I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with BusinessesForSale.com.
Before upgrading, I was shown that my listing had received around 30 buyer leads. Based on this, I was encouraged to pay £499 for a 6-month advertising package to access the buyer details. Naturally, I expected genuine and serious enquiries.
However, after making the payment, the reality was completely different.
First, many of the “leads” were actually duplicates. One single person had submitted 4 separate enquiries, which were counted as multiple leads. This creates a very misleading impression of demand.
Second, a large number of leads were not even from the United Kingdom, even though my requirement was clearly UK-focused. Instead, I received enquiries from countries like India, Australia, Norway, and others.
Third—and most importantly—the quality of leads was extremely poor. I personally contacted almost all of them via phone, email, and WhatsApp, and only 1–2 people responded. The rest were either unresponsive, not serious, or appeared completely irrelevant.
This raises serious concerns about the quality and authenticity of the leads being provided.
When I raised this issue and requested a refund, it was refused with a generic explanation that they are “just a marketplace” and do not filter or qualify leads. This was never clearly communicated before payment, and certainly not in a way that reflects the reality of what you actually receive.
In my opinion, the way leads are presented before purchase is misleading, and the service does not deliver the value it promises.
I would strongly advise others to think carefully before spending money here.
Very poor experience overall.

BusinessesForSale.com operates as a marketplace, connecting sellers with potential buyers. We offer a “Test the Market” option which allows sellers to list their business and see the level of interest it generates without committing to paid advertising. However, we do not offer a free service. In order to contact buyers, sellers must convert to a paid advertising package.
In this case, your listing generated a strong level of interest both before and after converting to paid advertising, and it continues to receive enquiries. By any measure, the level of response your listing has received has been very strong, with consistent buyer interest being generated.
There has been no duplication. These enquiries represent genuine expressions of interest from prospective buyers. Each enquiry is recorded individually, and where a buyer submits multiple enquiries, this is clearly indicated so sellers can see it is the same individual making repeated contact. In this instance, one buyer followed up multiple times in an attempt to make contact, which reflects continued interest rather than duplication. The remaining enquiries were from separate individuals.
As an international marketplace, we do not restrict enquiries by geography. Interest can come from both UK based and overseas buyers, particularly where a business has broad appeal.
While we understand that not every enquiry will lead to a sale, and that some buyers may not respond, this does not indicate a failure of service. The platform facilitates introductions between buyers and sellers, but it cannot guarantee outcomes or buyer behaviour.
For these reasons, we believe the service has been delivered as described.
That said we remain happy to provide guidance on how to maximise engagement and help you connect with the most relevant buyers.
