My experience with Browne Jacobson LLP…
My experience with Browne Jacobson LLP has raised serious concerns about professional independence, conflicts of interest and accountability. The firm’s involvement with the TRA where they investigate professional misconduct cases makes the concerns surrounding its own conduct particularly troubling.
In our case, concerns arose over the firm’s connections with the same local authority whose maintained school staff it was expected to investigate, alongside the apparent failure to address notifications raising professional and ethical concerns. These circumstances raise legitimate questions about impartiality and whether those concerns were properly considered.
The firm promotes its achievements and commitment to supporting disadvantaged people. Yet, from our perspective, its approach to objections and its conduct in proceedings affecting a young child have felt profoundly at odds with those values.
Matters became even more concerning when escalation to the firm’s Head of Compliance revealed his previous senior-level involvement with the Solicitors Regulation Authority. That background does not itself establish wrongdoing, but it makes transparency, independence and a credible response to the concerns raised all the more important.
A firm’s reputation and awards cannot substitute for demonstrable integrity, independence and accountability. Where a child’s education and future are at stake, these standards must be upheld in practice, not merely promoted in principle.
