Chadwicks of Boston Avis 

I have always had wonderful experiences with Chadwick’s of Boston. Their clothing has always fit me perfectly and I’ve never had a reason to complain about colors being off.

After reading all of these negative reviews, it just astounds me how NONE of the people writing these reviews have done their due diligence by paying attention to what the website says:
NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES!
Do you not understand what that means? You’re getting 50% off of clothing because...
THEY ARE CLOSING!!
I did my research because Chadwick’s doesn’t ever have a generalized sale of 50%off site wide - and to come to find out, the parent Company has filed for bankruptcy. This makes me VERY sad.
Thank you for all the great clothing and good customer service, Chadwick’s! You will be missed.

Hit or miss. The tall size can be ideal, and can fit nicely. But my recent order was NOT returnable/exchangable. One item came in with a big snag in the sweater (from the beading) and I"m waiting to hear back. Last order I will ever make from Chadwicks.

Heard back. They wouldn't ship the right size so I now have a damaged LARGE and an undamaged LARGE and neither fits. For the record, I typically wear large.

Chadwick's of Boston is a rip off! I placed an order and never saw the policy where you cannot return things(This should be illegal!). I purchased two blouses that were to big and went to return them but was informed that they would make no exceptions. I just wasted my money and I have no recourse. Unless Chadwick's excepts my return I will never order from them again and I will tell everyone I know what a crappy company they are. They may have earned a small amount of money short term but they are burning their bridges with their long term client list.

I have ordered off and from Chadwick's for years. I just ordered a blazer jacket & it was the wrong shade of red so wrapped it all up and prepared to return it. WOW! I was shocked to read that they no longer allow returns! This is clearly not the same Chadwick's even though the catalog looks the same. Like everyone else, I won't be ordering trom Chadwick's ever again. They are going to run out of customers to cheat very soon and they that will be the end. The customer service is non existent and they do not care. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CHADWICK'S !

They engage in deceitful advertising. I have a catalog with a 25% off your order of $85 that expires today (10/30/2019) but when I tried to order it gave me 50% off BUT, all sales were final...no returns or exchanges...and I wanted to be able to return anything in my order that didn't fit. They refused to honor what they sent me in print. I will NEVER place an order with this company again. And I'm going to see what I have to do to lodge a formal complaint. In this day and age, with so many honest companies to deal with, don't waste your time with dishonest Chadwicks of Boston!!

There customer service is so bad I waited on hold so long their return policy is even worse

Had the worst Shopping online experience ever with this company.
I purchased their tall winter white boots on sale and when they arrived the calf area was completely disproportionate to the shoe - not just a little bit as is normal , but my leg was swimming in the boot. The amount of material could easily make another pair between the two. I explained about the huge upper gap to the customer service rep .
He said he was sorry but unfortunately they were mine now since I’d bought them “on sale”. He was unwavering and could care less about the manufacturers flaw.
It is really obvious that this is what they do with their returns - put them on sale and then your stuck with them . When you think of it - not a bad idea for clearing out their returns.
And they must have a lot as the quality is poor also , but they do not seem to care as the majority of the reviews are negative.
Had I read them first I would never have trusted buying anything from them .
I thought they were the same as the old “ Chadwick’s “ that we bought from but BUYER BEWARE Here - they are not -
Their Merchandise quality has plummeted possibly due to using cheap materials and outsourcing- and they have an equally deplorable customer service staff that obviously are well versed on what to say from getting tons of complaints -
Spend a little extra and go to Macy’s or Dillard’s or any other reputable online store -
At least if you have an issue you won’t be stuck with an unwearable low quality product that you can’t even give away to a thrift store because nobody will be able to use .

I decided not to buy any more from this company because of two reasons.
First, return takes so long. I shipped my package on Nov 1st. It has been three weeks, no email or no refund yet.

Second, the customer service representative was so rude. She hang up before I finished my talk. Only thing she said to me was "wait".

Although items I ordered were ok, I do not want to buy from this company.

When they started their 50% sale I decided to order a few things. Well my first order came in yesterday, Wrong color and wrong size. Even though they are now saying no refunds, exchanges, I called them anyway. They told me they would be emailing me a return label and would be sending the correct item. It is now 24 hours later and I have yet to receive the return label. I have one more order coming and that has me concerned as to what I'm going to get. Not ordering anymore as there seems to be something going on and they are not being transparent with their customers.

There are certain basic items in the the Chadwick’s catalogue that I love and reorder over and over. The quality is great and the fit is as expected. That being said, I have ordered a few of their trendier items and have been disappointed with the sizing so I usually stick with the basics. I love their sales but feel the shipping costs are high.

I have been getting Chadwicks catalogues for years and I would throw them away because of past experience with them. Last week their catalogue came and I saw some things that were really nice looking and decided a couple of days later to purchase some of their items on line. Almost everything I chose was "no longer available" I tried to find a sweater they offered on the internet to no avail. Then I remembered that was the reason I stopped trying to buy from Chadwicks, the items were usually on back order or no longer available. I went on line to see why their merchandise is so limited. It is due to the fact that they buy cast off items from other merchants that those merchants were not able to sell. At any rate,
i'm sick of Chadwicks and I won't try to buy anything from them again, I'll stick with Amazon.

Wish there was a way to post a comment without having to give even 1 star!!! Chadwicks epitomizes the worst in false advertising!!! First, how they offer a 15% off on your initial purchase. Nope!!! They don't even honor that if it is a sale item. Every single coupon is a joke!!! In this day of high competition in the internet shopping world, I wonder how ANYONE would ever want to shop Chadwicks. Shame on you for extremely poor customer service.

So this review concerns many comments regarding lack of free shipping from Chadwicks. All you have to do is search the Retail Me Not website for free shipping coupons. For instance, there was one today that was 20% off full-priced items totaling over $100 + Free Shipping. It would be nice if they just put that out front on their website and probably many people don't know about Retail Me Not and other available couponing websites, but you can save money by using this. I always check coupon websites before I buy online. Just an FYI.

I like Chadwicks (and Metrostyle) because they are the only companies whose clothes fit me. Yes, it is expensive to pay for shipping and sometimes I wish the quality of the FABRIC was a little better, but the fit and the colors are almost always really good and really in style. Not only that, their clothes are not as expensive as other sites which have ugly colors. I usually order 2 to 3 of the same size at Chadwicks in case there are a few items that are sewn funny and that way I can come up with one that does fit. Or I just send it back and get another one in the same size, and that usually fits better. Also, I like the fact that almost all of Chadwick's pants come in TALLS and don't look old ladyish. None of the old lady sites have talls. Chadwick's clothes also come in Petites - Talls and are the only ones that fit me and what is great is they come in true colors not a color mixed with black to dull it down and not an ostentatious print that is sickening. They also have everything color coordinated; shoes, clothes, & purses, etc., so you can match things very easily right on their website. I love their clothes in the Spring especially their boyfriend sweaters because they have beautiful pastel aquas, yellows, and pinks. Chadwicks clothes are in style as well as flattering, and most of the time fit well. So, I just put up with the postage and the fact that they are a little slow. They are at the other end of the United States from me so it takes awhile. And they have really good coupons. If they haven't put any out recently get a coupon from "Retail Me Not.com"
Chadwicks is slow but steady. Don't expect them to be Amazon Prime. However, Amazon doesn't carry Chadwick's clothing. Chadwicks is not a Mega online store like Amazon. After all, WHO is like Amazon? But if you like Chadwick's style and color of clothes the way I do, and have found what works for you there, you can work with them and get what you want.

I have read about 20 reviews today, and I’m now convinced that I will NOT be purchasing anything from chadwicks! Sounds like they need to catch up with current trends of free shipping and free returns. Also, poor customer service is a no go for me!! Thanks to all who have submitted reviews!

Just look at the rest of the reviews. I mean COME ON Chadwicks!!!

Excessive return fees.

I returned a jacket within 24 hours of receiving it as the fit was poor. My refund was reduced by 35% for postage. This is appalling

I have been ordering from Chadwicks for a number of years and while some items have been good quality it seems recently that is not the case! And they charge and outrageous amount for shipping, which can take up to a week. I just returned two items (poor quality) 10 days ago, just called customer service and was told they received the package end of last week and it could take up to 2 weeks to process the refund!! They need to check out Amazon. Doubtful I will order anything from them again!

Poor products & worse service - wish I'd read the reviews before ordering. Bought 3 items and paid really high shipping. 1 of the items was defective. I ended up returning all 3. Even though they cover return shipping on defective items, they still made me pay for return shipping "because the other 2 items are fine." Haha what? They would've had to cover the return shipping anyway, but they clearly don't care about how they treat customers. Plus their products are frumpy, high priced, low quality. Never again.

I do love some of their fashions, but some are cheaply made. The cost of returning the cheap ones, plus the cost of having them shipped to you more than cover the cost of the item. I have donated some of the items due to the shipping costs. Dealing with customer service is a nightmare and again donating the unwanted or poorly made items is preferred. Due to the aforementioned situations, I'm in the process of closing my account.

Chadwick's needs to review this site, and maybe they could improve their business.
