What a awful experience is describing it politely

OUTWARD JOURNEY EXPERIENCE
On Tuesday 27th may I began the day excursion to the Cotswold
Was at the pick up point in St Helens for a early start of 7am
We then went on all that can be described as a guided tour of the local area for 5 pick up points.
We then began our journey on the m6
Traffic was awful on the m6 unfortunately
At this point it was 9-10am
And the driver announced he needed a 45 minute break at Stafford services
Unbelievably We had already been on the coach 3 hours and only got as far as Stafford services
We rejoined the coach then after a while the driver stated we were possibly visiting local villages in Cotswold due to having more time available
Upon getting closer to Cotswold he stated that was no longer possible and we would visit just 1 place stating you wouldn’t see much as it’s raining ( what a excuse)
We finally reached the place of Cotswold at 1230-1245pm ( this is after leaving St Helens at 7am)
The driver then stated please be back at the coach at 4pm
UNBELIEVABLE- 5+ hours travel for 3 hours in 1 location

RETURN JOURNEY EXPERIENCE

We began the return journey back at 4pm
Again the traffic was horrendous on the motorway
What a experience awful
sat on a coach from 4pm till 7pm non stop
Again at 7pm the driver stated he needed to stop at the services for a 45 minute break
(Stating the company was not providing a double driver principle on this trip)
I eventually arrived back at St Helens after again a guided tour for the drop off of passengers at 930pm

14 hour trip to the Cotswold never ever expected or experienced a coach day trip like it I honestly suggest David Ogden staff highly review the booking process and journey time for this trip

Also there was times of concern with respect to the manner of the drivers skills due to his high speeds in bad weather and approaching to corners

The complete 5 day holiday was 1st. class. Driver neil was very informative. the hotel and the food again very good. the friendship between guests very good.
All In all one brilliant holiday to Cornwall and the Scilly Islands.

Awful experience that won't want to repeat.
Weekend trip to France March
Fiasco at calais ferryyport when the 1.30 pm ferry booking was full also the 4pm crossing so eventually got a ferry at 6.30 pm after waiting all day . Knock on effect was instead of arriving home 8.30 pm Monday evening arrived back 3.30 am Tuesday.!
Can't understand why David Ogden holidays wasn't aware that it was bound to be busy at the port as was the 1st day of French children's holidays.!

I went on a day trip to Bury Market today with my mother yesterday 19/03/25. We were picked up at 10 am at Warrington Central Station, taken to Ashton to meet the coach and then off we went to Bury. All good, a lovely day....... until home time. Back on the coach at 16.15, great, until what should have probably taken an hour became a 3 hour journey going round in circles.
From Bury, we bypassed Warrington, dropped off passengers in Ashton, then onto Newton le Willows, Haycock, Newton le Willows again, St. Helens, Finger Post, Sutton, Peasley Cross, St Helens bus station, then Whiston, Thatto Heath, then onto Prescott!! In fact I'm pretty sure we saw St Helens 4 times!
I've been on many day trips and I know that sometimes they have to 'go round the houses' and that's the way it is, but this was ridiculous, made more so by the fact then when we eventually got back to Warrington, the driver, Joe, had to drive back to the base in St Helens!!! How this can be financially viable for the company is beyond me. This is the 2nd time this has happened to us on a Bury Market day trip, with the same driver. Don't think we'll be booking another. We could have travelled to Majorca in less time.

First time with this firm Just returned from MESTERY 3 days in Wales, we could not have packed any more in to this holiday hotel was great, food great driver John lovely man. I would recommend this firm to anyone.

Trip to the winnock hotel in January. Started off bad, as when we arrived and are case brought to the room the case was wet through. we had items that were wet and 2 that where stained I told the driver whom was not interested. Had to wash and dry these on 1 small radiator. Peter the driver was not the best as he talked very little and not informative at all. He also was not well dressed. The coach was never cleaned and windows where filthy. The holiday overall was ok. But more than anything was the total lack of interest in the complaint by anyone in the company. Their reply was we will tell the driver and garage. Todate no apologies . Pity.

Five ladies Just come back from a wonderful trip to Dryden Friday to Monday this was our 1st coach holiday and I have to say we have not regretted it. We had Jim as our driver and he was perfect from start to finish. He kept us informed about each activity He was pleasant and very proffessional and we enjoyed his company throughout the trip. Also the hotel Winnock in Dryden was wonderful great food fantastic staff and a lovely atmosphere We would highly recommend this trip. The value for money is fantastic. Please pass on our thanks to all

Had a fantastic time on this our very first coach tour, the driver Peter was always cheerful, and nothing was to much trouble, he really did take care of us all. coach was great the hotels were all lovely and food was very good except the last night, ( but they did make up for it at breakfast ), we really did enjoy this tour and look forward to many more with David ogden

Just returned a trip to Ireland with David Ogden tours,stayed at the lodge hotel Coleraine lovely hotel,spacious very clean rooms,great food although I think 7.30 is too late for a three course meal would be better at 6.o clock our driver Neil was great and very accommodating he tried to make sure we all had fun and a good time,the coach was kept spotless at all times,and the days out were very good would book this hol again

Coach was very uncomfortable for the long journey to the Isle of Wight. The trays in front of our seats were broken. Unsure of the age of the coach but it looked very 'shabby' and dirty. The driver was skilful but lacked giving information on 'comfort' stops on the return journey.

My husband and i have just returned from bury st edmund and constable country and what a delight it was,such stunning scenery and villages. The hotel was lovely and the staff helpful and very friendly. The food was excellent, we never had a bad meal. Everyone on our trip we really good company and peter our driver was a complete star. He was lovely company, very helpful with people who were less mobile and always had a smile. He liked a good joke too. On the way home the coach broke down and was unable to be fixed and he and ogdens worked wonders to get us back to lymm without too much of a delay without complaints from any of us. It was our 3rd time with ogdens and never had any reason to complain. Heres to many more in the future. 22m

A fabulous holiday to the isle of wight, made better by the knowledge and experience of the driver JACK such a lovely helpful driver gave us updates of times kept all in the loop of what was going on. Excellent service.

I went on a 1 day trip to Portmerien. I took over 8 hours to get there and back. Nowhere in the literature was I made aware of this fact. Without pick ups , it would have been half the journey. They should indicate this on their website.

Just returned from a break in Kent at the Bridgewood manor hotel. This is the only hotel that has not bothered to put on any entertainment for there coach quests, it was very disappointing.The hotel bedrooms are dated, but the beds were comfortable, towels were good and plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits.The food was a let down, very basic cheap food.They tried to give us the same menu, we complained and got it changed but it wasn’t good. We asked if we could pay a premium and get a better quality of food, which we did and the steak was good. Neil our driver made this holiday for us he kept us all amused. He constantly cleans and polishes his Coach, it was a pleasure to get on his coach which always smelt delightful, thank you Neil

My sister and I had a lovely coach trip to the Highlands. It was my first time but it won't be the last.I thoroughly enjoyed my time away. The hotel was a bit dated but staff did their best under the circumstances.
The trips were really enjoyable thanks to the lovely group of people who we travelled with and special thanks to our driver Jack who was excellent and went out of his way to organise things for us.He is a really calm and patient driver and we all felt really safe with him.Such a lovely young man and a great asset to the company.
Thank you for a great holiday and I look forward to the next one.

Our first coach holiday. We went to Falmouth in Cornwall. Couldn't have been better. Very nice hotel, good coach, and a really great driver, Jamie. Always smiling and happy to help, very professional. We will certainly use David Ogden Travel again....in fact we've already booked our next trip!

Went on the York Durham beamish weekend the places were really nice the hotel the mercure Kings Hotel Darlington I honestly don't know what to say to get my room it was lift to the 2nd floor you climbed stairs going up then stairs going down then down a landing then stairs up and up till you saw a 4 on the wall Hampton Court maze would be a doddle to this had to fill in 2 menus for 2 nights evening meals went for evening meal no numbers on the tables the staff came out with the same starter went to each table to ask if anyone had ordered that particular starter if anyone has ever seen the Victoria Wood Julie Walters sketch called 2 soups that is the nearest thing to getting your food my main meal came breaded fish I could take the top off in 2 goes very hard looked like wallpaper paste underneath hunt the fish I think they had mislaid it no tea or coffee with your evening meal only stuff from the bar my 1st evening meal consisted of a fishcake and ice cream 2nd night evening
meal consisted off carrot and coriander soup well I must have read it wrong it was the consistency and taste of a large Potion of either Indian or Chinese curry from your takeaway a very small portion of fish pie with 4 pieces of pink fish the rest was mashed potato and parsley sauce you had to use a knife to gain access to the underneath the broccoli and carrots my fork would not go through them extremely raw then ice cream I've never eaten less in a hotel in my travels if you were vegan or vegetarian you had it made that was the rest of the choices a dining room experience I will never forget pure comedy one lady actually took pictures of mine and hers food it was that unreal she was making comments on line the first night I think that she was going for gold no problem with the room except my big ornate mirror I think someone had either fisted it or put someone's head through it so I reported it on my arrival just incase I was blamed or charged for it this trip was very memorable would I stay at any mercure again NO

Having just returned from another holiday to the dolomites with David ogden travel I've travelling with ogdens since 2014 twice a year to the dolomites and lake garda I can not fault ogdens in anyway my last to fai della paganella in the dolomites was amazing made even better by our drivers jack and jamie two outstanding guys who made our memorable they went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our time in the dolomites a big thank you to all at ogdens I'm looking forward to my return trip in October I highly recommend ogdens travel

Lack of response to concerns.
Almost 4 weeks since the first of two emails, followed by a telephone call requesting a response to my concerns, still no reply. My concerns were about the unprofessional attitude of the driver, breaches of confidentiality and the abusive and aggresive behaviour of a passenger.
I feel I've given Ogdens every chance to address these issues directly but as I've heard nothing I feel this review is necessary.
The actual trip to Rouen and Honfleur was brilliant. Nice hotel, lovely staff and fantastic value for money. 5 stars for this. However trying to contact the company to feedback serious concerns have let them down

Brilliant holiday to the Merrion hotel in Llandudno, the pick up was on time, the coach was comfortable and the driver was great. Hassle free, just sat back and relaxed with everything taken care of to arrive a great hotel.
