BuySpares Ireland Avis 

I bought from buy spares.ie web site (with an Irish flag 🇮🇪 displayed) giving the impression it was an Irish company. Imagine my surprise when i got a bill for Irish VAT and and extra postal handling charge totalling approx 65% of the value i paid out on purchasing

This type of fake Irish website won't last too long, you all need to contact The Commission for Communications Regulation (Comreg) to report this malpractice. If you shop directly to a .co.uk website their shouldn't charge vat for delivery to Ireland as you will be charged by the Irish Customs.

Changed their address from buyspares.ie to buy-spares.ie, (hyphen) perhaps to avoid negative reviews. This is evidenced by the fact that the English site did not add the hyphen (buyspares.co.uk).

I also got hit with customs charges, believing that they were an Irish company.

Avoid this company especially if you are in Ireland - deliveries come from the UK, you will pay UK VAT and import duty which includes Irish VAT on the full (delivery included) cost. Something needs to be done to stop companies using an Irish URL while being based in the UK.

This is not an Irish site even though it's a .or site and has an Irish vat number. I still don't have my parcel that was "despatched" Dec 28th

This is not an Irish website. I ordered an item a couple of weeks ago, am still waiting for it to be delivered. I have been charged over €10 customs charge for an item which cost less that €30.

One star, simply because I assumed they were based in Ireland.

I see lots of bad reviews but all I can add is that I ordered and it arrived a few days later. I am unable to spot a customs fee. So I am unable to verify if they are a fake .ie.

Same as all the others … YOU WILL GET TAXED on import - not an EU company but pretend to be, most would check them out under there full name (not the .ie) and so will nit see these reviews - LEAVE YOUR REVIEW also on there other 5 (!!!) company listings on trust pilot

Horrible service. I have ordered the parts using the
buy-spares.ie (which indicates I am making my order in the country) they now want me to pay a customs fee, cause the products are sent from outside EU. I keep exchanging emails with them and their ticket system is not set correctly as with each of my email sent their way a new ticket is opening, so I keep going in circles! Have tried to call the number on the website, not working.

I want to cancel my order get full refund and have nothing to do with you ever again!

don't use this website. it is a uk based company and u will be charged duty and vat by anpost .they clam to have a french warehouse but everything is posted from the uk. very poor customer service.

As others have noted. Despite the .ie domain, and euro price, its a UK company. Shipping took weeks and ended up paying Irish VAT + anpost handling charge. This is on top of the "vat" (presumably UK) that buy-spares charge on your order.
Emailed the company about this and got a reply promising follow up, but nothing 4 weeks later.

Do not use this site, it’s a .ie domain but not based in Ireland. It’s UK based, shipments take about 1 month for some reason, also anything you get will ge held in customs and you will pay both the additional VAT and an An Post charge before it gets delivered. Not worth it.

Thought this company looked good - .ie website, had the assumption it was an Irish company, it certainly gives that impression - but alas, this is a UK based company - when buying, the VAT and Delivery charges were the Irish Vat prices, (which I was expecting), but Revenue have now contacted me looking for vat (@23%) on the total cost, so vat on vat - I have tried contacting this company, but there is no response. I am hoping revenue will do something about this company tricking people, and charging vat, but not declaring it.

This is a company that deliberately misleads people!
I made my order on the IE website so I was expecting a shipment from IRL but my order was shipped from uk so I was charged the duty costs, after even though they have a warehouse in France. Information on this subject is so hidden that it is very hard to find. I do not recommend anyone shopping on this site

Not an Irish site, but pretends to be. Avoid. Had to pay customs on an order that cost less than 15e. It still hasn't arrived.

This is not an Irish store. Even though it has a .ie email and all the prices are in Euro, items come from the UK. I only understood this once An Post sent me an email looking for customs charges to be paid. Very disappointing service and is deliberatly not clear as to where the store is based or where goods are coming from.

Buy-spares.ie only pretends to be Irish. It actually operates from Birmingham, UK. I recently ordered an electrical part from them. The price included VAT, payable at the time of ordering. When the part arrived in Ireland, Revenue raised a second VAT charge, payable before delivery. I have paid VAT twice over on the same item. This is unacceptable.

This is an English site pretending to be Irish (.ie). I was hit with a customs bill for 6.50 on items that cost 12.50. Do your research, don't be fooled..
