access to your pet, and where the focus is on treating the whole patient, not just the diagnosis. The difference in our pet's stress level—and ours—was immediate and profound.
If you are seeking specific advanced diagnostics, Blue Pearl has those capabilities. But if you are looking for a model of care where you are included in the process, where your pet's emotional well-being matters as much as the clinical plan, and where you won't be separated from your family member during their most vulnerable moments, we would strongly encourage you to explore VEG instead.
Bring your checkbook
Bring your checkbook. My 21 year old daughter in law took 2 puppies to the hospital. Both dogs were in bad shape and one was basically dead when she walked in the door. They took the dog back and asked my emotional daughter in law if she wanted CPR on the dog. Of course she said yes, but did not tell her it was $1000. The dog died within 5 minutes. They told her the other puppy needed surgery and it would be 12-15 thousand dollars. She left with 2 dead puppies and a $2,100 bill for an hour of nothing.
Blue Perl Hospital charged us over 6000$ and my dog past the way within 12 hours after been admitted in this hospital
Chronological Summary of Events - Lense
November 4, 2025
Lense presented to Dr. Liebman with lethargy and decreased appetite. No baseline
bloodwork or diagnostic testing was performed despite systemic symptoms.
Marbofloxacin (Zeniquin) 50 mg was prescribed for suspected pneumonia.
November 5-6, 2025
Following administration of Zeniquin, Lense developed new symptoms not
previously observed, including facial swelling and paw edema.
November 6, 2025
Lense was re-evaluated. No diagnostic testing or comprehensive reassessment
was performed at that time. Treatment was limited to administration of
diphenhydramine.
November 7, 2025
Lense's condition worsened, and he was transferred to BluePearl Hospital for
e m e r g e n c y c a r e .
Upon arrival at BluePearl Hospital, Lense presented with:
• facial and throat swelling
• suspected pancreatitis - per Blue Perl
• suspected Cushing's disease
• systemic inflammation - per Blue Perl
We were contacted by hospital staff at approximately 5:00 PM and again at 7:00
PM and were informed that Lense was "doing good." In addition, we were verbally
advised at the time of admission that Lense had a good prognosis for recovery. We
were presented with a proposed treatment plan involving an anticipated two-day
hospitalization with an estimated cost of approximately $10,000. When we inquired
about Lense's heart condition, we were told it was "good," and when we asked
about blood test results, we were also told they were "good."
At the time of admission and during these communications, no medical records or
diagnostic reports were provided to us. The only documentation provided at that
time was the proposed treatment plan outlining the intended course of care.
November 7, 2025 - Treatments Administered
Multiple medications and interventions were administered, including:
• Furosemide (50 mg) - documented as given by mistake
• Butorphanol - documented as given by mistake

• Plasma transfusion (approximately 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)
• Aminocaproic Acid (250 mg at approximately 10:26 PM)
Evening of November 7, 2025
Shortly after the plasma transfusion concluded, Lense was brought to us inside
the hospital in a severely deteriorated condition. At that time, Lense was observed
to be:
• unresponsive
• unable to walk
• with h e a d tilted to the left
• with visibly swollen abdomen
This a c u t e d e t e r i o r a t i o n w a s not d o c u m e n t e d in t h e medical record.
O u t c o m e
Lense's condition continued to decline rapidly and resulted in death at 11.39pm
the same night (we received a phone call from the hospital stating that he passed
away)
Following Lense's passing, partial medical records were provided approximately
one day later. The remaining records were provided approximately 20 days later,

I took my dog to blue Pearl yesterday…
I took my dog to blue Pearl yesterday because I believe that she was choking. I thought originally she may be got a hold of a baby rabbit in our fenced in yard and ate it and was choking on it. I wasn’t quite sure because I let my dogs out in my fenced in yard like most people do with dogs with a fenced in yard. They were outside for maybe 25-30 minutes. I go outside to give them some food and to see if any of them wanted to come in and then I noticed my corgi had blood coming down her mouth all on her chest down her legs as if she was in a fight. But I realized she was choking, and I couldn’t quite figure out why there was blood if she was choking. So I rushed her to blue pearl because they were the closest and my family vet had their number listed as an emergency. I take my dog there and we get there about 11 PM, they take us into a room, check her temperature and her weight and then take her in the back and make us go to the waiting room, which I thought was odd to not let you stay with your dog in a vet room like most vets usually do. But anyway, we go out to the waiting room and we wait. They keep her in the back. Up until about two in the morning. They call us back to a room and the doctor says just for bloodwork it’s automatically about 1400 which is whatever I care about my dog, but like how have you guys had her for all this time and all you did was bloodwork? So they come in to tell me that so far I have to pay this much and that it’ll be more after they do x-rays and I was like I told you guys when I came in she has something stuck in her throat and I’m just thinking to myself why wouldn’t you have already done the x-rays as it is? If this is considered an emergency, why isn’t it being treated as such?. But anyway the vet says she’s gonna go do the x-rays and be back in about an hour so an hour goes by. It was three something in the morning at this point and she comes back and basically says they can’t diagnose my dog, but believe that it was because she was choking on something, but can’t give me a definitive answer can’t diagnose my dog, but they said that they wanted to keep her overnight to evaluate her and just to keep her overnight Was pushing $5000 and there wasn’t even a diagnosis. I get emergency dog hospitals cost more because it’s an emergency, but this was excessive and to pay that much money and still not know what’s wrong with my dog felt like I was being robbed. They came in to show me the estimate and told me they could keep her overnight and I decided when they came back in the room to let them know, I will be taking her home to monitor her myself. Then they said well we have to write up a new estimate then. Then they bring in the new total which ended up being $1700. And the paperwork I got sent home with said she was undiagnosed, and that they were unsure of what was wrong with her. I felt like they were more worried about money than actually caring for the dog. I feel like they did not do everything necessary to check her. It doesn’t make sense why they had her for 3+ hours and all they did was bloodwork and to come to me to basically ask permission to do x-rays literally when I told you people from the get go that my dog Was choking and was coughing and gagging. Why wouldn’t you automatically do an x-ray from the start? It wasn’t treated as an emergency. And to try and charge me all that money and not be able to diagnose my dog is insane. If you weren’t able to help me, you should’ve simply have stated that you can’t diagnose her cause you don’t know what the problem is and I could’ve took her somewhere else you wasted my time and $2000 for a dog that is still sick. The only thing they did tell me was that they could see a little object in her intestines, but it seems to be moving on its own. So clearly it’s not for sure that it will but I wasn’t given any answers other than that. I’m just very displeased with the care that my dog received when it comes to not knowing what’s wrong with her and charging the amount that you charge. Literally nothing was done. All I got was sent him with gabapentin and an undiagnosed dog and $1700 later. If all you were gonna do was keep her overnight to keep her on oxygen and to monitor her how did that reach 5000 and how would that have got you a diagnosis? It just seems to me like they are about money and only money. This is the first time in my whole 31 years of life where I’ve ever taken a dog to a vet and spent a lot of money to be told, she’s undiagnosed. I can’t believe it. Horrible experience. The only thing positive I could say is the staff seem nice but I guess whenever they’re racking up your bill and charging you as much as they are id be nice too.
Both vet and technician lied to me…
Both vet and technician lied to me several times that they completed a FULL examination of my 15 year old dog and examination was negative. When I got home my dog was in severe pain due to ear infection. Vet states that no examination was done of the ears. THIS IS THE WORST EMERGENCY VET FACILITY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. I will be contacting State of Florida regulatory board as this vet should be reprimanded. He is a liar.
