Avoid at all costs

This is a high volume, poor quality internet sales business with poor aftersales.

Went to view a car and asked if we could test drive it - was told that we could only test drive if we committed to buying it - all our details were taken beforehand and a credit application was made whilst we were test driving the car - we were told we could only take it for 10 minutes - when we got back the credit was all set up and the full warranty added - we were never asked if we wanted the warranty (this all felt as though we were being bullied/railroaded into buying) - they told us that the car had been serviced and there were no recalls on the vehicle - after a couple of days a warning light came up on the dashboard indicating that the coolant for the battery was low (this was an electric car so the coolant is paramount) - we telephoned CB but they didn't return any of our calls until about the 4th or 5th when we were told that they wanted nothing to do with it and to take it to the main dealer - there we were told that CB had booked the car in with them the month before, for the same problem but had never turned up - the dealer said that there was a recall on the car for a software update and battery recall - when they investigated the issue, they found many more - the dealer has been in touch with CB to ask for approval for the repairs which they gave but to date have not paid the dealer as promised

Car base sales experience
The sales floor was well laid out, the staff were friendly and considerate, and communicative. The car which I bought had been given an RAC inspection and appears to be in excellent condition.

I had this company purchased my vehicle…
I had this company purchase my vehicle on Motorway, the individual they sent was relentless, disrespectful and rude.
I don’t know if they were expecting to come and view a brand-new car which mine wasn’t (it was a seven year-old car with 70,000 miles). Pointed out there was (wear on the seat) I told him yes it’s a seat you use it to sit on. stone chips and other nonsense that you would expect wear and tear on a 7 year old vehicle, also the individual said that there was major mechanical issues with my vehicle (to the point it concerned me so much I immediately took it down to my local garage paid a diagnostics fee of £168) for the garage to tell me there was absolutely nothing wrong with my vehicle, it was in perfect working order.
So in short, I missed a days work, lost £168 to diagnose my vehicle unnecessarily because they sent a scam artist to my house!
Completely and utterly disgusting.
Would never use them or motorway again!

Great customer service
Matthew was very helpful right from the start. Always there to answer any questions. The only thing I have a few questions about was afterwards we found the heating wasn't working properly and I feel these things should have been checked before the sale. Now it needs to go back for it to be looked at.

Good Sales Pitch, Poor Follow-Up on Safety Issue
I purchased a car from Carbase which was advertised as having passed a 120-point RAC check. Part of that check clearly states that brake pads should have at least 50% life remaining.
However, shortly after purchase, it became clear that the brake pads did not meet this standard. In fact the MOT carried out shortly before purchase even advised that the rear pads should be replaced. This raises serious concerns about whether the inspection was properly carried out or if corners were cut.
I contacted Carbase multiple times to raise this issue, the responded initially but could not provide any proof they had been checked and asked for a report from a garage. I sent them the report stating that they had little life left in them and since then I have received no response. Being ignored when raising a legitimate concern about a safety-related component is extremely disappointing.
I have now been left to cover the cost of replacing the brake pads myself, which should not have been necessary if the vehicle had genuinely met the advertised inspection criteria.
I would strongly advise others to be cautious. A 120-point check should mean something—right now, it doesn’t feel like it does.
