Poor Quality Leads

We engaged DataCaptive after being quoted $3,000 for a lead list. They agreed in writing to match a competitor at $2,500.

Unfortunately, the quality of the data was unacceptable.

A significant number of emails bounced immediately. Many contacts had already left their listed positions. This undermines the basic purpose of purchasing a verified B2B list.

We reached out to request remediation and replacement contacts but have not received a meaningful response.

If a company is selling professional contact data, accuracy and responsiveness are essential. At this price point, buyers should not have to manually clean large portions of the list.

We are requesting a refund or a properly validated replacement list. I will update this review if the issue is resolved.

DataCaptive was aware of the platform I am using so they ask for a report not possible on my platform to avoid honoring their guarantee...Regarding the SMTP report, Instantly does not provide a traditional SMTP server report but offers detailed campaign analytics including bounce tracking, delivery status, and engagement metrics. If you want, I can help you access or generate detailed deliverability insights related to your campaign.

Here's a summary of your "NP Campaign" email activity:

Unique Emails and Bounces
Total unique leads contacted: 1,927
Total bounced emails: 459

Currently, no emails have been recorded as opened in the campaign steps.

I consider this abysmal and recommend everyone stay away from DataCaptive.

Further update: DataCaptive apparently prefers to argue about the details of their guarantee than to improve their process. Their lead system is horribly flawed. Why would I ever want to use their platform to send cold leads when their customer service and technical prowess is so bad. They are clearly a company in distress as they refuse to refund $2500 and prefer this public display.

To help bring full transparency to the situation, we wanted to share our perspective and clarify where things currently stand.

When we promise a 90% deliverability guarantee, the replacements as per the agreed terms in the Statement of Work, applies specifically to verified hard bounces, determined by SMTP server response codes (like a 550 permanent failure). This is the standard, objective method used across the industry to validate email performance.

In order to properly assess your claim and apply the guarantee, we requested the detailed SMTP bounce log export a few times now. This report includes the server response codes and hard/soft classifications needed to determine whether the guaranteed threshold was actually exceeded.

To date, we haven't yet received that SMTP-level report.

The summary screenshot shared with us shows total bounce counts, but it doesn't distinguish between hard bounces, soft bounces, temporary blocks, reputation filtering, or catch-all domains. Without that underlying response data, we simply don't have the technical evidence needed to validate the claim or issue replacements or financial adjustments under the guarantee terms.

That said, and this is important, we never refused to help. Quite the opposite. We’ve been ready and willing to act, and specifically offered:

1. Immediate review as soon as the SMTP report is received
2. Replacement of any confirmed hard bounces
3. Independent third-party revalidation
4. Financial adjustment if verified hard bounces exceeded the 10% threshold

So the path forward is actually quite simple. Once we receive the bounce log export, we can act immediately. Without it, our hands are tied, not because we don't want to help, but because there's no objective data to assess.

We genuinely want to get this resolved for you. Just send us the SMTP report, and we'll take it from there.

For clarity, our deliverability guarantee applies specifically to verified hard bounces (permanent delivery failures). The screenshot referenced reflects total bounces and does not differentiate between hard, soft, or temporary filtering events.

Within Instantly.io, bounced contacts can typically be exported by navigating to the campaign → Leads → filtering by “Bounced” status → and exporting the list with bounce reason classifications. This allows identification of confirmed hard bounces for objective review.

We have requested this detailed classification so we can accurately assess results and apply our guarantee policy correctly. We remain prepared to replace any confirmed hard bounces or issue a proportional adjustment if the agreed threshold is exceeded.

Our intention continues to be resolving this matter fairly and transparently. If there is any thing related to the platform that you're using, as a goodwill gesture, we will be happy to run your campaigns on our platform.

Issac made my experience great

Issac made my experience great. He was patient with me and helped me see the solution by listening to my problem rather than what I thought I needed or didn't need. He was creative enough to get the right solution together and ended up making a little more money for the company than he would have otherwise. We've had experience with Datacaptive so far. A special mention to Issac, who was extremely helpful throughout the process and made everything smooth from start to finish. Their customer service is responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on understanding our needs.

The ability to segment and filter data was a huge advantage for us — it gave us exactly what we needed without any unnecessary extras. On top of that, the delivery times were fast, and the pricing was very affordable compared to other providers we’ve worked with.
